I agree that both Matthew and Mark mention Galilee. But is there something in Matthew that says that the discourse in chapter 28 takes place just before Jesus ascends?

The version of those meeting Jesus, Him directing them to tell the Disciples where to meet, then it goes into Jesus Commanding the Disciples, leads to the thought of being the same event. Then Mark claims Jesus' Ascends. However, Matthews does close on AMEN, which would make one believe Jesus does Ascend there because essentially the next event is the UPPER ROOM in the Book of Acts.

But it's obvious using Mark's version that after Matthew, like in Mark and Luke Jesus Ascended.
I disagree that that is an obvious or necessary conclusion.

But before we continue, I'm interested in reading your answer to an earlier question I asked, which is whether in your view the text of Matthew has been corrupted or book of Matthew was never accurate to begin with.

No, but there is a tradition that first Century Church People were "Oneness."
The text I was talking about was Mark 5:41, the part about the "little girl I say to you arise".

I included Mark, because it claims same as Matthew in meeting in Mountains of Galilee, Jesus giving the Baptize Command to all of the world, and then in Mark He Ascends.
That's fine. As I said, it would probably be good for us to agree on a particular Greek text.

I suggest the SBLGNT. What do you suggest?

The claim Mark (60 AD) is older than Matthew and Luke. So it would be logical that Matthew got Galilee from Mark, not the other way around.
Well, of course, Matthew and Mark are traditional names attached to those documents.

But assuming that Matthew was written by one of the 12 apostles, then he would have known about Galilee because he was there.

I'm always concerned when i see these " trinity threads'. We must approach the Godhead reverently and humbly. The Divine Nature of the One true God is not to be played with by limited human understanding when trying to say how the Unlimited God is.

The concept of the "Trinity " in very much supported by the word of God, that even so, the word or concept is still lacking the full ability of comprehension of ALL that GOD IS. TO THINK WE CAN KNOW ALL about God is impossible in our limited state.
I agree we must always approach the one true God with due reverence and humility. In order to do this it is a Christian duty to seek to understand who the true God is, his true identity. Your comments clearly indicate you have sought to do this and are fully convinced the concept of the Trinity is fact and supported by scripture. My previous post was to highlight not every Christian is so convinced the Trinity doctrine is fact and some are fully convinced the scriptures prove otherwise. What is to be known regarding the only true God is revealed to us in scripture and exemplified in the life and works of Christ. God wants us to seek him (Acts 17:27) and our eternal life depends on knowing him accurately (John 17:3). God would not ask us to seek him and know him if he knew this was impossible for us. True to know God fully is beyond human comprehension. But I believe he has revealed himself enough in scripture for us to draw the correct conclusion on his true nature. I think a humble approach is always to try and understand both sides of an argument before reaching a conclusion, as opposed to taking a dogmatic approach.

I believe it's foolish to think that from using the other Gospels, plus we have Mark to verify the last events we read in Matthew, that the word AMEN suggests end of story as in Christ Ascends. There was no More Earthly Jesus to continue writing about because I feel the Amen suggests He is no longer with them.

And just because I believe Matthew 28:19 that we have, is not what it originally stated, does not remove the truth from the everything else we read in Matthew.

The amen at the end of Matthew may have been added later.

Jesus appeared over a of 40 days after his resurrection. Like it says at the end of the John, you can't write everything! Matthew may simply have put Amen at the end of his book.

Since you are familiar with that we can use it.

I gather from what you are saying that you feel the Matthew 28:19 has been seriously corrupted.

Do you feel that the rest of the book is intact? which Greek text shall we use when we are looking at it so that we are both looking at the same thing?

Do you feel that the uncorrupted version of Matthew, the autograph, was accurate?

Since I believe the Greek is a translated version of the Aramaic/Hebrew, I will use that as well.

This is the last verse in Matthew 28:

ܘܐܠܦܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܕܢܛܪܘܢ ܟܠ ܡܐ ܕܦܩܕܬܟܘܢ ܘܗܐ ܐܢܐ ܥܡܟܘܢ ܐܢܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܝܘܡܬܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܫܘܠܡܗ ܕܥܠܡܐ ܐܡܝܢ
20 And teach them that they must observe all what I have Commanded you. And behold, I am with you all the days, until the end of the alma {the world}. Amiyn {Amen}.”
^
This is pretty conclusive of Jesus' final words before Ascending. It's His promise to be with them forever. and it is His Amen. So in my opinion, this was His goodbye from Earth and there was no more to record, because here at this moment, Jesus said it all.

Well, then we may have a problem, because we will be using two different versions of Matthew.

What version of the Aramaic are you using, and which English translation?

This is the last verse in Matthew 28:

ܘܐܠܦܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܕܢܛܪܘܢ ܟܠ ܡܐ ܕܦܩܕܬܟܘܢ ܘܗܐ ܐܢܐ ܥܡܟܘܢ ܐܢܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܝܘܡܬܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܫܘܠܡܗ ܕܥܠܡܐ ܐܡܝܢ

Of course, different people have different opinions.
I do not see a reason to think those are Jesus' final words before ascending.

Do you believe that Jesus ascended from Galilee or from Bethany?

Cool, thanks!

Then Matthew ends with the word "age".

I think that can fit with "Alma," being the world they live in. After all we do believe this world we live in will be destroyed for a new one with New Jerusalem in it.

I only think Matthew 28:19 has been messed with. The rest should make no difference. And I think it was only changed because they were Baptizing in Jesus Name for the first 4 Centuries. We must remember, only the Church Bishops and Fathers had access. The majority of humans could not read/write. They would not know if Matthew 28:19/Luke 24:47 lined up or not. It's not like if we found a Bible today that had a different version. We all read/write and be like that ain't gonna fly! It was not like that all back then. People assumed Preachers did not lie or steal from you like we know some very well do.

Of course, different people have different opinions.

Jesus instructs His Disciples to go to Jerusalem and stay until the Promise arrives. The upper Room happens in Jerusalem. The first Church is in Jerusalem. Whether they went back from Galilee or Bethany does not concern me. I just know where they were Commanded to be.

Sure! The point is, though, that the Greek text we agreed on doesn't end with
Amen.

That's called Ancient Greek. Might be why it did not line up.
