I'd like to know people's views on evolution. I, personally, believe that evolution did happen but I also think that it would have require some kind of intelligent being to guide it down the path it went.

I'd rather not have people swearing at me, calling me an idiot or a non-believer, etc. I'd prefer for people to give me their theories as i am curious to hear what others think. Thanks :)

I am more interested in what the Bible says, for what people think you will get many different ideas.
Exodus 20:11
(11) For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

I've personally used genetic algorithms to solve mathematical problems and design artificial neural networks. I toss out a bunch of random nonsense and come back a couple of hours later to a sophisticated solution. By using evolution, we can find solutions that intelligent designers wouldn't be able to construct. I don't have to guide anything and, if I did, the algorithm wouldn't necessarily benefit from it.

In other words, evolution works. This shouldn't have an impact on anybody's faith, though.

I approach science more philosophically minded than most who engage in science from my experience, and as a result am highly skeptical of the ability of science to produce explanations of reality.

I am a young earth creationist. It is the most scriptural position that I know of.

Evolution has NOT been proven. Its assumption based on ONE mans’ imagination? Darwin at age 22 believed in God and even before his death, so who affected HIS thinking after his exploratory journey on the HMS Beagle? (nj) The sun rises and sets each day, the earth revolves the sun perfectly! Oh and there’s the butterfly! How amazing a creature. Evolutionary Theory Busted! See the DVD…
Metamorphosis: The Beauty and Design of Butterflies
With high quality photography and visual effects, this DVD focuses on the design and sophistication of the butterfly, challenging evolutionary assumptions and claims about their origin.

God made the earth and the heavens, all that is above and all that is below. I firmly believe this. My son, 17, appears to be heading towards studying Astronomy when he graduates high school next year. He watches all the Universe shows on tv, devours this stuff, figures out the math, etc. The other day he jokingly said to me that he will go to college and become an Astronomer and I should go back to school, study theology and become a pastor (which I wouldn't mind doing at all!) and then we can have some really great debates. I have to admit it sounds like fun....

God created the universe to look as if it were billions of years old and life to look as though it had evolved over billions of years even though He actually created it all much more recently in the manner attested to in the Bible.

So, evolution is the correct scientific framework even though it didn't actually occur, since the world exists just as it would if it had occured.

Dawkins calls the 'Cambrian explosion' an evolutionary 'puzzle'. To me it just makes sense if you understand the biblical account of a global flood. Keep searching for truth... Creation - Creation Ministries International
