Before I accepted Christ as my lord and savior I was so skeptical about Jesus. I was wondering how he could be the messiah. and I was so skeptical that I accused Jesus of being the devil in disguise. Now I've accepted him as my lord and savior a year ago and I don't believe that anymore. I believe that he really is who he said he is and I believe it all! but I still feel worried and I couldn't believe that I accused Jesus of being the devil and I feel really worried. Am I forgiven for such a claim? did I commit blasphemy of the holy spirit? I am sincerely worried!

No you did not commit blasphemy of the Holy Spirit for when we all were once non-believers we did and said things out of ignorance. But now after being saved and accepting Him as our Lord and Savior this is where what you say and do will be what you will have to answer for.

If you continue in the faith and repent and confess your sins the Lord will continue to forgive you and present you spotless before God.

I do not follow the standard of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit being simply unbelief as has been widely taught, because if that be the case then nobody would be forgiven because we were all once in unbelief. From what I have seen from scripture is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is after one professes Jesus as their Lord, they then from there deny the power of the Spirit working in and through them and continue to live their own way.

You are washed in the blood of Christ and are a child of God by the Spirit of Adoption. All is well, be at peace. You cannot commit blasphemy against the Holy Spirit as a believer, its impossible. The blasphemy is to deny His drawing you to Jesus Christ, to deny Christ continually. Its to deny Jesus. You believe in Jesus, right? Relax then, you are in perfect standing with the Lord.

That's why He died...for our sins.

You said you hear from the Holy Spirit, and He gives you verses. You ask a question and find the verse next time you read the Bible. Ask the Holy Spirit about sin confession for a believer. See where He takes you. Just a suggestion... :)
I have done that and He has answered me with verses such as 1 John 1:7-2:2, Romans 3:25, and 2 Peter 1:9 just to name a few.

Like I said I do not believe blasphemy of the Holy Spirit applies to unbelievers as the Spirit has lead me to this in the word, and this is because the standard says it is unbelief but we were all once in unbelief before we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior. So if unbelief is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit then we are all guilty of the unforgivable sin, and thus none of us would get eternal life.

Second unbelievers do not have the Holy Spirit in them in order for them to deny the power working in them, the gifts, the fruits, and can not grieve Him by continuing to sin or committing a sin.

The scriptures say you can say anything against Jesus (Son of man), but if you say anything against or deny the Holy Spirit then you will not be forgiven.

Matthew 12:32
And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

I am sincerely worried!

The LORD said that blasphemy against the HOLY SPIRIT would not be forgiven.
But Paul said he was forgiven because he did it in ignorance.

So this tells me that if you blaspheme in ignorance blasphemy will be forgiven.
+++++++++
Matthew 12:31
king James version(KJV)

31.)Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
++++++++++
1st Timothy 1:11-13
king James version(KJV)

11.)
According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

12.)And I thank Christ Jesus for our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;

13.)Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy because I did [it] ignorantly in unbelief.
+++++++++

IMO when you blaspheme the HOLY SPIRIT it is because you are not feeling any conviction even though you know what you are doing.

When someone blasphemes the HOLY SPIRIT and don't care they will be held accountable, but you seem to still be under conviction so I would say you did it in ignorance and would be forgiven.

Where does Apostle Paul say he committed blasphemy of the Holy Spirit ???

In 1 Timothy 1:11-13 the blasphemy that Paul is speaking of is not of the Holy Spirit, he is speaking of the blasphemy against Jesus and His disciples.

Its impossible to blasphem the Holy Spirit for most Christians. As most Christ are saved and not walking in the Spirit. First you have to have been filled with the Holy Spirit, and I mean Spirit filled and walking like Christ and operating in the gifts all of them. Then you have to reject the Holy Spirit and deny Him. Thats how you offend the Holy Spirit nothing less.

The passage against blaspheming the Holy Spirit in Matthew 12 says that speaking against the Son of Man can be forgiven.

Huh? No he didn't. Paul did not say that He blasphemed the Holy Spirit. Paul may have blasphemed the church. He might even have blasphemed Christ. But in Matthew 12, we see that speaking a word against the Son of Man is forgivable, but whoever speaks a word against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven in this age or in the age to come.

Paul committed some kind of forgivable blasphemy. He didn't commit unforgivable blasphemy.

The opponents of Christ who accused Him of having an unclean spirit were in ignorance and unbelief weren't they?

IMO when you blaspheme the HOLY SPIRIT it is because you are not feeling any conviction even though you know what you are doing.
Based on what? That's not what the word 'blaspheme' means.

Maybe it was the WAY I said it was the reason you are the second person to say something I never said.

I even gave scripture and you still bore false witness.

I said Paul blasphemed.I didn't say he blasphemed the HOLY SPIRIT.
Reread my post and maybe you will see where you put words in my mouth.

Also I said IMO when you blasphemy the HOLY SPIRIT<------ it is because you are not convicted.

I never said that was what blasphemy means because I know it means giving credit to the devil credit that should go to GOD.

you're saved OP, no doubt about it. And the Lord WILL keep you. It is by HIS strength, not yours or anything you do or said in the past.

You cannot commit the unforgivable sin if you are saved. Don't you ever worry another minute about that, BROTHER!

Well the way you worded it sounded like you were saying Paul said he committed blasphemy of the Holy Spirit out of ignorance, and that is why I asked when did Paul say this. But if that is not what you were implying sorry !!!

Sometimes we go down a wrong path for a reason and surely the path you went on was only so you could truly believe in him with all your heart. You are now in complete faith in him Amen :) indeed the Old Path was washed away the moment you turned

After reading it again I can see that it does sound that way.I should not have used the word but.
I should have said"Paul was forgiven because he blasphemed in ignorance".

Do you know that it is rude to accuse people of lying when you have no evidence. Go back and look at my message. I didn't say you said anything except to quote you. Then I followed with my own comments.

If you accuse me of bearing false witness falsely, aren't you doing the same? I'll be honest here. I almost never get angry at discussions like this. But the slander in your last post made me a bit angry.

Look at what you wrote,
The LORD said that blasphemy against the HOLY SPIRIT would not be forgiven.
But Paul said he was forgiven because he did it in ignorance.
Most people are going to take 'it' in the second sentence to refer back to 'blasphemy against the HOLY SPIRIT' in the previous sentence. That's just the way the English language works. You shouldn't blame me or accuse me for the way you put your sentences together. You have no basis at all to accuse me of bearing false witness for quoting that and then leaving my own comments on the topic.

Also I said IMO when you blasphemy the HOLY SPIRIT<------ it is because you are not convicted.
I don't see where you can get these kind of ideas from the Bible. The Bible says the Spirit will convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. It doesn't say He doesn't convict some, and that they blaspheme the Holy Spirit.

I worded my statements wrong and you misunderstood me.

I don't want to debate it if it's going to devolve into an argument.

You have nothing to worry about. Frankly, if you are worried about it, you almost certainly didn't commit the sin. Jesus tells us that *all* who believe on Christ and come to Him will be saved. It also tells us that those who blaspheme the Holy Ghost cannot be saved. That means that no one who blasphemes the Holy Ghost will come to Jesus and believe on Him. This is why Paul says that it is "impossible" for those who have committed this to be renewed "again unto repentance" (Hebrews 6:4-6). The fact that you came to Jesus and that you believe on Him today means that you have not committed this sin. If you repent of your sins, you haven't committed the unpardonable one.

That said, praise God that He is merciful enough to forgive you despite your sins -- even blasphemy against Christ.
