Greek scholars don't all agree with each other. There are Greek scholars that believe that speaking in tongues is not for today and there are Greek scholars that believe it is for today.

Here's the fun part : Each one uses "their knowledge" of Greek to prove their own beliefs and to show the "heresies" of the other ones that have a different view. Selah...

It's a rarity that they disagree.

This can be true for many views on various subjects in scripture. Who Christ is and what He has done by His blood by grace through faith - will always be the cornerstone of truth.

Knowing the Greek after our human reasoning does not necessarily mean that we have the Holy Spirit revealing the truth of Christ behind it. Without Him - we are just giving our "opinions" and they could be or not be true - or most likely have an aspect of the truth. Christ Himself is always "the Truth".

In saying that - I personally love to investigate the Greek and have many sources I use but without the Holy Spirit - they are mans opinions too. I encourage all people to utilize what is available to them as there are many great resources the Lord has provided.

And if you see some so-called "Greek scholar" try to "lord it over your faith" and de-mean you and insult you - stay away from this type of behavior.
But..... as you know, some people would do anything to get every commentary, dictionary, & lexicon belittled & thrown out so that they could push their uneducated & untrained false teacher to the top of the authority ladder.

The Bible says from the mouths of 2 or 3 witnesses let every word be established.

Deuteronomy 19:15
New American Standard Bible
"A single witness shall not rise up against a man on account of any iniquity or any sin which he has committed; on the evidence of two or three witnesses a matter shall be confirmed.

Matthew 18:16
New American Standard Bible
"But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that BY THE MOUTH OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES EVERY FACT MAY BE CONFIRMED.

2 Corinthians 13:1
New American Standard Bible
This is the third time I am coming to you. EVERY FACT IS TO BE CONFIRMED BY THE TESTIMONY OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES.

To keep the malice down to a minimum - I'll post what I have posted many times in the past.

Commentaries.

I personally love to read from commentaries and have about 1/2 dozen or so that I regularly view on some subject. There is an inherent problem with going by commentaries to determine truth - they can be giving out what their denomination has taught them in the past and so we "could be" in another church tradition type of situation be perpetuated.

Commentaries are basically what the author himself thinks about a passage or certain doctrine which is absolutely fine. I find that I get a part from one and a part from a different commentary and the Spirit of God uses them all in some aspect to reveal what He is speaking to me about.

The other one is Greek/Hebrew dictionaries. I find that they too can "sometimes add" their comments to what the actual meaning of the Greek words are which may or may not be entirely true. They "add" their "application" of the meaning of the words - which is fine. But I believe we need to be aware of such things too.

I absolutely love to read the meanings of words in the Greek/Hebrew dictionaries and glean many things that have helped me to grow in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Personally I believe all Christians should be reading the original words as technology has been made available the tools needed to do this - and you don't need to go to seminary to do this elementary study. If you don't use these tools you are "in serious error" ( just kidding - using the play on the term being in error...:) )

In my opinion - Without the revelation of the Holy Spirit revealing the things of God to us - we can easily create our own religion that displaces the work of Christ in our lives and thus nullify the grace of God that is available for us for life and living.

Since Hyp******ers don't believe in conviction after conversion, both of sin & righteousness, neither in repentance after conversion, how exactly does the Holy Spirit even speak to them?

Yeah. Honestly? You are an English scholar. You have studied it sufficiently to sound like an English speaker, so, yeah... you are!

(Sometimes you don't give yourself enough credit. You're a polyglot, for Pete's sake. THAT is scholarly levels. It's not like any ole fool can do it, and I say that as an ole fool who cannot do that.)
You are too kind to me. I am very well aware that I mess with "the, a" articles, I know that my tenses are frequently wrong and I also know that I use wrong vocabulary sometimes. I do not even know how to use all tenses in English correctly, how are they all called etc.

If you would know how many times I must edit my posts after I posted them to correct the most obvious errors!

But I can understand English and have a basic communication in it. How? Because I use it, I read in it, I watch movies/TV series in it etc. Like a child when learning the native language.

So I think that if somebody wants to just read and understand the Greek New Testament, its enough to learn some basic rules in the beginning and then just read and read and read. Will he become a Greek Scholar? I do not think so. Will it be a problem in understanding the text? I do not think so :) He/she will learn the language from its use in various contexts.
