Yep, there are 3 voices.

1. God voice, spiritual thing.

2. Devil, let enjoy sex movie

3. Us, decide wich voice we have to follow.
There are carnal benefits to following spiritual principles. God's voice can (and should be) very practical, as He leads us. Consider how vocal and involved the Holy Spirit was in the lives of believers (including the apostles), telling them where to go and not go. The Lord's voice is known, it is recognized, it is confirmed if necessary. Yes, a spiritual thing, but not limited only to this. I am not saying He will lead you into temptation ("do not say, "I am tempted of God"), but His voice goes beyond the spiritual and into the physical.

I get what you're saying, but Luigi's comment puts God in a box of his own imagination. In fact limiting God. God can lead us to victory in all areas of life, for He knows all things.

I agree with the Lord also taking care of our physical needs, as the Lord attests to this in Matthew 6:31-32. I, however, do not believe in the money hungry prosperity movement, which is another way than the Lords Way.

Matthew 6:31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

I would disagree

how do we overcome?

again, the Bible says to renew our minds by the word, so it's not a self effort

the more truth we know, FROM THE BIBLE, the more we recognize what is false

Jesus overcame the temptations of the devil by using OT scripture...we have the NT also now

I would go so far as to say that we cannot overcome the devil in our own flesh no matter how hard we try

as far as carnal desires go, the NT says we are dead with Christ, so using the word is agreeing with the new nature we have in Christ
I agree that we hear the Lord through His Word in the bible.
I've stated as much in my first post #6 on this thread.

Carnal benefit in good sense yes,

Food is carnal, we need food. Some people think adultery, greed is also carnal.

I’m not disagreeing with your comment but you seem to be somebody who has the ability to wrap your head around this. Basically what is written in the Bible is hand picked stories and letters. Even though the transcripts they found may be devinely inspired, the collection and interpretation is subject to “confirmation bias”. My point here is, the stories you read are of disciples who have followed the Spirit and their account is confirmation. What about the countless disciples who thought they were following the Spirit to victory, made great sacrifices and were wrong? Just as there are many incongruent ideas of Christianity today, what about back then? The Church of Rome has decided for us what is pertinent. The Church of Rome has proven to be heretical. The only way to know the voice of God, is to know God. Seek Him and find Him, and you will “hear” His “voice”. When we are “in” Him, and He “in” us, it is no different then the brain signaling for the leg to move, and it moves. The voice is not involved, the Body is One. We are the Body.

Good post Hungry. Confirmation bias has been describes as an internal "yes man". We read what we believe, rather than believing what we read, IOW.
