Has anyone read an english version of the Tanakh? How does it compare to the kj o.t.? Are there obvious translation errors between the english tanakh and the kjv ot?

I was looking at JPS Hebrew-English Tanakh and was wondering if anyone has any opinions on it.

Yes there are some difference in the English translation of the Tanakh compared to the KJV. I highly reccommend that you get it . Also it has the true name of the father in Exodus 3:14 I Am that I Am with AHAYAH ASHER AHAYAH. I highly reccommend that you learn Hebrew as well to in order to see if the translation if fit with the Hebrew. I found that there are also interjections in Hebrew due to the Massorites like Adam's name is changed like two times in Hebrew . In additon when comparing some verses I noticed that important details were left out the KJV. So I highly reccommend you get it GOD bless.

I have a Tanach and I like the way it reads and the way some verses are translated.

The KJV is not as reliable as the NASV. I cannot speak for the Hebrew Old Testament but I can say that the KJ People added to the Greek Manuscripts. I know that as I have read copies of some of the oldest manuscripts. Often the changes weren't major but on occasion they did some major damage.

have two one Koren and one JPS. Both are very well put together. It is extremely important to know and understand the Hebrew language. Because no matter what language the hebrew text is translated into. You will always be at the mercy of the translator.

However, the Hebrew we have came from the Greek Septuagint which the Apostles used in the first century.
