Can you see the importance of the book of James to the twelve tribes when they are scattered in the tribulation? It has great doctrinal significance to this time period for Israel. Read it through this lens and you will see.

James tells his audience, the twelve tribes, to look to Job for patience.
The gospel is not about the flesh of any nation.(never was) ..the seed (not seeds) is spiritual (Christ) as that not seen the eternal .

Believers with the gospel are scattered throughout the world.

All Israel is not born again Israel. Twelve tribes represent those who have the gospel of Christ (all that have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying.) Tribes as an apostles sent out into the world.

What applies to them applies to gentiles. No difference. It’s all the work of one person’s faith as a labor of His love, the labor that works as a imputed righteousness in the believer... to both will and do the good pleasure of our husband Christ..(no longer of the flesh)

And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter. And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the
gospel, and believe. And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith. (Christ's faith not of their own selves) Act 15:6-9

7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. The coming of the Lord is pointing to the Second Advent of Christ where the King shows up AFTER the rainstorm(Hosea 6:3). The precious fruit of the earth is the Jewish "firstfruits to the Lamb" right at the end of the tribulation(Rev. 14:4). The Lord has been long patient with Israel.
8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh. The is the Second Advent of Christ. James says it is near, literally.
The early rain(doctrines of God that fall like rain) is the Old testament prophecy. The veil is rent. The one time promises of a demonstration of the flesh which did not profit as a spirit work not seen, is over.

There are not two promises of the Son of God putting on the temporal flesh as the Son of man .

The antichrists are here still looking for the fulfilment of 1 John 4 not recognizing their failure to not believe . Today it is as sign against them (antichrists) . The Jews were tried and found wanting in need of the gospel .

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world1Jo 4:1

No third choice

No second promise of coming in the flesh for another demonstration of a work not seen .(lamb slain from the foundation)

I'm not going to be in the tribulation. The Judge, Jesus Christ is not standing at the door currently. Paul says He is seated at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us. When will Jesus literally be standing at the door ready to judge? At the end of the tribulation. It's seeing God's big picture.
well good for you.

But I need to count it joy when I encounter trials,

I need to be patient and let it do its work.

I need to ask God for wisdom, and ask it in faith. not wavering

I need to love God under trials. and let them do their work.

I need to remember, It is not God who temps me, But temptation comes when I am drawn away by my desires (focus on self)

I need to know every good and perfect gift comes from above,

I need to be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger, (I especially, because I can be quick to speak and become burdened with anger quite quickly when I do not rely on God)

I need to be a doer of the word, not only a hearer.

I need to receive the word with meekness

I need to remember who I was and not forget

I need to not go around and tell everyone how great I am, I have to show it by by acts of kindness to orphans and widows and others in need, and keep myself spotless in the word

I need to love my neighbor as myself and not show favoritism just because some may have and some may not have

I needed to test my faith, and make sure it is not a claimed faith only, but a living faith which not only lives, but does.

I can go on and on, but i pray you see the point, Maybe you do not need to do these things, You think you have arrived, and are all perfect? But you need to focus on James just as much as they did..

Amen brother! These all have great application to our lives no matter what time period.

I take James literal. If James says the Judge is standing before the door, then the Judge is standing before the door. If Paul says Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father, then Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father. The question comes then when is Jesus seated making intercession for the saints and when is He standing before the door ready to Judge?

Church Age - Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father making intercession for His saints.

Tribulation Age - Jesus, the Judge, is standing before the door ready to return to judge the nations of the earth.

No man knows the hour. No man, Paul told us to be ready, Jesus told us he would return quickly. Scripture tells us to be ready for Jesus could come at any time. He is the judge, both making intercession, and standing by the door. And he has been since he went to heaven (remember, to god a thousand years is like what?)

Well, :), it's kinda clear that we ain't sure when it was written, or which James wrote it......or, why "the twelve tribes."

But, there are some good thoughts here, thanks for that.

My opinion only, I believe James had a specific audience he was writing to, that being the Christians who were in other regions/cities as stated in the "source" I posted in the OP. I also believe, as with every other Book of the Bible, that what James wrote certainly has meaning for the Church today. I do not believe that this Book is a revelation Book such as the Book of Revelation, and speaking of times to come/people to come.

Reading just the First Chapter gives us so very much to digest as Christians in today's Church........

Anyway, thanks everyone...........guess one day we will know who the Author was, and why he said "the twelve tribes...."

I view the bible with dispensation glasses. I see the bible set up chronologically, that is, in order in which human events are progressing through time. Genesis being the beginning and Revelation being the end.

1. The OT records man's fall, God's plan to reconcile man through a nation, and God protecting His seed of that nation from attacks.

2. The four gospels depicts the life of the promised seed, His ministry and death.

3. The book of Acts is a transition book showing the rejection of the nation of Israel and a transition from Jew to Gentile, Peter to Paul, Jerusalem to Antioch.

4. Paul's epistles sets the doctrine for the Church Age in which we are currently living. The fullness of the Gentiles will come to a close and God will turn His attentions back to the nation of Israel to fulfill His promises. Paul records the rapture of the Church.

5. Hebrews - Revelation shows the promises being fulfilled to the nation, a tribulation period for that nation, and the Second Advent of Christ to rule and reign on the earth 1,000 years fulfilling the Scripture. The GWTJ occurs and eternity future is set with a new heaven and new earth.

That being said, James falls after the Church Age epistles chronologically, even though it was written before Paul's epistles. Therefore, I see James as a doctrinal book for the Jew in the upcoming tribulation period, although, like every book in the bible, there is great application to be had for any time period. I don't ignore James, but read it with the intended audience in mind asking God what He can teach me through His Scripture. God is in control of His book and He set it up so.
