“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:3-4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Foundational Truth to believe and then doctrine based upon hearing it and believing it’s true where does it lead a believer not a non believer who needs and rejects it but where does the doctrine lead someone who hears and believes ?

i believe Jesus died for my sins was buried and raised up again the third day after so what shall I do then ? Nothing ? Anything ?

“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:3-5, 8, 11‬ ‭

If I didn’t first believe Jesus died for my sins why would I get baptized into his death for my sins ? How would I know that baptism is into his death for my sins without the doctrine that follows the statement ? Is this just another baptism thread ?

Remember the foundational truth jesus gave his body and blood his life and death for us to us so what about the doctrine regarding it ?

“For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: and when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. ( only someone who hears about and believed that Jesus gave his body for them would do this or believe it )

After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. ( only believers would hear and observe such a thing ) Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. ( this would only concern believers who hears about this )

But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. ( again only someone who hears this doctrine is going to know it or ever think it )

For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.”( lots of folks will scoff and say communion has nothing to do with anything )
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭11:23-30‬ ‭

Faith is what doctrine is made of when we first have to believe Jesus does and rose and then we’re supposed to learn the applicable doctrine given Tony’s by the lord the motivation for something like getting baptized is faith in Christ and his atonement for us . The reason we partake of communion is because we believe what the lord said about communion regarding his body and blood we profess

consider learning what Jesus and his apostles taught believers to believe and do and how it goes directly to Jesus death and resurrection

God bless you and thanks for the interactions over the past couple years !!!

Actually, the Holy Spirit baptises with the precious blood of Jesus our Christ. Not water. Water is NOT necessary for the cleansing of our sins, and making us worthy to be called the children of the Living God.

(but, hey, nice try)

This is a False Statement ------and needs to be pointed out ------

The Holy Spirit is likened unto water -----The Holy Spirit is called ----the living water -----

there is no such scripture to say that the Holy Spirit represents the Blood of Christ ----------

Hebrews 10:22 -
--washed with pure water.---------- Represents the Holy Spirit

Amplified Bible
let us approach [God] with a true and sincere heart in unqualified assurance of faith, having had our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

No one said the Holy Spirit "represents" the blood of Jesus. Scripture teaches that the precious blood of Jesus is "applied" by the Holy Spirit at the time of our salvation.

Ephesians, Chapter 4:

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
3Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
4There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
5One Lord, one faith,
one baptism,
6One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

1 John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:7 - But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Titus 3:5 - Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Water baptism does NOT cleanse us of our sins, Water baptism does NOT provide us with eternal salvation. ONLY the blood of Jesus can do this!

Any who teach water baptism required for salvation is presenting a false teaching. Period..............

Your Quote here does not say ---what you quoted here ----

Scripture teaches that the precious blood of Jesus is "applied" by the Holy Spirit at the time of our salvation.

No where is the blood mentioned here in the Baptism --------The Holy Spirit witnesses with our Spirit that we are a child of God ------The Holy Spirit changes out corrupt Spirit to a Holy Spirit -----and we are heaven bound -----

The Blood Of Jesus had to be Shed ---to cover our Sins ------the Holy Spirit does not Apply the Blood upon us at Salvation ----that is a ridiculous False Statement ---

Your Baptised by the Holy Spirit ---who is likened unto Water -------and the shed Blood Of Jesus covers your sins ------The Holy Spirit has nothing to do with the BLOOD JESUS SHED

In Mark 1:8 and John 1:33, the Baptist proclaimed that Jesus "will baptize in (the) Holy Spirit"; while in Matthew 3:11 and Luke 3:16, he "will baptize with Holy Spirit and fire".

The Holy Spirit is referred to BY JESUS AS the LIVING WATER -------it is LIFE GIVING WATER ---it gives you eternal life --

Read Jesus with the woman at the well ------where He says I can give you the Living Water -----where you will thirst no more -----

Hi I understand how you mean it and about water is not necessary for the cleansing of our sins. We could have left it there but.. some have to point out "baptized with the precious blood of Jesus" is not written which is true but.. I understood. As for water and repent John B said "John answered them all, saying, “I baptize you with water, but he who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire."

Now in Matt its a tad different "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:"

Matt again the AMP "As for me, I baptize you with water because of [your] repentance [that is, because you are willing to change your inner self—your old way of thinking, regret your sin and live a changed life], but He (the Messiah) who is coming after me is mightier [more powerful, more noble] than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to remove [even as His slave]; He will baptize you [who truly repent] with the Holy Spirit and [you who remain unrepentant] with fire (judgment). "

But were not talking about when Christ walked this earth and what they did before He died and rose are we?

All I can say about the OP post. you notice I didn't have to make any words here shine or stand out. See I never do that.. He does. If I do it then its just me.

Water…not water…fire…Spirit…Christ…etc… all baptisms have a spiritual component. If they do not (like baptism for church membership) they are not legitimate.
Thank you @Pilgrimshope for this post!

just sharing what seems to me to be obvious if we just let the Bible read as it reads and don’t refuse it and create other things you can see a harmony in the doctrine revolving around Christ Jesus and his atoning sacrifice

In things like baptism , and communion but the only way to actually see that harmony is to read what it says and let it be true it’s how we know what things mean like communion

“For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: and when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭11:23-30‬ ‭KJV‬‬

see brother I’ve learned that things like that are plain and true , but some won’t hear it others will

some will learn that about communion and reject it on its face and leave it thinking “ communion “ doesn’t mean a thing Jesus died and rose I’m saved the end …..

Others will hear it as it is and begin to understand communions significance to God

Not so much what do we think out communion but what did he and his apostles tech about it …why do we take communion ? Is there more Paul taught ? Jesus taught Peter maybe ? About communion ?

some will hear things others won’t yet maybe later but I’ve come to learn some will hear it and some won’t yet I don’t know why that is and I’m sure there are things I just won’t hear also ……we humans are odd

Yes. neither Jesus nor the Apostles water baptized anyone who had not first accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior. That is the "correct" baptism. The baptism of the Holy Spirit upon accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior.

Water baptism is important because Jesus said to do it. Why? Because water baptism serves as a "witness" to both the world and the Church that a person has become a believer in and follower of Jesus the Christ. The Holy Spirit baptism (which is unto salvation) is not visible to the human eye because it is a "spiritual" event. Thus the need for the "witness" of water baptism. People can try all they want to make water baptism required for eternal salvation, but they do so contrary to Scripture. Only the blood of Jesus can cleanse us of our sins and make us worthy to be called the children of the Living God, and heirs to the Promise...

He did not enter by the blood of goats and calves, but He entered the Most Holy Place once for
all by His own blood, thus securing eternal redemption. For if the blood of goats and bulls and
the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that their
bodies are clean, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered
Himself unblemished to God, purify our consciences from works of death, so that we may serve
the living God! Therefore Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called
may receive the promised eternal inheritance, now that He has died to redeem them from the
transgressions committed under the first covenant. Hebrews 9:12-15

Titus 3:5
He saved us, not by the righteous deeds we had done, but according
to His mercy, through the washing of new birth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

You still have to be washed by the blood.

And I believe it's the spiritual blood. That exists in the Holy spirit, it's called the living water.

The living water baptises you in to the body of Christ to be cleansed with his spiritual blood, through the Holy spirit baptising you into water. and resurrecting you in Christ through water baptism, for the acceptance of your faith and remission of sins.

Again if the holy spirit does not baptise you and you don't receive baptism of the holy spirit.

Then you have not believed. It's that simple.

“Yes. neither Jesus nor the Apostles water baptized anyone who had not first accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior. “

yes i agree non believers would not be getting baptized for remission of sins which is what baptism should s and has always been since zgod sent z John the Baptist filled with his Holy Spirit to baptize the people in preparation for the messiah granting the knowledge of remission of sins ……one of my points regarding baptism is only someone who heard and believed the doctrine would get baptized

“Water baptism is important because Jesus said to do it. Why? Because water baptism serves as a "witness" to both the world and the Church that a person has become a believer in and follower of Jesus the Christ. “

what does it mean according it Jesus and his apostles though ?

“in whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:11-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Do you see how the subject of baptism is based on first believing this ?

“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:3-4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

what this post is about isnt “ baptism “ it’s not a baptism thread brother . Do you see how Jesus dying for our sins and bein buried and raised up again is what comes first herring and believing that part ? My point is that’s the reason this makes any sense at all

“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: ( there’s that same phrase again buried with him not death by baptism )

that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death,( again back to that phrase about being buried in the likeness of his death )

we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. ( now we’re coming to the power of the doctrine but only for someone willing to moisten and hear what he’s saying about baptism without hearing it we’ll never know )
Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, ( Christ died for our sins ) but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.”( rose for our justification )
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:3-7, 11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

this post was never to argue the necessity of baptism it was an example of his doctrine is based upon that which the person first hears and believes

the reason someone is going to get baptized is because they heard the doctrine of what it means to get baptized

sits the hearing of faith without hearing the e message about baptism we’re always going to just go in a circle and wonder why something so silly is part of the biblical doctrine of salvation

In it’s most basic form Jesus said to get baptized in his name I agree but the Bible also well explains what it means when a person chooses to get baptized into the name of Christ who died for them and rose again

The key to understanding is the conformity of the doctrine built upon the foundational truths of the gospel

For one example “Jesus died for our sins was buried rose again the third day “

That’s a foundational truth that we have to believe and if we do the things taught about baptism became simple and clear and make perfect harmonic sense and it doesn’t present as some mystery

This is baptism that God almighty established from beforehand in prophecy

“John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: and there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:4, 9-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

this is baptism after Jesus died and rose and was exalted to his throne

“This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, ( what should we do?)

and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.( this is what gift you’ll receive )

For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:32-33, 37-41‬ ‭KJV‬‬

a note some didn’t receive his words they rejected what he was saying so of course they wouldn’t get baptized but those who accepted what he said they gladly got baptized knowing what it meant remission of thier sins in his name who died for our sins who believe

we get baptized in his name for remission of our sins …..only because we believe he died for our sins

Faith works based on what we hear and allow to be true
