Examine yourselves, whether he in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates
you know a good test for a Christian ? To hear the doctrine of Jesus Christ and see if we are abiding of not
So for example when we come to the realization of his word like this
“
But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek
offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also.
Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.
And
as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for
sinners also love those that love them.
….But
love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
Judge not, and ye shall not be judged:
condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned:
forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall be given into your bosom.
For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.
….And
why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and
heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.”
Luke 6:27-32, 35-38, 41-42, 46-49 KJV
is that how we are living our daily life ? Are we walking in the faith ?
just one small section but an important one to examine where we ourselves really stand if we examine ourselves sincerely the gospel is always going to exhort us to keep growing and reaching higher .
But we aren’t all the same because we don’t all know the same things
“But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”
Matthew 13:23
just because one yields only thirty and another ninety bushels of fruit , both are harvested by the harvester we aren’t all at the same level of this
“So then
faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Romans 10:17 KJV
Some have heard a lot and have come along way others are stuck somewhere along the way or just getting started with hearing his word those who know more have a higher standard
“And
that servant, which knew his Lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
But
he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes.
For
unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required:
and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.”
Luke 12:47-48 KJV
Faith is a personal walk so examining ones self is a good thing
