Guardian angels

so i learned that everyone has the ability to contact their guardian angels and that we were given one at birth. But they cannot contact us very much unless we openly invite them into our lives. so i asked my angel to come into my life and i asked him what his name was and the name Gabriel popped into my head so thats what i am calling him. i read about signs when your angel is near and i realized i had had many times when apparently my angel was there. Like for instance as i was asking my angel things i felt a tingling feeling on my cheek and in my head i somehow knew Gabriel was putting his hand on my face. I also remember times when i can be laying in my bed with no one around and i can feel someone sit on my bed but no one was there. I am sure of it now that was Gabriel. another sign is when for no apparent reason we are overcome with love, this happened to me when i was watching how to train your dragon. The movie had nothing to do with god but i was consumed with god's love and i started crying. I hope i can meet Gabriel soon, angels don't often make physical appearances but it is not unheard of. has anyone else any thing to say about how to contact angels or really any info on our guardian angels would be fantastic

Hey buddy. I just wanna let ya know that contacting angels might not be a good idea. Pray to God, Jesus or the Holy Spirit. if you attempt to address an angel, you might have other things listening in, or posing as something they are not.

I'm totally with Forth on this one. This sounds very dangerous. In over 20 years of being a Christian i have never, ever heard of someone having to invite an angel into their life, or talking to an angel, or interacting with an angel on a regular basis. This concept is pure new age thinking, and is exactly the kind of thing they teach. This is bordering on 'spirit guides' in the new age faith.
Please show us the source of this information stating that guardian angels are real, that they are something we can contact and communicate with and that we have to invite them into our lives. Again, please show us the evidence of this concept.

I agree with ForthAngel, pray to God, Jesus or the Holy Spirit. There are angles assigned to us, but God directs them. There aren't any examples or instructions in the bible that I'm aware of that we are supposed to speak to or command our angels. When they protect us, they are mostly preventative, like it talks about in Psalm 91, so we couldn't command that. They also minister to us (Hebrews 1:14).

Blain, I wanna relate something to ya man. Not long ago, I was desperate. I tried praying, I couldn't break the chains of sin that were binding me, I was suicidal. I couldn't find help anywhere. I tried praying to whoever would listen. I prayed to any "good" angels that might be listening. I prayed to heaven has a whole. I prayed to the old prophets. Man I gotta say. Something else heard me and my answer was not a good one. Weird stuff started happening similar to what you are talking about, especially right before bed, or right as I woke up. I started becoming lucid inside of nightmares. This is bad stuff man. I did it out of ignorance, but the consequences were very real. I Just wanna look out for ya bud and I will be praying that nothing tries to harm you or else influence you in subtle ways you may not pick up on. Spirits are crafty and work, much like the angels oracle mentioned, behind the scenes. I am praying for you. Keep in the word Blain. We all know you've got a thirst for it. Keep strong in Christ.

well i don't know if i will somehow accidently call in a demon but i know angels are NOT demons. believing in god also means beleiving in angels. when i said inviting an angel into my life i may have misused my words. guardian angels are as i beleive always in our lives but i was merely asking him to work more in my life. to guide me in the right direction,i don't know how but i know god will not allow any demons to harm me. I will always worship god and seek him in his word.

This sounds like your inviting demons in your life, the perfect possession happens when you openly invite them in your life, remember demons come as an angel of light, i have experienced what your talking about, believe me, it was no angel

don't pray to the angels, they don't take their orders from you, if they do they aren't the kind you want. Pray to God and HE will tell them what to do. of course there are angles here to protect us, do you think God wouldn't have his armies here with all of the enemies army? but they take orders from the commander only.

See your first post. You asked your angel to come into your life. See the last line in the above post. "I will always worship god and seek him in his word." Sorry but you contradict. Maybe you were impatient and wanted an "experience". Well now you have it.
I have no idea how to help you. Scripture says, Repent ask for forgiveness but first make sure you have forgiven all those who have hurt you.
How to pray. Jesus gives us only one way. "Our Father, etc"
I suggest the only way to pray is to pray to our Father.
Only Jesus can expel that spirit and you need to ask our Father to have Jesus drive out that spirit. Please do not dig a deeper hole for yourself by trying other ways.

They are a humble servant just like any of us and not to be worshipped
Be Careful as even John the prophets' encounter with an angel told him this.

And as Carey mentioned can masquerade as an angel of light since the devil used to be lucifer one of heavens greatest angels

Keep in mind that angels are messengers of God. They work for HIM. Not you. Why would an angel need to guard and protect you? God does that.
You are giving way too much attention to angels and that is HIGHLY unscriptual.

Angels are servants as are we.

In Revelation chapter 22 John writes(starting in verse 8) where he bowed down to worship an angel, but the angel said "don't do it". To worship God.

wow wait i never said i was gonna worship an angel or anything, i didn't command it anything i may have asked it to guide me in the right direction but i have done this once and i don't intend to do it again because as much as i would like to meet an my guardian angel i would only open a door way for something else asking again. This time nothing changed although i feel somewhat safer somehow. Maybe because i know Jesus will protect me idk but i have seen what happens when you invoke spirits. I may speak with my guardian angel but i will not worship him, and i will always put god first. I didn't commit some sort of sin or anything, and digging deeper into this angel thing will only cause more trouble. God sent an angel to save your life?
Really? Don't you think God can do that without help of an angel?You are giving credit to an angel where we are strictly told not to do that.

I don't believe in guardian angels.
I do believe that God does use angels to assist us in whatever manner, but they are not ours.
I believe without any knowledge other that Biblical that they are there.
I believe that we are probably more likely to run into a fallen angel, as a "good" angel.

Were it not for John, Peter and Paul's run-ins with angels, there would not be much argument for them, however, I witnessed a 5 year old boy in a hospital drawing a picture of his father in a hospital bed. He drew four bats over the bed. When I asked him what they were, he told me that they were flying over his father protecting him, but he didn't know what they were. And no, the kid was not church brought up. So, if a 5 year old can see what I could not, and yeah, I recognize an angel depictions - I am guessing that they are out there, there are active and we are plain blind to them and their work in our's and other's lives.
