Matthew 5:44: "But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you"
Matthew 6:14-16: "For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins"
(In other words - love your enemies, forgive them when they hurt you)
Romans 12:17-21: "...If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head"
Matthew 6:12: " And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors"
(forgive us our sins, as we forgive our enemies)
Colossians 3:13: "bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do"
God gave me a vision a week ago. I was sleeping. The vision was of my father in law screaming out to God for help. It looked as if he was in hell and was vulnerable, pleading, and crying out for God to help him. He was completely different to how I see him in the world, as he's always so strong and controlling. But, the vision really made me think and it made me feel really sorry for him. I think God was trying to tell me to see him as someone who didn't have God in his life, that without God he is helpless. So I should not worry about him, because God is in control and not my father in law. He's done a lot of things to upset me and interfere in my relationship with my husband. But ultimately the vision made me step away and see him in a different light. Now I feel sorry for him. Incredible that God would give me this vision.
In 2009 I was held at gunpoint while I pulled over in my car to take a phone call. It was night time, in LA, and I was on a deserted side street, so not the ideal place or time. I was fortunate that a security guard came driving down that street at the right time and the 2 guys fled. It probably would've been a lot worse. They were caught a few days later and now are serving time for multiple robberies and kidnapping, at gunpoint.
I was in shock for a few days but I actually felt sorry for them for what they had done. As Jesus said on the cross: "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do" (Luke 23:34).
I plan on writing to both inmates this week and forgiving them for what they did to me, also sending them a bible, to help them find God.
Is there someone you don't like? Someone you haven't spoken to in a while? Pick up the phone and call that person! God wants you to!
