Forgiveness...What does it mean? I see all kinds of threads about all kinds of things being wrong, sinful, un-godly. So...my question is this....." If you seek forgiveness with a truley repentative heart, love God with all your heart, mind and soul, strive with all your being to be the very best you can for him, live for him.....are your sins past, present, forgiven...or just certain ones"? Now keep in mind....UNLESS IM 100% wrong, and Ive been known to be...say you commit a sin, and didnt really understand it was spiritually wrong, until you accepted God etc....still forgiven, or held accountable? Im bein serious here....please share your thoughts.

I believe that forgiveness is a two way street. There is more to forgiveness than just asking someone to forgive you of your own wrong doing and then going about your own merry way. In my opinion, that line of thinking is both a self centered, self serving and unbiblical. Unfortunately, this is line of thinking appears to be predominant in most churches that I know of.

I believe that the bible, namely Jesus, teaches that forgiveness is a complete change of heart and mind where not only are we willing to repent of our own wrong doings but we are also willing to forgive others of their transgressions against us. I could give numerous scripture references to support this perspective of forgiveness however, I'm short on time.

To sum things up, if you only seek forgiveness for your own transgressions but are unwilling to forgive others, then it is evidence that you're still holding on to iniquity in your heart thus you truly aren't as repentant as you might think you are.

Forgiveness is the embodiment of Godly love:

1 Corinthians 13: 3-5 (NIV) " If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs."

Forgivness places all under Gods care and judgement, seals it in Jesus.
To not forgive, leaves all still under condemnation, saten.
I prefer putting all unto God in Jesus. :)

Forgiveness deals with how you treat a person. When you forgive a person, you don't treat that person as if they’ve done something wrong.
