There might be another reason for consideration before celebrating halloween. Lets play "lets imagine". Lets imagine your are a guy and you are on the team. You have a girl friend and have given her you jacket with your number on it. [Or letter if you were a letterman.] Lets say your number 7. On the night of the big game you are out on the court warming up and you see your girl walk in so you wave to her and she waves back and as she turns to sit down you notice the jacket she is waring has a number 6 on it. The jacket looks like your but the number is not. Can you imagine how you would feel? If you are a real guy you are going to give this situation at least a little thought. If you are a real real guy you are going to be thrown into uncertainty. For the rest of the game your concentration will be broken and you will be anxious to get with your girl and ask just what is going on. You thought the two of you were a team. You ladies can probably think of a decent parallel for your perspective on the matter. Here is Christ who has lived a short, unselfish life and died an undesirable death so we could be a team and we walk out on the battlefield wearing the dress of our enemy participating in the ritual of our enemy. I am not positive but I am pretty sure He would like to get with us and find out just where our head and heart are in this matter. Loyalty and faithfulness are cornerstones to our God. If there were no other way in the universe we could have fun perhaps this would seem different. But there are an untold number of ways we can have fun and let our children have fun without poking Christ in the eye. I think we should ask ourselves if we want to were Christ's jacket or the devil's jacket. I don't actually think putting a new coat of paint on this will make it any better. Are we the LORD'S or not? Does He have the right to have confidence in us or not?

the bible says things like that a christian should not do, why even argue, if you argue with the bible you know you are calling God a liar because God composed the bible, plus in this thread someone who had experience in a coven told you what it really is and you still argue? That is not very smart

I don't celebrate halloween, and didn't allow my kids to either, after I became a Christian. The reason is because when I belonged to a coven, I was with them when they celebrated the real holiday, the way witches do, with spells and sacrifices, and they mock Christians because Christians know nothing about the real holiday. For the many who don't understand the symbolism of the candy, which is given to appease the demons, as a bribe. After I expained it to my kids, they were totally ok with not celebrating. Now, my oldest son is not letting my grandson participate inthe holiday for the same reason. I am so glad that it has carried to the next generation.

By the way, ever notice whythat its ok for schools to have halloween parties, and celebrate an obvoius religious holiday for the other side, but many schools don't allow "christmas" celebrations anymore?

Just like the easter bunny is a pagan fertillity symbol, we make a choice of what we will celebrate and how we will participate. At our house we celebrate the resurrection of Christ, not the easter bunny.

At Christmas, we don't do Santa, but we do celebrate Jesus birthday and honor our Lord as the focal point of the holiday.

This may be off topic, but another note about kids and holidays: I didn't lie to my kids and tell them that santa or the easter bunny is real, even when I wasn't a Christian. What kind of a message does that send to our kids, when we lie to them and trick them?

As Christians, we evaluate what we do, and why we do it. Is Halloween an exception?
You know that it is the Gentiles (Unsaved) that make excuses for what they do (Rom.2:14-15). You are right not to do as others do. It amazes me as to how people twist the scriptures so that they can do as they wish the scriptures to say, when it comes out the way they want it to! Pagan is pagan no matter how u make it fit the way u want.

as christians, we do need to gaurd our hearts and not associate ourselves with worldly
and fleshly things. going out and living could consist of having a few alcoholic drinks or
doing a couple of drugs or having sex, ect ect.
should we as christians be living the way of the world or in the way of the LORD?
we should be an example to others, not go out and let them be our example.

I guess i should have enlightened on my term "live" Yes i agree that some people could see living as partaking in the things that you have mentioned. The point i was getting at is that most of our traditions, holidays, etc do have a darker past to them. Christmas and easter as well have been linked to paganistic history but that does not keep us from celebrating together and having a good time with neighbors, and loved ones. I tend to think that if we celebrate in an evil way then yes we are celebrating evil, but if we celebrate our holidays with joy and loving one another and cast away the evil beliefs then we are living in the lord and are being the examples to others.
Halloween for example, instead of dressing the kids up like demons, devils, vampires, zombies, etc dressing them up as a pumpkin, ladybug, lobster, superhero, etc and not donning the house with horrific pictures but instead keeping it in good taste with bails of hay, pumpkins with smiling faces, maybe some fun lights, etc. Just my take on it and not here to change minds just wanted to elaborate on my version of " live"
Found some info on holidays and the history behind them on History.com if anyone wants to take a peak.

There is a difference between celebrating Halloween as a religious holiday and celebrating it as a cultural holiday. Celebrating it as a cultural holiday does not imply celebrating it as a religious holiday.

Halloween is not necessarily evil. It began as a Celtic Pagan belief marking the death of the earth (nature), over winter because of the capture of their sun god. It was a holiday with the belief and promise of re-birth in spring. The dark aspect of it stem from Samhain, the ruler of the dead, who they believed had captured their sun god. They dressed up as creatures of the dark to protect themselves and confuse the dead spirits.

All Saints Day is on the 1st Nov. It commemorates the great dead. 31st Oct is also known as All Hallow's Eve. The modern Halloween is a mixing of the two, hence why evil dead are celebrated.

Even Christmas has been corrupted in a similar way and the majority of customs associated with Christmas were influenced by Tutonic, Pagan, Celtic, Roman and other beliefs. Lights, feasts, delivery of presents, evergreen plants were all borrowed from older cultures. It was not until 366AD that Pope Julius set the Christian date of Christmas to the 25th December, co-inciding with Roman god Mithras' birthday (who has a lot in common with Jesus).
