After 6 days of making everything, God instituted the Sabbath. It was not a Jewish law because at this point, Jews did not exist. The reason for this seventh day rest is because one gets tired after working 6 days in a row. It is a God-ordained day of rest.
Entering God's salvation-rest is about accepting Christ's atonement as our only basis of acceptance by God. It is about ceasing from trying to obey or please God, and thus being accepted by Him, by our own efforts, or works.
If one thinks that they are 99% accepted by Christ's atonement, but the other 1% is due to their own effort, perhaps because it just isn't fair that you get off completely scot-free, then at this point, one has entered into unbelief. Our salvation is by faith alone(true faith is always followed by works), and even this faith is a gift from God, "lest any man should boast."
I "observe" the Sabbath only because I believe it's God's idea and if it's His idea, then it would be smart for me to listen to Him. It has nothing to do with being saved or not. We are under the new covenant, not the old.
I am accepted unconditionally by Father God because of what Christ did. And this is His idea, not mine. I've arrived at this place through many years of bible study, soul-searching, and repentance. I believe this is working out one's salvation. And I'm not saying I've arrived or I'm perfect, because I'm not.
This journey began for me when, after earnestly seeking Him for 4 months, He gave me a revelation, in a vision, of His unconditional love for me. It was the best day of my life. The day I met my Father. My heart glowed from this experience for years. Every time I opened my mouth, I talked about it.
The beautiful thing is that He doesn't play favorites when it comes to His love for His children. If you are in Christ, this is for you too!
I am adopted through faith in Christ. He is my Father and I am His son...for eternity. I can do whatever I want, if I so chose, as I have free will, but He will discipline me.
Your view of the Sabbath is domestic. It's very common.

Domestic views of scripture are expedient for kings and for rulers who want to subjugate the people.

God gave the Jews the Law of the Sabbath as a type and shadow of the reality of heaven. It was a call into the 7th Day as an eternal pattern of living. God did not get tired from His labor. He rested on the 7th day to establish the economy by which men would live: in rest. God continues to rest to this day and He invites all men into this same rest through Christ. Rest is a lifestyle of the sons of God wherein they only do what they see the Father doing. In rest, man puts down his own work and picks up the works of the Father that have been prepared for him in Christ.

"8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy." - Exodus 20:8
" Therefore the people of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, observing the Sabbath throughout their generations, as a covenant forever. It is a sign forever between me and the people of Israel ..." - Exodus 31:16
He didn't say until the covenants change.
I observe the Sabbath as an act of worship. What you do is up to you. If I say any more, I'll just be repeating myself. Sheesh!
If someone dies, are they still subject to the Sabbath Law?

Hint: of course not.

Col. 216Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. 17These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.

In the Old Testament the literal physical rest of the Sabbath pointed to future rest; but since Christ has brought fulfillment in terms of salvation rest, it is the present enjoyment of this rest that acts as the foretaste of the consummation rest which is to come. In other words, it is the celebration on the Lord’s Day of the rest we already have through Christ’s resurrection that now anticipates and guarantees the rest that is yet to be. (From Sabbath to Lord’s Day, 399)

BTW, there is no eighth day sabbath. According to Rev. 1, that is simply known as the Lord's day.
People forget that if you keep the sabbath, you have to keep all of them.

"For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
Mat_22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Mar_12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
Luk_10:27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

This question is for everyone. How do YOU LOVE GOD with all your heart, soul and mind? Do you just do it mentally with you mind? Do you feel it in your heart or soul? Do you put action behind these words for others to see that action? An example just comes to my mind. You have a son or a daughter and you tell them I need you to put the garbage can out to the street on Monday morning. You can't be much more clearer, can you? So come Monday morning the city garbage truck passes your house because the gargabe can is not there. You approach the child, refraining from anger, and calmly tell them the garbage can is full and we must now wait a whole other week to put the can out to the street for garbage truck to pick up and empty the garbage can. Child says "yes, sir". Next Monday comes and the child fails to put the can to the street. Child thinks, my father is full of grace and mercy, it will be ok. Father is not ok with the failure to meet the date and time needed to meet up with the garbage truck so they can empty the can. Do you give the child a third chance? And what about the overflowing garbage bags that will not fit in the one alloted can? How can we fix this problem? Oh I know, let's accommodate the child's disobedience and tell him/her you know longer are responsible to keep the Monday trash day appointment. What else can the child do? Go out and play? Or is there rules and punishments in your house? Curses and Blessings. Are there blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience?

When we continually find excuses to not meet with the LORD on His day, we fail to empty ourselves of our own personal garbage and it begins to pile up each week. Taking and Remembering the Sabbath day to keep it HOLY is your responsibility and there are earthly rewards as well as heavenly rewards when you keep the Sabbath day to keep it HOLY. Notice it was already Holy and as you keep it and begin to learn from the instructions manual, life is less of a burden. Also the seventh day represents the seventh millenium. We are now at the close of the sixth millenium (ie last days/end of time, etc.). Do you think you will be the one that Jesus says I know you not...you workers of iniquity/law-less-ness?

Mat_25:12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
Luk_13:25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
Luk_13:27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.

What I am saying is that I believe that God instituted it because He knew it was good for man to take a day off once a week. I don't accept legalism from Jews and I don't accept it from Christians. I allow no man to put me in bondage. I think for myself.
If you think differently than me, I'm fine with that since that is your right, and my salvation does not rest on what anyone says, but on the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit in me. I don't like being insulted and having words put in my mouth, though.

Jesus died to set us free from all that bondage. Traditional Judaism denies and opposes the Gospel. One needs to choose. One cannot straddle the fence. One must not deny or belittle Jesus' Atonement.
The Disciples Kept the Sabbath 85 Times in the book of Acts (Note: after the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus) Why weren't the disciples set free from all that bondage?

We walk by the Spirit not by law. See 2 Corinthians 3. If the Spirit tells you that you need to keep the Sabbath then by all means you should do so. But to say everyone must "meet with the LORD on His day" is irresponsible and against the Spirit.

You don't yet understand what it means to be set free.

"And this occurred because of false brethren secretly brought in (who came in by stealth to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage), to whom we did not yield submission even for an hour, that the truth of the gospel might continue with you." But I take my lead from NT, not OT. The observation of weekly worship is found in NT as well as old.
I take the Holy Spirit's lead, very careful, very slow. Some might even call me stubborn. I've studied, and obeyed, that word for decades.
It is by Christ, in the Spirit, that I know the Father. My destination.
As a reflex response to Him giving me a revelation of His love for me, I love Him back. I love everything about Him. Elohim, as in Genesis 1:26, plural. 3 and yet 1! Learning of my Hebrew ancestry has just enriched my walk with Him. I desire to love Him above all others.
Out of this comes my desire to love others. Sometimes I don't do a very good job of it. Sometimes I don't love myself very good. But I believe He's restoring, healing my soul. My desire is to know Him more...until the day we are all with Him for eternity in the New Jerusalem.
They asked me to sing a song I wrote, at my new church sometime. Long ago, I used to lead the worship team on Sunday mornings. Today, I am a happy camper! I'm going to a prayer meeting tonight, the first one in decades. I've been quite ill for a long time and I gave up on ever being able to have a life worth living again. I recently started on a new medication that is really helping me. I'm starting to believe that I still have some living to do, that I can still help the Lord. Hallelujah!

It was not bondage to them. Obedience out of love is not bondage. We obey out of love, not out of fear of the OT Law.

You can't turn the commands of the Spirit into commands written in stone; it doesn't work that way.

"So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God. Therefore let’s not judge one another anymore, but rather determine this: not to put an obstacle or a stumbling block in a brother’s or sister’s way." Romans 14:12-13

Do you have a teaching on your theology? Bible verses that explain what it is your saying?

yes. israel and israel. we are not israel in the wilderness. we are in the new covenant.

but since you want to claim israel, here is something from the same book of exodus

Exodus 29:39-42

"One lamb you shall offer in the morning, and the other lamb you shall offer at twilight... This shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the tabernacle of meeting before the Lord, where I will meet you to speak with you.

same book of exodus. go and offer the lamb for the sacrifice. if the sabbath commandment is for today cause it says throughout generations, then this one is too, its in the same book, exodus.

this is what i was talking about. you are showcasing the problem with the hebrew roots movement. going all over the tanakh to try to prove you gotta keep the sabbath, while ignoring some of the rest of the commandments in the same book of exodus. its pretty bad theology and very inconsistent.

Mat_15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new (renewed) covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

The giving of the covenant at Mount Sinai was written on stone tablets, and the Hebrews and the sojourners were willing to say "All that the Lord says we will do". It was a marriage contract. But there hearts were hard and they were unable to keep their end of the contract. The result was God divorced the House of Israel. And a better covenant was to be put in place. This time with the Helper and Comforter to put the Law in their inward parts and write it in their hearts so that they can remarry God.

Oh but wait! God's own law forbids remarrying the adulterous wife - ie. The House of Israel (lost sheep).
Dueteronomy 24:1-4 1. When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house. 2 And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife. 3 And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife; 4 Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the LORD: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

The prophet Jeremiah knew of God's plan to take the House of Israel back and remarry, but he exclaimed that he could not understand how God can break his own law.

Jer 3:1 They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return unto her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the LORD.

However, the apostle Paul figured out the mystery of the gospel.

Rom 7:1 Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?
Rom 7:2 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.
Rom 7:3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.
Rom 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

Mat_15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Jesus came as God in the flesh, so that He could die, be buried and resurrect so that the LOST SHEEP OF THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL CAN NOW REMARRY THE LORD because the law that applies to marriage and divorce has been made nullified.

Heb 8:7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
Heb 8:8 For finding fault with them, (not the first covenant but with the people) he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
Heb 8:9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
Heb 8:11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
Heb 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

I do not see Jesus coming to make a New Religion called the Church that does away with the covenant of marriage to the House of Israel and House of Judah. I do not see Jesus changing God's laws, but repeatedly says over and over that He does the Father's will.

I do see teachings in the New Testament of adoption and grafting and becoming part of the commonwealth of Israel.

In Revelation we can see the New Religion called Church do not keep the Lord's commandments, and the Jews do not have the faith of Jesus.

Rev_12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Rev_14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

What does it take to be one of God's people?
Exo_31:13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.
Eze_20:12 Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them.
Eze_20:20 And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God.
