dear, why you say rest is not rest? can you say red is not red? look odd dear.
Hello Jackson,

Let's Look at REST

Now let's compare Matthew 11:28-30 with Hebrews 4.....

Mattehew 11
28,
Come to me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29, Take my yoke on you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest to your souls.
30, For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

STRONGS GREEK REST meaning; G373 ἀναπαύω anapauo (a-na-pav'-ō) v.
1. (reflexively) to repose, to rest.
2. (literally or figuratively) to be exempt, to remain.
3. (by implication) to refresh.
[from G303 and G3973]
KJV: take ease, refresh, (give, take) rest
Root(s): G303, G3973

G303
ἀνά ana (a-na') prep.
1. (properly) up.
2. (by extension, used distributively) amidst or severally, etc.
3. (by implication, as a prefix) (it often means) repetition (again), intensity, reversal, etc.
4. apiece.
5. (of combined motion) back.
6. (with G3319) through (the midst).

G3973 παύω pauo (pav'-ō) v.
to stop, i.e. restrain, quit, desist, come to an end.
{transitively or intransitively}
[a primary verb (“pause”)]
KJV: cease, leave, refrain

....................

Now compare this GREEK word used here to the one used in Hebrews 4:9...

Hebrews 4
9, There remains a SABBATH REST to the people of God.

The GREEk Word used here is different.

STRONGS GREEK/HEBERW REST meaning of Hebrews 4:9;
G4520 σαββατισμός sabbatismos (sab-ba-tiz-mos') n.
1. a “sabbatism.”
2. (figuratively) the repose of Christianity (as a type of heaven).

[from a derivative of G4521] σάββατον sabbaton (saɓ'-ɓa-ton) n.
1. the Sabbath (i.e. Shabbath).
2. a day of weekly repose from secular avocations.
3. the observance or institution itself.
4. (by extension) a week, i.e. the interval between two Sabbaths.
5. likewise the plural in all the above applications.

[of Hebrew origin (H7676)]
שַׁבָּת shabbath (shab-bawth') n-e.
1. intermission, a period of temporary rest.
2. (specifically) the Sabbath, the seventh day being the day of rest.

[intensive from H7673]
H7673 שָׁבַת shabath (shaw-ɓath') v.
to repose, i.e. to cease from exertion.
{used in many implied relations (causative, figurative or specific)}
[a primitive root] KJV: (cause to, let, make to) cease, celebrate, cause (make) to fail, keep sabbath, suffer to be lacking, leave, put away (down), (make to) rest, rid, still, take away.

....................

As you can see from the differentGREEK words used in Matthew 11:28 and Hebrews 4:9 both words are indeed different and have a different application.

Both are similar referring to rest but the word REST in Hebrews 4:9 in is reference "Sabbatismos" which is the "REST"specifically found in God's Sabbath the 4th Commandment that refers right back the Hebrew WORD used for rest in Genesis 2.

Let's look at the origin of the Sabbath and God's 4th Commandment...

Genesis 2
1,
Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2, And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3, And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

[intensive from H7673]
H7673 שָׁבַת shabath (shaw-ɓath') v.
to repose, i.e. to cease from exertion.
{used in many implied relations (causative, figurative or specific)}
[a primitive root] KJV: (cause to, let, make to) cease, celebrate, cause (make) to fail, keep sabbath, suffer to be lacking, leave, put away (down), (make to) rest, rid, still, take away.

The above HEBREW meaning is the base root of Sabbatismos from the GREEK word used in Hebrews 4:9 which is referring right back to the origin of God's Sabbath in Genesis 2 and God's 4th Commandment in Exodus 20:8-11.

The meraning here is the REST that comes specifically from BELIEVING and OBEYING Gods WORD' from God's 4th Commandment Sabbath. This is the SABBATH rest according to the commandment.

......................

You have no peace because you do not BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD. We ONLY have rest in Christ if we BELIEVE and FOLLOW Jesus. Those who are still in their SINS do not KNOW God and are like the troubled see that have no peace.

Isaiah 57
20,
But the wicked (SINNERS) are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.
21, There is no peace, said my God, to the wicked.

1 John 2
3,
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4, He that said, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Those who CONTINUE in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN have no REST and will NOT enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.

.......................

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has led many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's 4th Commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to KEEP Sunday as a Holy day.

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

In times of ignorance God winks at but now ,<when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come> calls all men everywhere to REPENT (FOLLOW) (Acts 17:30-31).

dear, why you say rest is not rest?

can you say red is not red?

look odd dear.
Possibly your english made you misunderstand my point as I didnt really fully explain it, I thought you wold get my point.

All rest is not the same.

resting on the couch is not the rest Yahshua offers, resting in a chair is not the same rest Yahshua offers.

All rest is not the same.

The rest Yahshua offers is entered into when He returns, and not even possible now, none of us have entered that rest yet.

Matt 11:27-30, "All things have been delivered to Me by My Father. And no one fully knows the Son except the Father, neither does anyone fully know the Father, except the Son and those whom YHWH wills the Son to reveal. Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light"

because it is still future:

2 Thessalonians 1:5-10, “Clear evidence of the righteous judgment of יהוה, in order for you to be counted worthy of the reign of יהוה, for which you also suffer, since יהוה shall rightly repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to give you who are afflicted rest with us when the Master יהושע is revealed from heaven with His mighty messengers, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know יהוה, and on those who do not obey the Good News of our Master יהושע Messiah, who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Master and from the esteem of His strength, when He comes to be esteemed in His set-apart ones and to be admired among all those who believe in that Day, because our witness to you was believed.”

Revelation 14:13, "And I heard a voice from heaven saying to me: Write: Blessed are the dead, the ones dying in the Messiah from now on! Yes, says the Spirit: because they will rest from their labors, and their works do follow them!"

He will not get your point because he does not want to. I have been trying to help him for a long time now originally thinking it was a language barrier. I have been shown not it is not a language barrier it is unbelief.

Hello dear, sin is sin. All SIN starts in the mind this includes the 4th Commandment which is one of the 10.

SIN is the transgression or breakin gof God's Commandments (Romans 7:7; James 2:8-12; 1 John 3:4). Those who practice SIN never have any rest.

Isaiah 57
20,
But the wicked (SINNERS) are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest (SIN = NO REST), whose waters cast up mire and dirt.
21, There is no peace (REST), said my God, to the wicked (SINNERS).

Those who CONTINUE in UNREPENTANT SIN have no REST and will NOT enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.

yep, dear

sin is sin.

In OT if one commit adultery he must be stone to death.

It mean physical adultery. If you commit adultery in your mind, you not be stoned to death.

NT, when you lust to women not your wife, it is adultery.

same with rest. Physically rest may false rest. Jesus give real rest.

Good luck dear trying to tell God on judgement day that you broke his 4th commandment when others have tried to warn you through God's Word that SIN will keep you out of God's KINGDOM.

What you post here does not make any sense at all. If you obey God's Commandments from your heart/mind then how can you not obey them physically?

If you obey God's commandments from your heart through LOVE from your mind you will not brake God's commandments physically.

Maybe you need to think about what you post before posting dear. What you are saying does not make any sense.

Those who CONTINUE in UNREPENTANT SIN have no REST and will NOT enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.

Rest that Jesus over is the best, every day, it fulfill OT sabbath

like animal sacrifice, not observe anymore, because have been fulfill.

It was an act of war commanded by God. God commanded against murder not against war and certainly NOT against a war commanded by Him. It was the fulfillment of Noah's God inspired curse on Canaan.
Do you think Jesus, the Word would command physical war and the murder of others? Spiritual warfare yes, but the killing of others, based on the commandments of Jesus who said not even to insult people by calling them a fool, Racca?

Remember Father and Son are One, they speak as One, neither must we forget who Jesus said was the Father of the Jews. If the Jews had loved the Father, they would have loved Jesus, but they did not. And as I said God could easily have destroyed the Canaanites the same as he destroyed others, vengeance, God said is mine.

There is a contradiction here that needs resolving, remember the, "LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves: They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people" (Exo 32:7-9 KJV)

There is a lot to be resolved.

I did NOT like the content or agree with it; and I said so. I liked the fact that he cited what should have been a reliable source and gave proper credit. Too many people cut and paste without citing sources!
Assuming the letter w is in error? it does not mitigate what was said about YHWH.

you are clueless.

Mat 5:22, “But I say to you that whoever is wroth with his brother without a cause shall be liable to judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raka!’ shall be liable to the Sanhedrin. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be liable to fire of GĕHinnom."

brother is not people seeking to murder you.

Rest that Jesus over is the best, every day, it fulfill OT sabbath like animal sacrifice, not observe anymore, because have been fulfill.
Isaiah 57
20,
But the wicked (SINNERS) are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.

Unfortunatelly every body is sin and lack of the glory of God

come to Jesus, He give you rest right away. Say you come on Monday, you do not need to wait till Saturday. He give you good quality of rest every day.

No dear, that is not what Gods word says. You will have no rest if you are breaking God's Commandments.

you are clueless.

So if you call someone a "fool" you will be liable to go to Hell. That is from Jesus. So Jesus is saying do Not to kill anyone and don't even think about calling anyone a fool.

And that is the message from the Father. That is NOT the Father of the Jews. Their God is just the opposite.

Mounce writes in His concise Greek English dictionary in regards to the word rest in verse 9:
G4520
σαββατισμός sabbatismos 1x
properly a keeping of a sabbath;

"Remaineth" in the KJV in the Greek is define as follows by Mounce :
G620
ἀπολείπω apoleipō 7x
to leave, leave behind;

It is in the presence tense. The rendering of the Greek to English looks something like this, "therefore is being left a Sabbath keeping to the people of GOD"
So What is the Sabbath keeping?

GOD tells us in verse 10, "For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his."

"As" is direct Comparison. So it is A Ceasing from work like GOD did from HIS.
It is the calling to those who entered in their rest (the Gospel rest in Jesus in GOD) to cease from their work AS GOD did. GOD ceased from HIS work on the Seventh Day. So we in harmony with Christ and the FATHER cease from our work on the Seventh Day which is the Day HE hallowed and blessed.

So How do we keep the Sabbath? We cease from Work as GOD did from HIS on the Seventh Day which is the Sabbath.
That is what GOD did and that is what those who receive the Gospel are called to do. And now because of Christ's reconciliation through the Gospel we now rest from our physically labors on the Sabbath acceptably. Our presence is not offense as was before due to unbelief (obstinate stiff neck rebellion)

For the Day is a Hallowed and blessed. GOD had made it so and so it will be through out eternity.

And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
(Isa 66:23 KJV)

Psalm 110:1, "יהוה said to my Master, “Sit at My right hand, Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.”"2, "יהוה sends Your mighty sceptre out of Tsiyon. Rule in the midst of Your enemies!"3, "Your people volunteer in the day of Your might, In the splendours of set-apartness! From the womb, from the morning, You have the dew of Your youth!"4, "יהוה has sworn and does not relent, “You are a priest forever According to the order of Malkitseḏeq.”"5, "יהוה at Your right hand Shall smite sovereigns in the day of His wrath."6, "He judges among the nations, He shall fill the nations with dead bodies, He shall crush the Head over the mighty earth!"7, "He drinks of the stream by the wayside, Therefore He does lift up the head!"
That is prophetic. It is about the end times and notice it is GOD who does it, not man.

Yes Really. The Word for Sabbath is plural in that text. Verse 16 starts with the word therefore. Which keeps it in context to verse 14

Having blotted out the handwriting to the ordinances that is against us, that was contrary to us, and he hath taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

It is the Sabbaths that were of the handwriting to the ordinances. The ordinances are the Decalogue and those Laws contained in the Book of the Law that showed us what righteousness is. The handwriting to them that were against us, were those laws pertaining to when we sinned not those laws that showed us what righteousness is.

So What is the Sabbath keeping?

GOD tells us in verse 10, "For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his."
"Ceased from his own works," i.e. dead, eternal rest, and that rest is in Jesus who also ceased from his own works on earth when he died on the cross to reign for evermore, and we shall be united with Him and will enter into His rest.
