so can someone tell me what paul really meant by that women cant speak in church????????? it would make no sense if its 100% quiet because how can you prophecy pray and sing in church????????? doesnt sound normal anymore.
This was in regards to women teaching and taking that position of authority in the church where it should only belong to the men in doling out the word of God.
Praying would be in silence with the man leading the congregation in prayer or just a time for silence in prayer.
Whenever a woman prays, she has to have her head covered BUT when the men pray.. to have their head uncovered. When the women are in the mission field, they are to have their head covered when they prophesy. It does not say that in particularly about prophesying in the mission field in 1 Corinthians 11th chapter but since Paul is limiting women to not teach in church but learn in silence in that same epistle in chapter 14, then Paul is talking about outside the church when a woman prophesy that she should have her head covered when she does this. ( This I just learned today )
Singing? I do not believe that would be contrary to being seen as usurping the authority position of men to teach His words in church, and since it is all in unison as reading or reciting a hymn, I do not see that as opposing what Paul has said as a commandment from the Lord.
However... having a solo act in church for a woman in singing ........... I believe Paul would have a problem with that.
It does make me wonder if in ministry outreach.. may hap the woman's head should be covered. Should we be looking at the appealing women in singing His words or be listening to His words as sang by a christian woman with her head covered? It does make me wonder if that would not prevent the foot of pride in christian entertainers in the music business.
And flip side to that.. christian men should have their head uncovered when singing His words in a solo act too. I do not think that many men sing His words with hats on, but I would believe Paul would make that distinction as well.
But it does go to show how far apart we are from the early church of the New Testament.
maybe he meant that some women were disruptive in church of corinth talking about worldly stuff?????? and that they shouldnt be pastors??? iono
Then take everything in scripture on the context of that topic, because Paul is not addressing women speaking of worldly stuff.
1 Timothy 2:[SUP]11[/SUP]
Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.[SUP] 12 [/SUP]But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.[SUP]13 [/SUP]For Adam was first formed, then Eve.[SUP]14 [/SUP]And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
You cannot assume Paul saying that in verses 11-12 prior to addressing women talking about worldly stuff as you wondered in verse 13. Paul is saying women are to be in silence BECAUSE Adam was formed first and then Eve.. and Eve was deceived which led to Adam's doubting God's words which he had heard directly from Him that led to his fall.
Then we see it again as to why... as saith the law as referred to by Paul.

Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.[SUP]35 [/SUP]And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home:

Paul said it. What law?
Genesis 3:[SUP]16 [/SUP]Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and
he shall rule over thee.
I would say this particular law is about everything.....not just in marriage.
1 Corinthians 11:3But I would have you know, that
the head of every man is Christ; and
the head of the woman is the man; and
the head of Christ is God.
Ephesians 4:15
But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

If you still have trouble with it, ask the Lord Jesus Christ for help to explain what Paul was talking about then for he referred to the silence and subjection as of the law and as a commandment from the Lord. I am not the one saying it. Paul said it.... the scriptures says it.. therefore God has said it.
