[STARTING A NEW THREAD because this discussion was on the "Pledge" thread, and was not really on topic in my opinion]

Does God believe our earthly families are IMPORTANT?

YES: God first! But this in no way means we are to ignore our earthly families in my opinion......for Jesus Himself, in one of His last acts while hanging on Calvary's cross SAW TO IT that His earthly mother was cared for......Believe this?

John 19:25) Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 .) When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! 27 .) Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home. 28 .) After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

Is there any doubt that Jesus believed that He should see to it that His earthy mother was provided/cared for once He left this earth?

Do any others here have Scripture showing how God wants us to treat/care for our families? If so, please post them.

God bless......

1Ti 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

1Pe 3:1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
1Pe 3:2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
1Pe 3:3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
1Pe 3:4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
1Pe 3:5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
1Pe 3:6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
1Pe 3:7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
1Pe 3:8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
1Pe 3:9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

Eph 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
Eph 6:2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
Eph 6:3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
Eph 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Eph 6:5 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
Eph 6:6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
Eph 6:7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:
Eph 6:8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.
Eph 6:9 And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.

1Co 7:3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.
1Co 7:4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.
1Co 7:5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

1Co 7:12 But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.
1Co 7:13 And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.
1Co 7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

Even in the secular world, the family is considered the basic unit. They then list community and government, but agree our society has a family base.

As we see our society becoming unsafe, so security systems and arguing about guns is part of our world, the break up of family is considered a big part of it.

God tells us it is basic to us that we respect the people God used to give us life. Sometimes that means that we cannot follow the training they give us when that training is against God's ways, but even then we are to respect that they were used by God for us.

Matthew 12:50For whoever does the will (Desires) of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

Matthew 3:17
And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

Matthew 22:37
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’

John 13:1
It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.

Hebrews 13:5
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

John 6:67
“You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve.

Matthew 27:56
Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.

25 Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman, here is your son,” 27 and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.

Matthew 27:61
Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting there opposite the tomb.

Mark 16:1
When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body.

Matthew 10:22
You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.

The followers became family members of God because they had stood on the right-side (Which means they stood with Jesus on his behave) of Jesus in spirit to the very end. The Women were considered to be Mothers since they had shown unconditional love (As if He were their son), and the disciples shown brotherly love (As if He was a brother) towards Jesus. So they have had the same desires of God.

We are supposed to love, value and care for our family, yes, but never to the detriment of our relationship with Christ. So, when it comes down to the choice of family or Christ, it is always, always Christ first, always His will first, always His plan first, and always Him at the cost of losing the family.
