That link that you posted doesn't really help unless you read Italian which I did not.
I have read tons and tons of information on this subject and the effects worldwide.
So let me pose a question to you.
Why do you suppose that this virus has hit Italy so hard, but their next door neighbor Greece, not so much? You can also include France. France is also their next door neighbor, also not hit so hard as Italy. What do you think the differences are that has caused this?

I can tell you this the differences are the reason why Italy has been hit so hard and is not a model for the rest of the world?
Same thing happened in Italy that happened in China, they close down Lombardi, the center of the outbreak and people fled before it was completely shut down and infected the surrounding areas.

When there is not enough medical supplies to protect the front line workers and the have third year medical students so doing the work of doctors that means there is a problem.

They are no longer burying the bodies they are taking them away by the truckloads and cremating them.

This virus is on an exponential curve.

Presently in the USA approx 500 000 people are infected is what the most recent models are showing.

It has already been noted that the huge Chinese presence in Italy is responsible for what happened there. Milan is full of Chinese immigrants, and that is where it all began. The Chinese are more susceptible to this virus than others, and there are degrees of susceptibility.

Coronavirus Cases in the United States:
11,689
Deaths:
174
Recovered:
108

ACTIVE CASES:
11,407
Currently Infected Patients
11,343 (99%)
in Mild Condition
64 (1%)
Serious or Critical

This comes from a study released 3 hours ago.

You want to trust models? There were climate models out 20 years ago that said that Global warming would destroy all the coastal cities in 10 years. Well its 20 years later and I live near the coast. Those models are worthless.

Do let's look at the latest numbers from three hours ago in Italy.
Italy, Coronavirus Cases:
41,035
Deaths:
3,405
Recovered:
4,440

ACTIVE CASES
33,190
Currently Infected Patients
30,692 (92%)
in Mild Condition
2,498 (8%)
Serious

3,405 deaths don't much constitute hauling bodies off in trucks.

I asked her this as a rhetorical question.

You have family in Milan, you speak to them directly?
You do understand that these deaths over and above the regular number of deaths, basic math here on limited resources.

What i stated is fact an Italian traveled to Germany met with people who had been to Wuhan in China, sometime in late January
He returned to Italy.
And it spread form there.... there are epidemiologist that study how viruses spread but apparently best just to rely on our intuition, and gut reactions rather facts and numbers.

Maybe you can figure this out you will understand exponential growth.

A lily pad doubles in size every day in a pond for thirty days on what day will it cover half the pond?

Another basic fact the virus started in Wuhan China... it is about how people move about the planet from the epicenter of the virus not their race, creed or colour.

Rather ironic don't you think since Americans are travelling all over the place with little to know effort to contain the virus.... how long till the health care system is over loaded.

One member here on CC has already been told because she is a cancer patient she will not be high priority if she should get sick and she looks quite young to me.

Your number are set to explode, the current model suggests 500 000 infected US citizens again growing exponentially daily.
Anyone no matter what age that has a heart problem is at high risk for death.
Not enough ventilators available probably for months.
So say what you will about Italy but I am pretty sure the USA is not in much better shape.

I gave you facts, you gave prognostication model numbers.

Ok you go wring your hands in a closet somewhere that's up to you. It's ok by me however you want to act or what ever you want to believe.
I'll live by faith.
If I'm wrong you'll be alive in your closet in a post-apocalyptic world, and I'll be dead on the street somewhere.

What are talking about ...I thought we were talking about this virus.
All I am doing is telling you is the statistical models that give information behind what happens when we have a novel virus with these characteristics.

Why everyone starts going on about fear and panic....that is not the point at all, the point is to be informed so you can make the best possible choices for yourself and others.

I'll live by faith and the brains God gave me

and if I lack wisdom I will do what I have done so many times before

ASK

sounds like a pretty good compromise if you ask me :giggle:

I see a pattern here that really sticks out

Christians seem to think that if you ask questions, try to inform yourself or discuss the virus and the news about it, it means you are fearful and lack faith

my mind just does not work that way

apparently people are having difficulty compartmentalizing and think one unrelated thing leads to another unrelated thing

by the way, do you have room in your closet?

You hit the nail right on the head...watch out your IQ is showing.

where? :geek:

I told it to calm down

on the other hand, if you are stupid, it will be a ok anyway

either way

either way

I tend to believe it when God states 'ask of me'

I do. I also like 'pour out your heart to God'

it's ok to be uneasy . it's even ok to be fearful if you are.

what is not ok, is castigating others when God does not give us a one size fits all formula for having our being in Him

thinking more about it;

I have reached the conclusion some time ago, that unresolved fear or disbelief is actually revealed in how we tell others to 'behave' and it is most likely a list of what we need to work on ourselves

well there's a blank canvass

Where is your formula then, the numbers are meaningless unless they are analyzed.
My formula? I don't have a formula.
I gave reported numbers.
You're the one that's relying on prognosticators with their formulas.
I don't know how old you are or how many Doomsday predictions you have lived through, I've lived through a few of them and there models and numbers and formulas have never even been close not even once. They have always been worst case scenario hand-wringing fear mongers.

So let's do a little math.
Suppose there are 500, 000 actually infected. only 11,689 were sick enough to go to the doctor and therefore the number be reported as an active case. That's a little over 2.3%.
Of that 11,689 A total of 174 have died.
That means if they're 500,000 infected number is correct the mortality rate in the United States is only 0.0348% .

This is turning out to be less scary than I thought.

Are you serious....

You solve the lily pad question in post #25 then maybe we can have an actual discussion..... I do have patience
