Paul understood this well......it is a fearful thing he said to fall into the hands of the living God...he goes on to say knowing this we persuade men......

Many think God is all ooey gooey and nothing but LOVE....he is also the GOD of judgment and will sweep the planet with the besom of destruction, and as the bible states, an all consuming fire goes before him and a smoldering remnant of ruin follows....

I look forward to the day when GOD silences all of the false teaching that leads men to hell and judges the nations in righteousness......

There's definitely an imbalance in the message today from most pulpits where the love of God overshadows His Justice and coming Judgment.

I agree and it is an injustice to God and his word to focus on one aspect of God while disregarding the judgment aspect of GOD......as a matter of fact besides creation, his first act was to JUDGE ADAM, EVE and the Serpent........and then establish the guilt of man by the law which included punitive judgment for every gambit of SIN.......and then ALL through the O.T. h decimated nations, people, and even the entire world due to violence and sin.....and then tells us that the world that then was perished in the flood and NOW the world that is, is RESERVED unto FIRE that GOD my JUDGED the UNGODLY men and ALL of their UNGODLY deeds.........

YES GOD loves, delights in mercy and pours grace upon men, but at the end of the day, HE IS the GOD of judgment and he rises SOON to make quick work of this planet and will burn it all in his fiery indignation......

Imagine this....the LAMB will be angered but a little.....IMAGINE if he was really peeved off......

Paul understood it well because he himself fell into the hands of God. How many can say this?

Yes that touches on the syrupy way the Gospel is often presented...along these lines..."God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life"...offering no opportunity for one to 'feel' their sin or depravity.

Goodness. You make it sound like God cannot reach sinners through love. I know He does :) And if it was through His love I came to know Him, is it not given to me to share that love with others... as I understand it?

It's both. Hopefully, you were also convicted of your sinfulness, otherwise, 'why need a Savior?'

He imparted to me knowledge of His absolute understanding of how I had become the person I was... everything that had contributed to my sense of failure, my brokenness, my shortcomings, guilt and shame... yes, those things that are considered sin in His eyes... while filling me, every fiber of my being, with His unconditional love and absolute forgiveness offered through the shed righteous blood of His Son on the cross. Why need a Savior? To escape the penalty/consequence of sin, which is death, for He took that upon Himself, that those who believe on Him may attain to life ever after, a life more abundant, as Jesus promises :)

YEP and PERFECT LOVE (matured LOVE) is a process of GROWTH and maturity which COMES with years of SPIRITUAL GROWTH <----this is entirely based upon the amount and level of teaching one gets and incorporates.... ;)

So it seems you are in agreement with the fact that love is the greater, the motivator... and not fear. Do we spread fear because He first loved us, died for us while we were yet sinners? Um, no :giggle: In fact there are a plethora of verses telling us not to fear :)

We are to preach the whole council of GOD including the fact that we are to fear......

JESUS was clear.....do not fear MEN that can kill the body, but rather FEAR him who can kill and cast into hell <----who was he speaking to when he said this?

Who was Paul speaking to when he said it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the LIVING GOD?

What does the angel proclaim when he flies through the midst of heaven proclaiming the everlasting GOSPEL <---FEAR GOD and worship him that made the heavens, earth, sea and all therein

BALANCE.......we proclaim the WHOLE council of GOD, not just the LOVE of GOD :)

Sum 365 verses, “do not be afraid” one for each day of the year, possibly a example to live each day fearless.

Fear and do not fear are both given. Choose this day which you will serve, love or fear. Because perfect love casts out fear. Do you fear being condemned by God and tossed into the burning lake of fire? No, you do not. And in fact, you would not tell other believers to fear that either.

Magenta....You conflated JOSHUA into a context not given.....BOTH are valid, both are to be taught, both are applicable and it is erroneous to say what you said....come on, you know better than that.......

One can reverence the LORD in fear and still serve out of love.........
