That idea that "God hates us", and salvation is only about " God saving us from himself" is not a way a Christian usually thinks of salvation.

I've never heard a Christian who came up with that line of reasoning on his own.
That line of reasoning is generally a way of framing the issue which is used by atheists to attack Christianity.

So, although there ARE biblical answers to your questions, I'm very curious about WHO gave you these particular ideas?

..

Umm hum I was waiting for the other shoe to drop too. I think you nailed it.

i feel that just the fact i was born is proof God hates me lolz

they say life is a gift, but if given the choice i bet many would not accept that gift and say "no i dont want to be born"

but God does also love us. He sent His son to die on the cross for our sins. when we put our faith in Him we are saved and receive glorified bodies that are perfect.

so my answer is, yes and no like someone said before. God is not like a rock, He is complex and He can love and hate in measure at same time i believe.
The "be" verb -->IS speaks VOLUMES

GOD --->IS------>LOVE
GOD --->IS------>SPIRIT
GOD --->IS------>HOLY
GOD --->IS------> A MERCIFUL GOD
GOD --->IS------>A CONSUMING FIRE
GOD --->IS------>NOT A MAN that HE SHOULD LIE or a SON OF MAN THAT HE SHOULD CHANGE HIS MIND
GOD --->IS------>GOD of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes.

I could go on all night with truths like this..............maybe that would be a "good thread" hey.....!!

God sent his son to save us from himself, and it seems to me that only an elect few are shown God's true power thus leading to salvation. My question is:
1. is this true?
2. Why does god only pick certain people?
3. Can man choose God on his own or must God plant the seed first?
No.

When God created the world, before sin entered the world through the disobedience of man, Man was simply saved. There was no sin.

When God created angels there was no Satan. Satan was a churub. It was the rebellion of Satan that brought on death through sin to man.

Our salvation is from death through sin, not from anything of God.

God knows what we are capable of and not capable of, God knows the life we are born into. I am sure that God also knows the choices we all will make in our life. But God wants everyone to be saved. 1 Timothy 2:4; 2 Peter 3:9; Ezekiel 18:23; Matthew 23:37).

In Phil. 1:29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;
