Hate means love less, does it not?
No 'Snail, hate means hate,
Miseo is the Koine Greek word; it means 'to detest' 'dislike', 'unwillingness', it has a very similar meaning to our English word "hate"...I can say 'I hate injustice' and mean I have an unwillingness to associate and with injustice, I detest injustice'. Christians are to be seperate from the world and unwilling to take part in unholiness and lies, but that does not mean that you must be physically removed from it alltogether, you are in the world but you are from God, you are to be a light unto the world, so it is not Christian to always runaway and hide from darkness, but to confront darkness with light. When Jesus says "Ye are salt" He means that His disciples are to be like 'salt', what is 'salt' it is a preservative, it preserves, if you alpply salt to meat it lasts much longer, it protects from infection, corruption - it simp[ly does not go rotten, so Jesus calls His follows 'salt'!
There is nothing wrong with detesting the world, there is nothing wrong with Jesus saying you must hate your own life, but at the same time does not love exist?, certainly, He is a God of love is he not? There is no contradiction in what He says, by hating yourself does not mean you should want to defile your own body and mind, abuse it, he does not say that...'We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but spiritual powers'. If there is a wicked spirit in us we should
Miseo that spirit, flesh and blood is flesh and blood, but test the spirits to see if they are from God.
