Consider today versus a generation ago.
We see immorality of all sorts being more prevelent.
School shootings are fairly common place today, whereas a generation ago they were not.
So what cause has changed in a single generation where the effect has been the aforementioned results?
A generation ago, the vast majority of people had far fewer idols than they have today.
Sure they may have had a car, but it would have been a relatively basic transportation device with nothing to love about it, in comparison to today's vehichles with everything but the kitchen sink.
They may have had a phone, but it would have been a relatively basic communication device with nothing to love about it, in comparrison to today's smart cell phones that allow people to do many things with these devices, including buying and selling.
The same holds true for refrigerators, laundry machines and other household items that a generation ago were simple functioning devices that had people not loving these devices (idols); at least a lot less than they love today's modern appliances.
The same holds true for fashion. A generation ago, far fewer people were engaged in loving fashion relative with today's generation.
In support of my claim, Revelation 9:20 attributes the environmental catastrophes in Revelation 8 & 9 which will come upon the whole earth, due to the love mankind has for the works from his hands, through industry.
To attain all the idols mankind loves, they murder, steal, fornicate, and continue in technolical pursuits where put into practice, industry will only further the destruction of the earth through pollution (Revelation 9:21).
So there you have it, the cause and effect for today, as well as for tommorrow, when the days will be as those in Noah's time, and as in the days of Lot in immoral Sodom (Matthew 17:26-29).
Revelation 9:20 And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.
Matthew 17:26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
