For those who say that when we come to Christ we become perfect, that is not biblical. Let us read the words of Jesus in Mark 10:17-22.

Mark 10:17-22

[SUP]17 [/SUP]As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
[SUP]18 [/SUP]“Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. [SUP]19 [/SUP]You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honor your father and mother.’[SUP][d][/SUP]”
[SUP]20 [/SUP]“Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.”
[SUP]21 [/SUP]Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
[SUP]22 [/SUP]At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.

What is Jesus saying here? First of all he took acception to the man calling him a good teacher, the reason was because back then a rabbi was called a teacher but never good teacher, one can see this in the interaction Jesus had with the Pharisees. Anyway, onto what I was going to say. Jesus said that no one is good except God alone. So if no one can be good except God and if no one can be perfect except God, therefore the perfection that will have and will come to pass will only take place when after we have followed God and some time die, then we will be perfect as he is perfect. That command on earth that he gave is a model that we cannot achieve all the way on earth, it can only be achieved in heaven, when we know more things than we do on earth, etc. This what is called the glorification process. For now on this earth when one comes to Christ regeneration occurs (whether slow or fast and is continual), sanctification (which occurs everyday), and then glorification is the final step which occurs when a Christian dies and ultimately is perfect. Think about it, when one dies and goes to heaven instead of just being on earth, it will be easier to follow God since there will be no obstacles, struggles, etc we have to face. That is where perfection, for now all anyone can do as a Christian is follow God and his two commandments of loving Him with all our being *heart, soul, mind, and strength) and loving others as ourselves. Through that we continue to mature, but this maturing will be all the way complete when we die. The passages people use for this perfection on earth doctrine whatever version one uses are not tenable, biblical, and assume that we can save ourselves and that we do not need God, will not make mistakes, will not sin(follow the flesh nature left over), and will not stumble in our walk with Christ. This type of teaching deserves to be thrown into the garbage and everyone must confront one who is in error quietly, technologically, etc this person face-to-face, chatperson to chatperson, etc. If they don't listen after a few times, ignore them and ask God to help that person realize they are wrong, if they are indeed wrong and not you. God bless.

To willfollowsGod #147 This is great advice, thanks. The rich young ruler's story is good to demonstrate that Jesus often made statements that are not absolute ,complete, literally true.("Hard sayings", difficult to understand, to drive people away or make them think deeper into truth)) like in Jh. 6:53 ans. is in v63. 6:53 "Then Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the son of man and drink His blood you have no life in you." v.60 "this is a hard saying" v.63"It is the Spirit that gives life, The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit and they are life." Sooo, what is Jesus teaching here? As you eat food, so dwell on my words, and let them become a part of you, live them, they will give you eternal life.) Jesus kept many people in darkness by His "hard sayings" Parables were used to hid truth from the crowd and make the disciples ask Jesus for the real meaning. Sooo, what did Jesus mean by, " there is no one good except God" Jesus Him self was absolutely good, no sin. Sooo Jesus didn't mean that statement as an abs. truth. What He meant was, don't call me "good", unless you call Me "God". the man was coming to Jesus , not as to God,,. but as to a "good teacher" only. The trick of Satan is to get us to push Jesus word's to absurdity,to unbelievable. nonsense. We can not win with these people, sooo, don't arguee with them, talk to them if they will be civil, but don't get upset, pray, Satan has a "head lock" on them. I had to forget correcting my friend and encourage him to find a church where he could minister, which he did and was happy, to his dying day, He had a great ministry for Jesus. It brings me to tears of joy and concern for his wife and two precious children, he left behind, but we are helping them, ans see them often. Praise God. Love to all.

Our self-absorbed human nature is as ungodly as it is strong. That is why God gives us so much instruction about our character, demeanor, attitude, and how we are to treat other people. I was thinking about how nasty people treat each other in here and Philippians 4 came to mind. I started reading and noticed something that reminded me of cc, both in the chat and in the forums. Verse 5 “Let everyone see how reasonable and gentle you are. The Lord is near!” Obviously, it did not come to mind because we see this attitude of people in here but because it is a direct opposite to most – not all – who post on these threads. It will always be a struggle for us in some measure, and in here when one gets rude or arrogant the ball starts rolling and everyone is more prone to responding in a similar manner. I know it is like that for me. Often I simply don’t respond rather than propagate an ungodly exchange. No one seems to want to do what this passage says but I’m posting it anyway.

[h=2]Philippians 4:8-9[/h]8 In conclusion, brothers, focus your thoughts on what is true, noble, righteous, pure, lovable or admirable, on some virtue or on something praiseworthy.
9 Keep doing what you have learned and received from me, what you have heard and seen me doing; then the God who gives shalom will be with you.

Romans 8:4-9 (KJV)
[SUP]4 [/SUP]That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. [h=3]Galatians 2:20[/h]
