Or is it i'm at church bored so I'm eating.

Werent the Pharisees like the jewish board members of the temple or was it the saduccess. Or the sandrehin. As I recall Jesus had problems with them. They didnt let him do anything. Cos it would have ruined their system or traditions.

I believe this is a fair comparison. Although probably the Pharisees and Sanhedrin had less government intervention than church boards do today. Church and state never mix well.

So does that mean the church board is really in the business of property management. Cos thats what it seems like. Not the spiritual wellbeing of the people. I mean I thought that would be the focus above all the everyday stuff, otherwise you could just outsource the church board to a bunch of accountants and lawyers.

Or even worse...tax collectors. It seems nobody was fond of them, in Jesus day. Although zaccheus got a reprieve cos he repented and paid everyone back what hed basically embezzled.

The people on the church board do it for free. It's voluntary. But yeah, this is what you get when you allow the government (in my view, the devil's servant) into the church. More focus on the unimportant (Jesus gave the job of dealing with property to Judas the traitor), while the important work (dealing with people) was carried out by He and His disciples.

One lady on the church I go to whos been there for over 50 years says she never deals with the church board. When I told her Im going to ask them to do something she was like 'good luck' and 'i'll believe it when I see it' becase in all the years shes been at that church the board has never done anything but obstruct people. She says if you want to do something do it and dont tell them. Dont get them involved.

Risk getting in trouble, but thats a risk you need to take. What is faith without risk? Or rather, faith without works? Its dead.

Sometimes, though, better to ask forgiveness than permission. :)

Board of trustees elections are all out now for schools.
If one person on those boards hates the Bible, all the children miss out on Bible.

Another place I enounter boards is schools and they take months to make a simple decision on getting somehone to weed their garden. Now they say they can pay someone to do it, but well im not available anymore to do it and the weeds have probably self sown for seven more years. And then they say well it needs to be done in two weeks otherwise the minsitry of education. Is going to crack down on them. But I told them months ago.

Shall I just say sorry too late.

Im suspecting that the church board member who sits there the longest and in charge of managing the finances thinks he or she 'runs' the church.

Also Ive seen some weird or questionable things like church manses rented out to tenants who dont belong to the church, to provide income.
Or church land being sold to transport authorites to widen the road, and the money being supposedly put into trust to go back into the church property but someone just sits on it.
Donations being refused because they cant be sold as the goods are being used for missions.
Dangerous fireworks being sold on pop up stalls on church groundsand funds or profts used to pay the bills.
Church buildings being financed by pokies (slot machine) outfits.
Churches being mortgaged to the hilt and new members being asked to pay the debt they had no say in creating.
Church buildings/halls rented out to parties
On saturdays, mainstream churches rent out their buidling to SDAs for their services but never fellowship, the only relationship is a business transaction.
Church carparks being leased during the week.
Church carboot sales to raise funds, never mind there might be stolen or hot goods on sale.

Yea just a few things Ive observed.
