If you could design your own personal, no-holds-barred Bible, (versions, notes, materials, layout, etc.), what would it be?

Mine would be...

Materials: Large, Medieval-style hardcover, 1800s vintage style, with heavy vellum-like paper.

Version: New King James, with Coverdale's Apocrypha & Psalter

Layout: Single-column, with verse numbers separated on the sides of the page

Notes: Glossa Ordinaria (English translation) and Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary

Extra Material: William Tyndale's introduction, coupled with individual book prologues and prefaces from Jerome and Wycliffe/Purvey, and an index with words keyed to Strong's Concordance + maps. Also a subsection with the books The Apostolic Fathers and the Diatessaron of Tatian

----------------

I know, never going to happen (it'd be massive!), but it's nice to dream! How about you?

Accuracy first, then real pages you can turn as well as the functions of an ipad/tablet.

I just put it all on a audio CD and have Morgan Freeman narrating the whole entire Bible.

LOL @ 4enlightenment

When i first read the topic I thought you were talking about how the bible was written lol, I was going to be like ''' and they all went to heaven, the end''

How about a Matrix-Bible jack, you plug it in the back of your head and in 5 seconds you know the bible.XD
But on a more realistic note lets go with this.

  • Lets make it easy to read with med sized letters, but not a huge 10lb bible, like the size of a novel.

  • markers for chapters sticking out.

  • Dark cover with a golden cross on the front :p

  • is slightly rugged so I don't have to worry about ruining it.

  • yellow edges on the paper for the new testament section.

  • An index glossery of different instances ie - Jesus performs miracles, which tells you all verses in the bible that that happens, as well as an index for other kinds of categories for easy bible cruising.

  • Single column with amplified bible style explanation at the bottom.

  • Hebrew, and Greek original translation on the side for 'important' areas. explaining original definitions of words.

  • Pre highlighted areas of importance.?? I can go either way on this.

  • Comes with a vile of holy water / anointing oil ( ok now I'm just being ridiculous XD )

  • God talks to you when you hold it and pray.

It must be accurate in wording. The pages just right for
turning, not flimsy. I would like calfskin leather in shade
of taupe. The Title on front would say:

HOLY WORD OF GOD, THE WAY, TRUTH AND LIFE.

Take out all of the verse numbers and chapter breaks as they are laid out now. Some of the chapter breaks do not make sense as the thought is often broken and then continued on in the next "chapter".

Ok, a button on the side that reads the page in Morgan Freeman's voice would be great...

Come to think of it, some hand-drawn illuminations would be cool too. Maybe I should just start compiling these things and make my own; there certainly are enough self-publishing options these days.

If I could design my own Bible, I would rearrange all the books in alphabetical order. It may throw off the chronology a little bit (and the storyline of redemptive history), but at least I could learn my abc's at the same time!!!

And in regards to salvation being in Jesus only, on the cover I would have the following words engraved,

"Abandon Hope In Oneself All Ye Who Enter Here"
