I've received some concerns from people engaging in debates/discussions on here. So figured I'd clear up some things.

If someone has a different view than you, it's just a different view. They aren't attacking you, they're just stating things as they see it.

On the other hand, if someone actually attacks you personally and starts calling you names or insulting you, then that is a personal attack and it should be reported to a moderator, so we can deal with the situation.

Please don't interpret different opinions as personal attacks. Also if someone says their opinion rather passionately, please don't interpret that as a personal attack either. They're simply stating their opinion with passion.

Thanks.

Absolutely. By no means we're any of my comments meant to be a personal attack and if they were taken that way then I humbly apologize and do ask for forgiveness. I think by now most folks already know that I can be pretty passionate about certain issues. Which is exactly why I allow someone with an opposing opinion a lot of freedom to state their mind / case.

The thing to remember here is if you easily get motion sickness then you should probably avoid hopping on the roller coaster. ;)

If we are to debate as Christians it means our primary goal isn't to defeat an opponent or to "win".

If we debate as Christians our primary goal should be to love our Christian brothers and attempt to work out the meaning of the Bible in humility. It is God's book and not our own.

When we raise our interpretation of the book above loving our fellow Christian, we have made an idol. We must defend truth but we must do so in humility and love.

Amen to that. That was very well said.

boomerangs are ok because if you watch you can see them coming, knives are a problem for me because 28% of all deaths among honey bees are due to knife attackes. i dont stand for that

Jesus called the Pharisees names bad names--and Pontuis Pilate, I think, a fox.

So I think there is a legitimate way to call people harsh names in hopes they will change...I do not think you can get much harsher than Jesus talking to them, and addressing them with things like 'brood of vipers', 'white-wahsed walls', 'graves people walk over without knowing it' and 'God haters'.

I am not advanced enough in following the Lord to do it, but I am just saying that it does seem like you can be Christian enough to be a name caller--though they won't teach that one in Sunday school...because they like to focus on that simple verse in Paul's letters to do your best to be at peace with everyone...as if those sunday school teachers would go back in time and tell Jesus "there is no room for this language, just calm down."

Remember the Lord is always loving--even when being harsh.

ps. I do not plan to call you any names, you NO NAME CALLER...lol
