11 Then I was given a measuring rod like a staff, and I was told: “Rise and measure the temple of God and the altar and those who worship there, 2 but do not measure the court outside the temple; leave that out, for it is given over to the nations, and they will trample over the holy city for forty-two months.
Good morning! It's going to get very windy around here in an hour or so. If I get cut off, it will mean the power is off.
I read your post, and your point is-------??

This is Jesus speaking: “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing! 35 See! Your house is left to you desolate; and assuredly, I say to you, you shall not see Me until the time comes when you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!’ ”

He was speaking to the Jews, the house of natural Israel. Those descendant will not see Him until they receive one who comes in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

"...you shall not see Me until the time comes when you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!’ ”

This line: "...your house is left to you desolate" would have been very offensive to the Jews. They claimed, and could prove, that their lineage led back to Abraham. They assumed that their association with Abraham secured some special status with God. It did not. Yet, culturally, they thought themselves superior to all others.

Yet, this is what Paul wrote to the Galatians:

"...know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham."

He doubles down: "...foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” 9 So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham."

Both Jews of faith AND gentiles of faith would inherit the promises given to Abraham. Since this is "of faith" Paul is not talking about a DNA lineage but a lineage of the spirit. The lineage of those of faith goes all the way back to God:

"For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek..."

In Christ, natural DNA or "the flesh" is irrelevant.

"And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise."

But then Paul strikes a death-blow to all who claim that natural DNA gives one special status with God. He compares Abraham's two sons: Isaac and Ishmael. By this time these two sons and their offspring had opposed each other since birth. The descendants of Ishmael were enemies of the Jews. (They still are today!) In the Jews' minds, there were Jews who were special and everyone else, the gentiles. If a person was a descendant of Ishmael, they were less-than everyone else.

He explains that the covenant at Sinai (The 10 Commandments and the Law) was only given to the Jews. Any benefits of the covenant were dispensed only to the Jews who were at Sinai. However, there was always at work (and even well-before Sinai) a covenant of Faith. While the Jews could rightfully claim exclusivity in the Sinai covenant, the covenant of Faith would be dispensed to all who believed in Christ.

Furthermore, the Law and the 10 Commandments created slaves of the Jews. When Paul wrote Galatians they were still in bondage (as are all who are under the Law and the 10 Commandments)

This is where Paul gets offensive to the Jews:

For these are the two covenants: the one from Mount Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar— 25 for this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children— 26 but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all.

HE EQUATES THE COVENANT AT SINAI TO HAGAR THE SLAVE WOMAN!

Ouch, Paul! No Bar Mitzvah invites for you!

And Paul doubles down again! (and this is where "desolate" comes back into focus).

“Rejoice, O barren,
You who do not bear!
Break forth and shout,
You who are not in labor!
For the desolate has many more children
Than she who has a husband.”

"She who has a husband" was Sarah, YET, the woman originally not included in the promises given to Abraham, Hagar (the gentiles who are enemies to the Jews), would have more children of promise than Sarah (the natural Jews).

This is where I'm going:

The natural house of Israel is desolate as it relates to the covenant of faith in Christ. The 10 Commandments and the Law made DNA Israel blind to Christ. They are not producing children of promise.

DESOLATION is the outcome of the Sinai Covenant.

One cannot be made desolate unless they were first fruitful. If one is fruitful under the covenant of faith in Christ, they would be made desolate if they return to the Law and the 10 Commandments.
Remember, before Mohammad, many Arabs, sons and daughters of Ishmael and Esau worshiped Jehovah. Now 99% of them worship their god Allah. They were once fruitful, but now an abomination. Your thoughts.

That is also true and should serve as a warning to all, today, who claim to be in Christ by faith.

However, Paul's point about the covenant that produces slaves was to the Jews (and anyone who should go under the Law) as the Arabs were not included at Sinai.

spectacularly put together brother huge kudos …or better amen !

“and think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.”

The Jews as a whole rejected the Lord, thus putting themselves back under the law, therefore they are to be judged by the law. They are no better off than the Islamist who turned from Jehovah to Allah.

You wrote, "Arabs were not included at Sinai." Not sure what you're referring to.

The following concerning Ishmael and his sons, and their sons. He knew Jehovah, as much as the Isaak and Jacob knew him. I realize the Arab nations did not have the same blessing and promises the Israelites had. But the LORD was with Ishmael and his mother.

Genesis 21:17-18, "God heard the voice of the lad (Ishmael), and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, what aileth you, Hagar? fear not; for God has herd the voice of the lad where he is. Arise, Lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation. Verse 20, "And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer."

They like the Jews turned to the worship of idols.

this is Sinai) 3 The LORD did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, those who are here today, all of us who are alive."

The Sinai covenant was limited to the people who gathered at the mountain. This is the very specific covenant of the 10 Commandments and the Law given from the mountain.

The Jews, from Sinai onward, were always under the Law. They never went BACK under the Law, they went under the Law at Sinai and have been there since then. There way out from the Law is the way to freedom for everyone: through Christ.

At Sinai, the Jews rejected the covenant of Promise by sending Moses up the mountain in their stead. God intended to bring them up into His presence. Instead, because of fear, they sent Moses. This was the transgression that prompted the adding of the Law and the Commandments. It also established a priesthood of only one of the twelves tribes: Levi. God's goal was to make everyone kings and priests. The Law, added because of transgressions, made on the Levites priests.

"Why then the law? It was added because of transgressions..."

Had they ascended into the presence of the Lord at Sinai they would have been changed. Instead, they remained carnal and unable to carry the grace of God. So, the Law preserved the people through whom the promised One would come. They were preserved under the Law until the Seed should appear. This, of course, is Christ.

The Law put limits on the penalties of sin. Instead of the wage death, animal sacrifices could be paid. God also gave them health care, government, rules for civil discourse, jurisprudence, etc. God kept His end of the covenant but the Jews could not keep theirs.

So what can you give God if everything of value you have is FROM God?

Your life. Yet, the Law, because it was given to preserve your life, could never be leveraged to take your life (except for crimes, etc.). So, God owned the lives of all who were under the Law. That made them slaves to God.

Good post: I believe Hebrews 6, helps us to better understand my meaning. There were Jews who had received Christ, were baptized, and then deliberately turned from Christ. This rejection put them back under the law and are now to be judged by the law. They had left, "The principles of the doctrine of Christ." And because no man can keep the law except Jesus Christ, they will be found guilty of breaking the law.

Verse 4-6, These Jews had been enlightened, had a taste of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, tasted the good word of God, yet they fell back to their old ways. For these, "If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh (again) and put him (Jesus) to an open shame."

For the Jews, to turn away from Christ (an apostasy) it would be impossible to restore them again. The word impossible is used in three other verses in in the book of Hebrews. So, we can get a good feeling of its meaning.

Vs. 18, "it was impossible for God to lie."

Verse 10:4, "It is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins."

11:6, ""Without faith it is impossible to please him."

I believe were saying the same thing, only saying it a little differently. Before Sinai, the Lord had been dealing with the Israelites strictly according to grace, apart from their works. or merits. He compared his relationship to Israel to a mother eagle's relationship to her young. Exodus 19:4.

At Sinai, the Lord offered to enter into a legal agreement with his people. under the new arrangement, the tribes standing with him would be based strictly on its ability to satisfy his righteous requirements. Note the word "if" in the verse, signifying the conditional nature of the contract:

"Exodus 19:5-6, "Now therefore, if you will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then you shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine; and you shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation."

They responded with a degree of arrogant self-assurance. Exodus 19:8. Legalism, having an attitude of spiritual superiority and self-righteousness. They have carried that attitude to this day, and it continues to be a stumbling block for them. Enjoyed your comments.

yes. The set up really was that it was impossible to satisfy the law. God intended it to create godly sorrow among the Jews, so that they would always anticipate the advent of Christ‘s appearing.

This is a difficult subject to explain.
Is it????
If you have questions, ask.
How very gracious of you.
Thanks.
Daniel wrote the following when he was in his nineties and while serving in Persian under King Darius. In the last chapter of his book, he wrote, Daniel 12:11, “From the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that makes desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.”
Days is days. A wild Greek guy named Antiochus was running around before the time of Jesus and desecrated the temple, but I'm sure that this was not the only fulfillment of this prophecy. Three and a half years into the Trib, the Antichrist shall also do this...

2 Thess 2:
1Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
3Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
5Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
6And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
7For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
8And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
9Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Thanks for your response. I believe Antiochus the fourth desecrated a temple that had already been abandoned by God. No ark, no mercy seat, no eternal flame, no Levites. The only ones effected were the Jews who were without prophets and without God. They were in a period of 400 years of silence, a fallen people. What Antiochus did can be compared to a person shooting a corpse.

IMO the 1290 and 1335 numbers listed in Danel 12 are the number of days into the 7 year Tribulation.

1290 days speaks clearly of the Abomination that causes Desolation after the antichrist takes his seat in the temple on Day 1260--2 Thess.2.

The Blessed Day is the Resurrection/ Rapture that takes place on the 1335th day at the reaping of the earth in Rev 14:14-15, 75 days after the antichrist takes his seat in the Temple.
That temple could the Dome of the Rock. From Revelation 11 on to the end of the book could also be a 45-day period.

I certainly wouldn't see it that way. Like throwing out the bowl judgements. Like to mention I see Daniel'a blessed day as also being Pentecost with the AoD being placed during the Passover week.

The mosque could never be the temple but possible that both the mosque and the temple being on that 38 acre platform

There will never be two temples.

I believe the misunderstanding comes from the question, is the antichrist going to be a Gentile or a Jews? Now if you think he's a Jew, I can understand why people believe the Jews will build a third temple.

The mosque sits directly over the crown of Mt. Moriah, that's why it's called the "Dome (of/over) the rock." That's where Abraham is said to have sacrificed his son, and the place David purchased. The place he purchased was a threshing floor, it has to be that place.

But if the antichrist is a Muslim, (I believe he will be of Assyrian blood) why would he even consider sitting in a Jewish temple? No Muslim would do that! Their Shrine is already standing, it's the third holiest site in all Islam.
Your thoughts.

A muslim could never be christlike to decieve the jewish people. This person who will become the antichrist will be a lot like Christ, even walking the same paths Jesus took for 3 years.

Some writings from a generational disciple of Apostle John.

. Now, as our Lord Jesus Christ, who is also God, was prophesied of under the figure of a lion, on account of His royalty and glory, in the same way have the Scriptures also aforetime spoken of Antichrist as a lion, on account of his tyranny and violence. For the deceiver seeks to liken himself in all things to the Son of God. Christ is a lion, so Antichrist is also a lion; Christ is a king, John 18:37 so Antichrist is also a king. The Saviour was manifested as a lamb; John 1:29 so he too, in like manner, will appear as a lamb, though within he is a wolf. The Saviour came into the World in the circumcision, and he will come in the same manner. The Lord sent apostles among all the nations, and he in like manner will send false apostles. The Saviour gathered together the sheep that were scattered abroad, and he in like manner will bring together a people that is scattered abroad. The Lord gave a seal to those who believed on Him, and he will give one like manner. The Saviour appeared in the form of man, and he too will come in the form of a man. The Saviour raised up and showed His holy flesh like a temple, John 2:19 and he will raise a temple of stone in Jerusalem.

Thus did the Scriptures preach before-time of this lion and lion's cub. And in like manner also we find it written regarding Antichrist. For Moses speaks thus: Dan is a lion's cub, and he shall leap from Bashan. Deuteronomy 33:22 But that no one may err by supposing that this is said of the Saviour, let him attend carefully to the matter. Dan, he says, is a lion's cub; and in naming the tribe of Dan, he declared clearly the tribe from which Antichrist is destined to spring. For as Christ springs from the tribe of Judah, so Antichrist is to spring from the tribe of Dan. And that the case stands thus, we see also from the words of Jacob: Let Dan be a serpent, lying upon the ground, biting the horse's heel. Genesis 49:17

That it is in reality out of the tribe of Dan, then, that that tyrant and king, that dread judge, that son of the devil, is destined to spring and arise, the prophet testifies when he says, Dan shall judge his people, as (he is) also one tribe in Israel. Genesis 49:16 But some one may say that this refers to Samson, who sprang from the tribe of Dan, and judged the people twenty years. Well, the prophecy had its partial fulfilment in Samson, but its complete fulfilment is reserved for Antichrist. For Jeremiah also speaks to this effect: From Dan we are to hear the sound of the swiftness of his horses: the whole land trembled at the sound of the neighing, of the driving of his horses. Jeremiah 8:16 And another prophet says: He shall gather together all his strength, from the east even to the west. They whom he calls, and they whom he calls not, shall go with him. He shall make the sea white with the sails of his ships, and the plain black with the shields of his armaments

For as two advents of our Lord and Saviour are indicated in the Scriptures, the one being His first advent in the flesh, which took place without honour by reason of His being set at nought, as Isaiah spoke of Him aforetime, saying, We saw Him, and He had no form nor comeliness, but His form was despised (and) rejected (lit. = deficient) above all men; a man smitten and familiar with bearing infirmity, (for His face was turned away); He was despised, and esteemed not. Isaiah 53:2-5 But His second advent is announced as glorious, when He shall come from heaven with the host of angels, and the glory of His Father, as the prophet says, You shall see the King in glory; Isaiah 33:17

For John says, And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. That is the half of the week whereof Daniel spoke. These are the two olive trees and the two candlesticks standing before the Lord of the earth. And if any man will hurt them, fire will proceed out of their mouth, and devour their enemies; and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy; and have power over waters, to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues as often as they will. And when they shall have finished their course and their testimony, what says the prophet? the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them, because they will not give glory to Antichrist

Part 2-----------

By the beast, then, coming up out of the earth, he means the kingdom of Antichrist; and by the two horns he means him and the false prophet after him. And in speaking of the horns being like a lamb, he means that he will make himself like the Son of God, and set himself forward as king. And the terms, he spoke like a dragon, mean that he is a deceiver, and not truthful. And the words, he exercised all the power of the first beast before him, and caused the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed, signify that, after the manner of the law of Augustus, by whom the empire of Rome was established, he too will rule and govern, sanctioning everything by it, and taking greater glory to himself. For this is the fourth beast, whose head was wounded and healed again, in its being broken up or even dishonoured, and partitioned into four crowns; and he then (Antichrist) shall with knavish skill heal it, as it were, and restore it. For this is what is meant by the prophet when he says, He will give life unto the image, and the image of the beast will speak. For he will act with vigour again, and prove strong by reason of the laws established by him; and he will cause all those who will not worship the image of the beast to be put to death. Here the faith and the patience of the saints will appear, for he says: And he will cause all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand or in their forehead; that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, the name of the beast, or the number of his name. For, being full of guile, and exalting himself against the servants of God, with the wish to afflict them and persecute them out of the world, because they give not glory to him, he will order incense-pans to be set up by all everywhere, that no man among the saints may be able to buy or sell without first sacrificing; for this is what is meant by the mark received upon the right hand. And the word — in their forehead — indicates that all are crowned, and put on a crown of fire, and not of life, but of death.

In those times, then, he shall arise and meet them. And when he has overmastered three horns out of the ten in the array of war, and has rooted these out, viz., Egypt, and Libya, and Ethiopia, and has got their spoils and trappings, and has brought the remaining horns which suffer into subjection, he will begin to be lifted up in heart, and to exalt himself against God as master of the whole world. And his first expedition will be against Tyre and Berytus, and the circumjacent territory. For by storming these cities first he will strike terror into the others, as Isaiah says, Be ashamed, O Sidon; the sea has spoken, even the strength of the sea has spoken, saying, I travailed not, nor brought forth children; neither did I nurse up young men, nor bring up virgins. But when the report comes to Egypt, pain shall seize them for Tyre.

53. These things, then, shall be in the future, beloved; and when the three horns are cut off, he will begin to show himself as God, as Ezekiel has said aforetime: Because your heart has been lifted up, and you have said, I am God. And to the like effect Isaiah says: For you have said in your heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of heaven: I will be like the Most High. Yet now you shall be brought down to hell (Hades), to the foundations of the earth. In like manner also Ezekiel: Will you yet say to those who slay you, I am God? But you (shall be) a man, and no God.

By the unrighteous judge, who fears not God, neither regards man, he means without doubt Antichrist, as he is a son of the devil and a vessel of Satan. For when he has the power, he will begin to exalt himself against God, neither in truth fearing God, nor regarding the Son of God, who is the Judge of all. And in saying that there was a widow in the city, he refers to Jerusalem itself, which is a widow indeed, forsaken of her perfect, heavenly spouse, God. She calls Him her adversary, and not her Saviour; for she does not understand that which was said by the prophet Jeremiah: Because they obeyed not the truth, a spirit of error shall speak then to this people and to Jerusalem. And Isaiah also to the like effect: Forasmuch as the people refuses to drink the water of Siloam that goes softly, but chooses to have Rasin and Romeliah's son as king over you: therefore, lo, the Lord brings up upon you the water of the river, strong and full, even the king of Assyria. By the king he means metaphorically Antichrist, as also another prophet says: And this man shall be the peace from me, when the Assyrian shall come up into your land, and when he shall tread in your mountains.

Now, concerning the tribulation of the persecution which is to fall upon the Church from the adversary, John also speaks thus: And I saw a great and wondrous sign in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars. And she, being with child, cries, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. And the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. And she brought forth a man-child, who is to rule all the nations: and the child was caught up unto God and to His throne. And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has the place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. And then when the dragon saw it, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man- child. And to the woman were given two wings of the great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. And the serpent cast (out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. And the earth helped the woman, and opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast) out of his mouth. And the dragon was angry with the woman, and went to make war with the saints of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus.
