You should have been there when Jesus was on the cross to correct Him when he spoke to the thief to tell him he would be in paradise that day. Shame you couldn't be there to instruct Jesus on how the world works.
They still buried the thief's body that day.

Shame you don't understand the simplest scripture. Do you think the angels are in heaven or paradise?

QUOTE scripture said that the thief was in heaven, simple straight forward. So what do you think that where the angels were makes me not understand what scripture says? I am only reporting scripture, I am nothing. I think you are from demons trying to say scripture is not true and using me as your way to fight the Lord. I am nothing. I will gladly die for the Lord. Make your fight with the Lord and His truths, not with me. If you kill me, I will only go to the Lord. You are against absolute power when you are against scripture.

When you die does your body go to sleep or does it go straight to heaven, to be with Jesus?
Lets stick with the facts .... when you die your body remains on earth and slowly decomposes.

As far as anything else that may or may not happen.... we don't know.

Your body goes to the sleep in the grave, and your soul goes directly to the third heaven to be with the Lord.

Meh me thinks one would have to ask what exactly definition of Heaven is for this OP question, and by the general discussion herein.

Way I see it, I guess I am a newish Christian too. Maybe lukewarm Christian, or maybe just still learning, a noob Christian idk, but I am willing to know more and learn. Way I see it if the Bible be true from my perspective of only reading the whole thing once, and some of my more favorite passages and ones peopel share here I'd be in the camp saying Resurrection through Jesus. I was under impression the heavens was up in the sky lol. Perhaps the soul can go there, perhaps not. This I do not know so, for at least in my current understandings on Bible and Jesus then I'd keep to the safe side and say I at least believe Jesus can resurrect anyone so this seems like the best answer.

You want to give chapter and verse to support that?

(3)I am only reporting scripture, I am nothing. (4) I think you are from demons trying to say scripture is not true and using me as your way to fight the Lord. I am nothing. I will gladly die for the Lord. Make your fight with the Lord and His truths, not with me. If you kill me, I will only go to the Lord. 1. Show me the scripture. My bible says paradise. That is not heaven. It is "paradeisos" in the greek, and not the same word used to describe heaven.
2. 2 Thessalonians 1:7 tells us the angels and Jesus dwell in heaven (ouranos, described as the abode of God), not paradise.
3. Then post scripture to contradict the scripture I have posted. Do it, then talk about it.
4. If that is what you think, then you lie. And apparently you lie often. I post scripture to support everything I say. Again, bring scripture, not your opinions, to the table, that denies my statements.
5. Finally you have provided a motive for your refusal to accept the word of God.

Phil paradise is a temporal place where the righteous go after death.

There will be a new heaven later down the road (Revelations 21-22)

I was raised a Christian. As I grew I progressively fell away from God from time to time. A global event destroyed my life and I became angry at God. I fell into deception and forgot I believed in God. I was a staunch atheist (although this was rebellion essentially) and a heretic for about a decade.
My own rejection of Christian belief never felt like a rebellion. I was never angry with God. I started moving from belief because the biblical explanation of things came to make less and less sense. Belief simply fell away.

It went from atheism->heretic->Eastern philosophy (to remedy the hate I was consuming)...
Why would you say that you went from atheism to heresy? What is the difference? Heresy is simply the view of the religious toward atheism, is it not?

I too explored eastern philosophy (I have a statue of Buddha on my desk to this day), but I quickly came to see it as just another false system of belief. I've never felt myself consumed by hate.

danalee said:
-> general interest in mythologies...
I've always been interested in mythology, and from the beginning have seen it as a primitive attempt to understand the world that we call home.

danalee said:
-> now the people I hang around are pagans...
Why would someone who thinks of herself as an atheist jump right into the lap of another faith system that required belief in gods? Atheists don't believe in gods.

danalee said:
-> the pagans were only the beginning -> right in the lap of satan (mostly setians and crowley followers...
I've always avoided New Age religion. The occult did hold my curiosity for a while, but by age 25 I decided the so-called evidence for it had flawed thinking. I wonder though, you wouldn't have associated any of this with Satan at the time. You have only come to see Satan in it after adopting the Christian perspective, yes?

I later came to see my early interest in the occult as an attempt to hang on to a belief in the afterlife.

->near death from suicide by starvation -> seizures -> a quickening and realization of deception -> a vision of hell before death -> another quickening and then a plea to God -> God answering me and filling me with an overwhelming presence of love and a full explanation of all I had been through and of Christ. He encouraged me to walk, to drink, to eat, to survive.
Happily so.

A friend of mine, before I knew him, had sunk into a downward spiral of drug use. A vision of Christ gave him the strength and motivation to claw his way back. By the time I met him he had become a happy and well adjusted individual with a young family. We became good friends. He is now an atheist and interprets his vision of Christ as a fatigue and drug induced hallucination derived from his early Christian up-bringing. I tend to agree.

Hell is real, so is Jesus.
A matter of religious opinion. As my friend shows, there are always others ways of interpreting our experiences.

danalee said:
When people saw the miracle of how God saved the disgusting person I was (I actually really died that day, I don't even know that person) - it glorified him. And my life in him continues to glorify him. Jesus Christ is my lord and my Savior.
Thank you for sharing. It sounds like you had a rough time of things for a while, and I am glad you found a better way.

it deeply saddens me that your friend thinks a drug induced hallucination saved him from the very things causing the hallucinations in the first place.

The story reminds me of the parable of the sower.

18 “Therefore hear the parable of the sower: 19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside. 20 But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; 21 yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles. 22 Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

You are assuming that God can't/won't talk to someone in the depths of their despair? There is no reason to think that Cycel is not telling the truth. If anything is sad about this, it is your assumption that God has never pulled a drug user or drunkard out of the sewer.

"paradise" "not heaven" And we are to fight about which word? I lie. You always post scripture accurately, never opinion. I refuse to accept God. I lie often. You get bolder and bolder in your insults. I will have to let you take over with them, so have away with it all.

Insults? The truth is an insult to you? You said the bible said the thief would be in heaven. It doesn't. That is a lie. You never admit being wrong, yet you have been proven to be so, time and time again.
You were wrong, and by not admitting so, you made it a lie. That is truth, proven by your own words that I showed the room by quoting your posts.

13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. 15 For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord,
1 Thessalonians 4:13-15 (ESV)....( through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.) asleep is the word for death! and since he will bring us with him!! means that we would be there already!! brought to the new earth..
