I see.

So anyway, what about this? if someone, under grace (not under law, like the men who were not supposed to trim the edges of their beards according to the same chapter in Leviticus) were to get a faith related tatto with faith communication as the main motivation, and the resultant faith related conversations did indeed occur, would you discount any claims of blessing that might have resulted?

It can be good to look at things from a number of angles, anyway.

Take care.

I agree that the "the question of whether someone has a tattoo or not, is hardly something to figure by." But my main point is that if tattoos are indeed wrong biblically speaking (not just because of personal opinions), then whether or not "some people do get a faith related tattoo for the pragmatic reason of knowing they can lead to faith related conversations with other people," because the bible says putting a tattoo on you is wrong.

Moreover, if indeed putting tattoos on you is wrong biblically, then approaching those who believe it's ok for them to put the tattoos on their bodies should not be "you should not put tattoos on you," because that would be the outward manifestation of an inward problem. The proper way, which I believe to the God's way, to approach this is to help this person in his walk with Christ and then God himself will fix the inside problem which will later on manifest on the outside.

This does not just apply to tattoos but to all type of wrong doings.

YOUR BODY IS A TEMPLE....BUT NO ONE SAID NOT TO HANG A FEW DECORATIONS FROM IT. I HAVE TATS AND DON'T SEE A PROBLEM WITH IT.

Well, we can't really use the statement of of v. 27 and the freedom of being under grace year as a shield because the very next verse states this: "Do not defile your daughter by making her a prostitute, or the land will be filled with prostitution and wickedness." (V. 29)

Remember, the whole rules on Leviticus 19 were given to the Israelite just after they had left Egypt. Though they were free physically from Egypt's bondage, they were still under its social and cultural influence. God's purpose here was to get Israel away from these pagan customary practices.

Verse 27. Do not trim off the hair on your temples or trim your beards.

To "trim off the hair on your temples or trim your beards" in their context would be to imitate the pagan practices. I see nothing wrong with doing so today as we are not following any pagan practices. Furthermore, we see evidences of shaving in the new testament.

You might say that if you are not putting the tattoo to imitate any pagan ritual, then it's ok. Well, that would be one way to look at it. However, there is more to it than the imitation of pagan practices. Putting tattoos on you is to harm your body, which the bible clearly says is the temple of God and you should not harm it. There seems to be a lot of verses in the New Testament that are indirectly against putting tattoos on yourself.

These, along with my personal opinions, are my reasons why I am convinced that putting tattoos on myself is wrong.

I read this article about tattoos and I would like to share it with you.

I have often wondered wether getting tattoo's is ok or not and actually have two tattoo's. I don't know as if it is wrong, but looking back on life, although I don't have anything evil on me ( cross with rose on back shoulder and arm band both cover with tee-shirt) and they are originals that I drew or had drawn, I do still kind of wish I did not get them. I do not think God will send me to hell over them but then again I don't think there will be a thought of nice tattoo either. I guess my biggest problem with tattoo's are that no matter how much meaning to you they have the real meaning is in your mind and heart and I just don't pay that much attention to them anymore. Although it isn't for me to judge a man that has tattoo's either and have never obviously done so since I too have 2. Some day when we stand before Christ we will know for sure wether it was right or wrong unless we study enough and find out sooner from God's word.

Well, I guess they are more permanent...

But yes they are very widespread, you're right.

Do you have one, maybe, or have you considered one?

Take care.

Currently tattoos are very mainstream and getting one is no different than someone coloring hair.

Here's a question for you all to think about, and I don't know what the answer is, but do you think that a tattoo will be permanent for eternity? i.e. will your glorified body also have the same tattoo you had on your earthly body?

Remember that Jesus's resurrected body still bore the scars of his crucifixion.

Thats the bigest load I've ever read!
Looks t me like you are condoning what you do and condemning what others do.
And trying to back it up with false doctrine.

As mentioned, some people's principal motivation in getting a faith related one is so that faith related conversations may ensue.

Take care.

I see.

Does that include a faith related tattoo obtained with the motive of communicating faith?

Take care.

ok, anyways thanx a lot for ur responds.. coz im thinking to put that pic.. (His cruxification or wearing the crown of thorn)..
make sure they include the blood of the lamb. perhaps now a days its more original to have no tat... when i was young no one had em so you were labeled a rebel if you did... now it seems to be a pretty mainstream thing to do. so if you want to stand out go tat free. good luck with your decision & God Bless You. :D
