Atheism

The belief that there was nothing and then nothing magically exploded for no reason, creating everything and then a bunch of everything magically rearranged itself for no reason whatsoever into self-replicating bits. Then for no reason at all these bits became alive and then turned into all other living things and kept on changing into more and more living things, all for no reason.

Make any sense to you?

i do not hate atheists but it comes close
this is my healthy expression of controlled anger in a safe environment. absolutly do not care if any of you ( atheists only ) are offeneded in the slightest bit.
im sick of you. i dont know why you exist but i figure theres a reason....i hope. i know you want proof.....but to all of you. i am never the person to ask/wine/badger about your needs , wants, desires anything you want/need from me will never under any circumstances be given to you from me.
ive been batterd and beaten down by atheists.
the best proof i can give you , is when/if you are all rounded up *and placed to live on a far away unnoccupied island. with baggies of seeds to grow food with. and 1 male and 1 female only of cattle so you would be capable of surviving. but i gaurantee when the seeds wouldnt grow and you enterd the first stages of true hunger. you would i guarantee result to prayer bc that would be your only hope. and then you would see.

but to me in my opinion you should still be kept on the island so you wouldnt destroy our innocent ones.*
i dont hate you.....i want you to know i have the right to be strongly against you that is not against the law. and towards you ........you are seriously the only people in existence that i would ever refuse to help. and NO i am not refusing an order from God. i help the people that will hear me. with out having to constantly be on the defensive.

i force myself to hold a teeny tiny bit of hope for you. but only because if your in fact people the way you appear you need hope. but you have no proof to show me that you are just every regular people. thats the proof i need.

well by now youve read what ive typed..... and you need to know i have every right in the world to feel this way. whether it sounds rational or not to me. this makes perfect sense within myself. i see no reason at all to seek help for these beliefs.

just needed to rant ..... let some pressure out before i exploded or somthing.

you could hate me now but also know you have no idea of anything about me*
We all have to make a conscious descion to follow Christ, every one of us. And before we do, we were atheists or agnostics too :) It's just semantics...lost is lost and we are called to love and reach out to everyone. It is so easy to interact with those we 'like' that's no challenge. Really showing the power of our own changed lives through Jesus Christ, is how we display the fruits of the Spirit in meeting all people....no matter their beliefs & lifestyle.
Remember the lost, the hurting, seekers and the convinced atheists & agnostics read these posts & we need to be true to who we call our Lord all the time. I was an agnostic, loved to 'bait' Christians, but it was through such (unpleasant) behavior, that I heard the Truth...I kept going back for more...So, do not be defeated! We are all able to have our lives miraculously transformed...through the Cross. And we need to keep defending and declaring the good news at every ' God given' oppertunity!! God Bless! <><

Considering the Big bang was not an actual explosion or the fact rearrangment would entail a set goal of achievement or the simplification of abiogenesis or the statement living things changed into more living things, I would suggest either your humour is poor or your scientific understanding is lacking. Would you like me to give you the accepted Oxford english definition of atheism or would you like to keep making things up?

It's generally accepted that man has been on this earth for about 100 thousand years

So to be a Christian you must believe the following:

For about 98,000 thousand years people had an average life expectancy of about 25. Dying through all sorts of hideous diseases, wars, still births killing their mothers, people being terrified of natural disasters and plagues. And for 98 thousand years your loving and merciful god looked on with disinterest and indifferrnce and did nothing. Then all of a sudden he realises he's had enough of this so he decides to send his son down. Not to china where people can read and investigate and spread his word quickly , no he sends his son born of a virgin to illiterate primitives in the desert to be sacrificed. He then rises from the grave.

Yeah cos that's much more plausible.

Bear in mind you only believe this because of pure chance. Pure chance you were born the time and place you were. If you were born in ancient Greece youd be harping on about how Great Zeus was.

This is a bit hypocritical to say these things about non believers considering there are hundreds of gods out there you yourself don't believe in.

I am not sure what you are ranting about. Whatever point you attempted to make was lost in all the editorial comments. No I don't follow Zeus or any other false god. No, You have no clue what god I would follow under any circumstances because you don't know me or my GOD. No, you have no clue what the outcome of random chance and accident might bring.

I have heard God speak to me. Sometimes the things He says brings healing into the lives of others and even myself. I have even seen people become miraculously healed of all sorts of diseases. So your best attempts to persuade me into bowing down before the great tin (false)god of science, knowledge and human achievement will never work. Save your breath, none of it will have any effect on me. Most atheists I simply ignore.

To be Christian, you have to be a disciple of Jesus-Christ. To be a disciple of Christ, you must know who he is. To know who is Jesus, you need to see what he said, what he did and what happens. This is as simple as that.

Then all of a sudden he realises he's had enough of this so he decides to send his son down. Not to china where people can read and investigate and spread his word quickly , no he sends his son born of a virgin to illiterate primitives in the desert to be sacrificed.
The incarnation of Jesus is definitively not a last minute decision. In fact, all the prophets announced the coming of the Messiah and his sufferings. As you can see, this clearly shows that God is in full control of the creation. When Jesus comes again, this will be a great kingdom full of justice, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

He then rises from the grave.
You are absolutely right, Jesus is raised from the grave and he is alive forever. As you see our faith rest on a solid pillar, the power of God. This is the most fundamental point.

By the way, you probably click on the wrong thread because the OP topic is not exactly what you talk about.:)

Actually 'chance' causes nothing to happen; otherwise you enter the realm of 'cause and effect', a realm that 'chance' does not exist in. Chance is only a byproduct of a statistical analysis.

I have found when trying to understand and debate other people's beliefs its useful to read the foundation of their faith and beliefs. So, I think it would be helpful for you to read the Bible. This would answer many basic questions you have regarding what Christians believe about God and free will, Gods plan for the human race, past, present and future. Until you understand ( not necessarily believe) the arguments you are trying to make are not taken that seriously. The other point is that Christians believe in God, an almighty, creator God. At this time you do not....which makes for a division, in more ways than one:) in this post you have many questions and assumed theories as fact. Much as man may believe in the theory of evolution, big bang theory, geological dating theories etc etc....they remain theories. It matter not how many or how learned those believers are....they are still theories :) A Christians faith does not come from them...it is a supernatural force, from a supernatural God. A God who reveals His Truth to those who trust in Him, a God who is alive and real today. What makes me so grateful reading your post is that you are just where I was, many of us were. Our God is a God of hope. I would never have thought I would believe in God! But for 13 years I have. It's foolishness to you right now, we are deluded, we are quite simply...fools. :) If you seriously want answers to your questions, read the Bible thoughtfully. The Truth you seek is available to all and is freely given. God Bless you. <><

How can you be angry with someone that might end up spending an eternity in hell ? I feel sorry for them.

We're all destined for Hell, it's only God's saving grace that saves us. Nothing we do on our own. I didn't make up the Law, God did. Go complain to him about it.

Interesting that you still come into a Christian forum, post statements and questions you know full well will offend, and that you already have your answers for. Interesting way to spend your free time? The things of God are only horrific to you because you do not understand them. To understand them, you just need to ask God to reveal the Truth to you, and He will. I find the thought of a world with no justice, a world where evil could go unpunished, much more distressing. Gods ways are not our ways. Thank God!! :) <><

Hattie, Hell is horrific no matter which way you slice it. That said, understanding God's Law and Grace goes a long way to realising that we're headed there by default and that there is hope, a way out.
