Am I to prove to man that my faith is true? How much works does it take to prove my faith is valid?

Romans 4:1-3
King James Version(KJV) Would you agree, that Paul Is talking about how GOD looks at Faith and James Is talking to men about whether or not their faith Is true?

If your faith Is true, proving It would be effortless, because It would be your natural reaction.

Ask the believer in 1 Corinthians 3 whose works were burned up at the JSOC, yet he himself was saved. Do you know why? The foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, the Lord knoweth them that are his. His foundation was Jesus Christ.

Hey, excellent topic to be brought back from the "hidden recesses of Bible Discussion Forums archives." :D

Hebrews 11:1

Now FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things we hope for, being the proof of things we do not see and the conviction of their REALITY (faith perceiving as real fact what is NOT revealed to the senses)

Is it any wonder we are called to walk by FAITH and NOT by Sight! if we walk by sight and sound and feelings we will be on the floor crying in confusion at this life on earth. If we walk by faith we will mount up with wings as eagles., we will run and not be weary, we will walk and NOT FAINT! ;)

Absolutely! Amen! No matter how a man builds, the foundation stands sure.

Would you agree then that salvation Is by grace alone through faith alone In CHRIST alone to the glory of GOD alone?

I'm saying you need to rightly divide and know the audience in which Scripture is addressing. Who is God addressing in this passage.

Are you discounting NT scripture?

It sounds as if you are discarding scripture that doesn't agree with faith alone. That's a lot of scripture

Do you literally apply all of Scripture to you? Or do you read it with the understanding that there is portions of it written to you that you are to obey, and there are other portions written to someone else in another dispensation that they were to obey?

All Scriptures agree, sinners are saved by repenting of sin, trusting in Jesus' blood alone as our righteousness and obeying Jesus alone as our Lord. Grace produces Faith in Christ and holiness of life.

Faith alone is a damnably doctrine. " faith that abides alone is not saving faith" The reforers acknowledged that "faith alone" is a very misleading doctrine if it is not qualified by works, that always accompany faith, or it is dead. the Rom. Cath. theo. of faith and works were more biblical; Seen in their debate with Luther. But many R.C.T. turned it into a works system. This can not to helped; Many turn truth into error. Todays Fundies turn grace into license to sin. Both extremes are wrong.

So did those in Paul's day that lead the Holy Spirit to respond, "God forbid." God forbid us to think that grace allows us to sin. God certainly does not approve. Btw, I've never heard a Christian claim "grace" in order to justify their sin. Most believers know this is a wrong attitude.
