Wow, I would derive from that type of logic that one should never move out of their parents' home. What Bible verse is that again?

This will be my last post. Only 2 days into this and I realize that there are those who are adamant about their doctrinal beliefs or personal caveats when it comes to the Christian walk. Sound doctrine is nonexistent because many lack the courage to face what the Bible really says. How many interpretations does scripture have to make itself available to? If the Holy Spirit prompted men to put these words down, who am I or who is anyone to dispute it? Face it, we're in the last days and forums like this, while well intended, serve only to promote confusion, contentions and, in some cases, corruption. I thank you for the opportunity to participate in this for the limited time i did and pray that all of you endeavor as the Word declares in Philippians 2:12, ...work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. God Bless and guide you all.

That seems to be the siren cry of our day. Jesus said in Matthew 7:21 that whoever does the will of the Father in heaven shall enter in. Again, another example of Christ' lordship in a believer's life is used. That's for a reason, the only way to make heaven is not simply by faith, but faith accompanied by works. Do His will, do His will, do His will. That should be our mantra, so to speak.
Who has done the will of the Father? John 6:40 - For My Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.

Nothing about salvation by works there. Works accompany faith as the fruit of salvation, but not the root of it. That should be your mantra. We are saved by grace through faith, not works, but for good works (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Well the bible says you can know you have eternal life by the things that are written- IF what you do matches what it says, that's how you know. And visa versa, IF you don't do what it says, you can lose / be disqualified for the prize. This goes for everyone- no matter what covenant they lived under- if you obey God you go to heaven, if you don't, you won't. A lot of people have trouble understanding this; our obedience does not earn the gift of grace, but God only gives the gift of grace to those who obey Him.

1 John 5:11 - And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

What is the "prize" in 1 Corinthians 9:27? 1 Corinthians 9:24 - Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. 25 And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. In an Olympic race, all the runners run, but only one receives what? The gold medal. Is everyone else disqualified from the Olympics or from the prize?

Who is it that obeys God? Believers or unbelievers?

Hmmmmm! I understand your frustration, and of course there are and will always be the adamant and those who promote confusion and contention on any forum like this, but there are also some great people here who love the Lord.

you sure learned a lot of absolutes about an entire population for 2 short days :p

if you want to leave, we can't stop you -- but you're going to have to put up with a lot of us for eternity -- we're all going to have to learn to get along eternally, so i like to think we may as well start getting used to one another now. :)

if you were hoping for a community where everyone just agrees with everyone and pats each other on the back, well . .
i don't know what to say about that.

but i hope you return, and stay - because iron sharpens iron. if you're right about something and others are wrong, then don't you have some responsibility to keep talking to your brothers and sisters for their sake? and if it turns out you are wrong about something and others are right, then don't you have a responsibility to keep talking to your brothers and sisters for your own sake?

He made us a body, and all of us are for each other. if we separate ourselves from each other every time we run into some disagreement about this thing or that point or some opinion or whatnot, then we'll very quickly not be a body anymore.
but God brought you here for a purpose, and brought others here for a purpose, and had you meet and interact with them for a purpose -- was that purpose to ditch as soon as you met anyone with a different view?

. . so i hate to see posts like this -- and i have reasons to disagree with their motivation.

*shrug* if you don't come back, Val, then i'll talk to you about it some more when we meet in the air. you can't escape the family of God by ducking them, not forever :)
we know where your home is, and we live there too !!

muahahaha ;)
