One of the biggest problems I have seen in the church is the lack of covenant relationships. God's way of interacting with us as humans has always been in covenant relationship with us. In the old days of Israel men and women and families would enter into covenant with one another both sides committing their whole lives to the other person's success. It is happening in many churches today, but in my opinion not enough.

A lot of what we call relationship with other people is very performance driven. When a person performs to our expectation level we are more than happy to embrace them in our lives, but when they don't the tendency seems to be separating yourself from the person. I have often heard Christians refer to the church as their family, but am puzzled about how Christians actually relate to each other and treat one another. A lot of the "family" relationships are very surface level and fake. Has the world's view of what relationship is supposed to look like invaded the church and been embraced by the church? In my opinion, yes it has. If God deals with relationships in covenants and taught his set aside people(Israel) to do the same, shouldn't we be doing the same?

Here is a video that touches on this:

Yep I do think our culture has played a huge role in not seeing this in our western world. As with any culture there is the good and the bad of every culture.
