Peter wrote it this way...
To those who are elect for "obedience to Jesus."
Peter furthers the thought a little later by...
calling them "obedient children."

Later on in the following chapters he makes this statement...
Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election.

Peter is clearly speaking about the election and calling of what your job in God is supposed to be.

which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Thanks for your opinion. 🙂
I think you would agree that if you’re saved, then you need to start learning to function in the Spirit and get the breakthroughs that you and your family need. If you don’t have those desires, then you can question if you’re saved or not.

… or better said, obedient to Jesus because they are Elect.

More like...

"Then you can question if you are carnal, or not."

For if you were not saved?
You could care less.

On the other hand.. If you are concerned that you might not be saved?
That concern reveals that you do realize salvation is a reality.
For only a regenerate person can have that realization.
As for the unbeliever's concern? Apathy.
He thinks salvation is a fantasy of certain people.

For those who fear that salvation might be real and that they might miss out?
That one God is most likely in the process of drawing to Himself. Or, just flat out carnal.
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness.
Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone
to come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9

Not all elect are obedient.

If all were obedient?
We would not have the following passage!

1 Corinthians 3:11-15

For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay,
straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be
revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.

If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s
work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire."

I wonder about this because many here on this forum teach doing any works is unrighteous and they are the ones preaching Grace, predestined, foreknown, elected. Now times that by millions all over the world in these doctrines. So they are not doing good works for God at all.

But Peter is telling us these people he is writing about were elected to specifically be obedient to Jesus.

So one group says elected to do no works and another is saying elected to do good works.

Only one can be correct.

Dude, I was tracking and then all of the sudden you said “elect”.
It’s amazing how one word can discredit an entire response. Why is that word so important, and why do you have to use it? I’ve given a whole bunch of replies on this forum and so have many others without even using or thinking about that word. Perplexing hangup.

Elected for good works.
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

They confuse the reality when they see the word "works."

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves,
it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast."
Ephesians 2:8-9

They fail to see what was taking place when that was written. For religious legalism was rampant in in the ancient world.
One example: the Pharisees collectively were an issuer of promoting works that one must do to be saved!

That is how we get to see the word "works." Works = plural.
Works = system of man-designed deeds that one must do in order to earn salvation from God.

Because the anti works crowd can not discern the difference? They have misconstrued that any work is forbidden.

Even the *one work* Jesus prescribed for salvation!

John 6:28-29

Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”

Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”

The disciples inquired of Jesus to see what his system of works might be.
They asked just as many Jews did with the Pharisees. Its why we see in the Gospels people asking Jesus what works they must do to inherit eternal life.

Only one work! Not a system of works!

“This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”

There we have it
Salvation "de-Calvinized!"

Elect means simply... those whom God knew would believe, and chose for His purpose and plan to be active in our dispensation.

But Genez, you use that in literally all of your posts. I’ve looked at them and it appears to have become a stronghold for you that you filter everything you see or hear to be about predestination or election.

Lord I pray for Genez, to receive your truth to him and set him free from this stronghold. Deliver him

What you said would be the what, not the who, but God's foreknowledge is/was the who - those whom He had chosen to salvation.

[Rom 8:28-30 KJV]
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.
29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate [to be] conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Straighten me out, then!

Instead of simply telling me I'm wrong?

Tell me what is right! Give it!
I can only guess what you believe.
Whatever you might have said in this thread pertaining to what you think elect means?
I missed it...

Put your cards on the table.

Was Moses chosen onto salvation? Yes.

Was Moses chosen for being the Bride of Christ when God had chosen Moses to be saved? No.

We have been chosen IN Him. But, not Moses.

For Moses was chosen for the dispensation and purpose God had for the age of Israel.

Too many are confused over what "chosen" means.

30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
Yes! God chose us to have the same body as the Lord's glorious body!

Justified! To do so His work on the Cross was our justification, and God's justification for being free to save us.

The Resurrection will be us seeing the manifestation of the glorification God chose us for before the foundation of the world!

Please think... this is not a dogma fist fight.

We know Paul was talking about the Old Testament Saints here in Romans 8:29-30.

The idea you're promoting what has been debunked literally hundreds of years ago and thousands by the Church Fathers before modern Theologians began teaching it in Biblical Seminary and Universities.
