Not that I know of. I believe Kabbalah teachings are a fairly recent phenomena (from no earlier than the Middle Ages period).

I also wrote "or its contemporary equivalent". The so called mysticism in question is by root way older than the Middle Ages and may go under different names or simply various tradition.

Mark 7:13Making the word of God of no effect through your tradition, which you have delivered: and many such things do you.

[SUP]Gal. 1:6 [/SUP]I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, [SUP]7 [/SUP]which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. [SUP]8 [/SUP]But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. [SUP]9 [/SUP]As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.
[h=3]Call to Apostleship[/h][SUP]11 [/SUP]But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man.[SUP]12 [/SUP]For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]For you have heard of my former conduct in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God beyond measure and tried to destroy it. [SUP]14 [/SUP]And I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries in my own nation, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my fathers.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace,[SUP]16 [/SUP]to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood, [SUP]17 [/SUP]nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went to Arabia, and returned again to Damascus.

Col 2:6So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, 7rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

8See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.

16Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.17These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ. 18Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize. Such a person goes into great detail about what he has seen, and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with idle notions. 19He has lost connection with the Head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.
20Since you died with Christ to the basic principles of this world, why, as though you still belonged to it, do you submit to its rules: 21“Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!”? 22These are all destined to perish with use, because they are based on human commands and teachings. 23Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.

Just? Just Scripture?
By belittling Scriptures isn't that how 'Kabbalah's' get started?

Kabbalah: Primary texts
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Like the rest of Rabbinic literature, the texts of Kabbalah were once part of an ongoing oral tradition, though, over the centuries, much of the Oral Torah has been written down. The written texts are obscure and difficult for readers who are unfamiliar with Jewish spirituality which assumes extensive knowledge of the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible), Midrash (Jewish hermeneutic tradition) and Halakha (practical Jewish law).

no.....the Scriptures are not obscure, we don't need a little cabal of learned masters.

Definition of PERSPICUOUS
: plain to the understanding especially because of clarity and precision of presentation <a perspicuous argument>

Kabbalah is Jewish mysticism, what is mysticism?

mys·tic

[mis-tik] Show IPA

adjective 1. involving or characterized by esoteric, otherworldly, or symbolic practices or content, as certain religious ceremonies and art; spiritually significant; ethereal.

2. of the nature of or pertaining to mysteries known only to the initiated: mystic rites.

3. of occult character, power, or significance: a mystic formula.

4. of obscure or mysterious character or significance.

5. of or pertaining to mystics or mysticism.

The things above are things that our bible speaks against.

Matthew 15
[SUP]7 [/SUP]Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
[SUP]8 [/SUP]This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?
[SUP]14 [/SUP]Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

2 Peter 1:19-21
King James Version (KJV)
[SUP]19 [/SUP]We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, ^ SCRIPTURES ^ until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
[SUP]20 [/SUP]Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
[SUP]21 [/SUP]For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Kabbalah ---> (1Tim4:1) seducing spirits and doctrines of devils; <--- (Heb13:9) be not carried about with diverse and strange doctrines...

Crossnote, you know what I mean. Scripture without any opinion. It's a discussion, not a TommyCutandPasteathon.

Tintin,
I didn't see Tommy on the thread and I take it you were referring to Abiding's post which had (unlike Tommy's) very a propos Scriptures especially those from Colossians. I have nothing against people using Scriptures only in some of their posts as often it yields the best answer to a question. But no hard feelings, just me being me amongst friends.

p.s. you are no relation to Rin are you?

No worries. It was more the method than the heart of the quotes. No, I'm no relation of Rin Tin Tin. Tintin is a boy reporter/detective from a Belgian adventure comic series from 1929-1982.

Sorry about that, Abiding. Not cool of me to compare your post to a Tommy Cut and Paste.

Abiding made his point in those scriptures he presented. Any Christian will base their answer to your question on scriptures. There's no better way to answer your question.

Jesus teachings attracted the poor, the weak and downtrodden of society. He taught a simple message through parables that appealed to them. How did that message become so complicated ?
