It doesn't matter to me if it's a young earth or an old earth personally.
The word "day" can be used to refer to more than one day in Hebrew...in fact, Genesis 2 uses it in that way.
I draw the line at believing in evolution, claiming Adam and Eve weren't special creations and somehow evolved, and claiming that the Fall wasn't a literal event though.

Attempts to reconcile erroneous science, designed to discredit God, with theology is heretical.
If there is any merit to the pseudo science of carbon dating, it is that it point to the enternallity (invented word, Samuel Clemens would be proud) of God. In that if they can see millions, and billions, and trillions of years in the material Universe, it only means one thing. That the Eternal God has been at work for an eternity passed, but it bears no effect on this manifestation of his work. In the beginning He created, all of this. What begining? The begining of this Universe, this Heavens and Earth, this era of man; what is relative to our creation.
