Who was the King of Persia in verse one of the book of Daniel? (Daniel 10:1)

Cyrus

https://www.nationalgeographic.com/culture/article/cyrus-the-great

Like many ancient rulers, the Persian conqueror Cyrus the Great (ca 590– ca 529 B.C.), also known as Cyrus II, was born of royalty. On the death of his father, Cambyses I, Cyrus ruled the Achaemenid dynasty and expanded his ancestral realm into a mighty empire. He triumphed not just through conquest, but also by showing singular tolerance and mercy to those he defeated.

A brilliant military strategist, Cyrus vanquished the king of the Medes, then integrated all the Iranian tribes, whose skill at fighting on horseback gave his army great mobility. His triumph over Lydia, in Asia Minor near the Aegean Sea, filled his treasury with that country’s tremendous wealth.

After conquering lands surrounding Mesopotamia, Cyrus closed in on Babylon. Disgruntled over imposed forced labor and the demotion of their city’s patron deity, Marduk, Babylonians turned against their king and saw no reason to oppose Cyrus, who was known to spare those who yielded to him. In 539 B.C. they opened their gates to the Persians, who entered the city “in peace, amidst joy and jubilation,” according to an inscription touting Cyrus’s triumph.

She will be given up and all his house and as usual one from the sprout of her roots will stand up in his position and fight the king of the north and prevail and will fight more wars. They only know how to fight !

9) Who is the willful King that exalts himself and magnifies himself above every god, and what else does he speak of in this verse? (Daniel 11:36)

He is the one speaking against the God of gods and he will speak astonishing things and will show no regard for the God of his fathers.

10) What will the god of his forces and the god of his fathers are honored with in this verse? (Daniel 11:38)

He will give glory to the god of fortresses ; to a god that his fathers did not know he will give glory by means of gold and silver and precious stones and desirable things.

- That’s what we call business, political power and religious power working together to control people !

Looking for Daniel

Daniel 1 : Furthermore, the king assigns to them a daily ration from the king’s delicacies and from the wine he drinks. They are to be trained for three years, and at the end of that time they are to enter the king’s service.

- As he is going to be part of the Babylonian administration, he belongs to a privileged group with privileges (food and beverages).

- We can imagine that he is going to receive the best training!

- We can see the same today!

- So there is no big difference!

Looking for Daniel

Daniel 1
But Daniel says to the guardian whom the principal court official has appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah: “Please, test your servantsz for ten days, and let us be given some vegetables to eat and water to drink; then compare our appearance with the appearance of the youths who afre eating the king’s delicacies, and deal with your servants according to what you see.”

- Yes, practical knowledge!

- Think again: Daniel was young but he had practical knowledge!

- Thus it can be obtained while young when it is absolutely essential to lead a good life taking into account God’s principles!

- Then it can keep growing and growing and then transmitted to the next generations!

- And grandparents can also help a lot!

- Sadly we live in a world which doesn’t care about old people!

- What a waste!

Looking for Daniel

Daniel 1

- In this chapter we are told about 4 youngsters who are brought to a foreign country with a different culture and religion and everything!

- They are alone!

- Apparently, they don’t have their own family!

- And they show themselves exceptional!

- And they will keep in the same direction!

- Thus once again it definitely shows the importance of a good education where the parents must be 100% active!

- And God must be the cement!

Looking for Daniel

Daniel 2
Then the secret is revealed to Daniel in a vision at night. So Daniel praises the God of heaven.

- Daniel is also a “precious man” because he is humble!

- As soon as God sends him a vision, he prays him to thank him!

- He knows who he is and who is God!

- May we remember this passage!

Looking for Daniel

Daniel 2
Then King Nebuchadnezzar falls down with his face to the ground before Daniel and pays homage to him. The king says to Daniel: “Truly your God is a God of gods and a Lord of kings and a Revealer of secrets, because you were able to reveal this secret.”

- Thus the king pays homage to Daniel!

- He acknowledges the power of God!

- But he won’t listen to his warning!

- He won’t change of attitude!

- And in due time he will pay the price for his pride!

Looking for Daniel

Daniel 6

As a consequence, high officials and satraps are jealous of Daniel but they can’t find any accusation respecting matters of state because he is trustworthy, he isn’t negligent and he isn’t corrupted. So they know it can only be with Daniel’s religion. So they tell Darius to establish a royal decree and to enforce a ban for 30 days so nobody can make a petition to any god or man except to the king. And if he does, he should be thrown into the lions’ pit.

- So here again we are told about Daniel’s attitude: trustworthy, not negligent and not corrupted!

- He was really different with the other important people!

- Today it would be the same!

- Corruption is everywhere!

- So here again we can see the types of men God looks for!

- Something to remember and think about if we can do it!

Looking for Daniel

Daniel 11
Here we are told about a refining work and a cleansing and a whitening until the time of the end.

- Refining work and cleansing and whitening!

- It requires a lot of work!

- It requires to be 100% active!

- It requires personal implication!

- Action is necessary!

- Reading the Bible carefully to understand it!

- Nobody can stand quietly!

- Daniel couldn’t do it in his visions!

- Everybody must prepare oneself and encourage others to do the same!

- First you need to save yourself!

- Second help others to save themselves!

- But if you wait for others to save you it won’t work!

- Personal implication is required from everybody!

- Being lukewarm doesn’t work!

- it has never worked!

- And people keep thinking it will work for them!

- Bad choice!

God and Daniel / Daniel and God

Daniel 1:

- In every matter requiring wisdom and understanding that the king may ask them about, he finds them ten times better than all the magic-practicing priests and the conjurers in his entire realm!

- Right, they are better!

- But no, they are ten times better!

- Can you imagine the gap?

- Yes, building a deep relationship with God requires a lot of efforts and a strong will!

- It is not a game!

- It is not something you think about from time to time!

- No way!

- And all the Bible is about that!

- Why do you think there is such a minority of exceptionally faithful servants of God?

- Yes, having a straight relationship with God requires many efforts and the majority is not ready for that!
