We all know the story, Satan tempted Job to try and get him to curse God, and Satan tempted Jesus to get him to follow him,

So was the sin of Satan in both Job 1 and Mathew Satan playing God, and that Satan has become a deranged spirit. Would anyone see that in many doctrines that cause debate here Satan sometimes has some people playing God.

Would anyone consider the thought that with satan being defeated in Job 1 and in Mathew, in the sense that Job did not curse God and Jesus did not go against his father either, that perhaps it was Satan who was being shown the error of his ways and being revealed as the tempter, and how we can overcome him,. It just accured to me that many people who believe Satan had been given authority to test Job and Jesus, and that was what it was all about may have overlooked this consideration that the only authority that was given to Satan was to be led up by the spirit to reveal him and show him the error of his ways,

Perhaps this is also the reason why I can't see that God permits evil to test christians

No person is capable of overcoming Satan on their own accord. This isn't my opinion, but a direct quote from the Bible. It is as follows:

Colossians 2:11-15 NLT - "When you came to Christ, you were "circumcised," but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision--the cutting away of your sinful nature. For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead. You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross."

Paul begins those five passages above with verse 10, which state that because of what takes place in verses 11-15, we are "complete." We do not complete ourselves, but it is the Holy Work of Christ that makes a person "complete."

Colossians 2:10 NLT - "So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority."

And why are we "complete" in Christ? Because if Christ is in God, and there is no corruption within Him, and if we are "in" Christ, then there is no corruption to be found, for the death of Christ as the final sacrifice, and because of our belief in the Power that raised Jesus from the dead, we are made Right with God. This is what verse 9 is about . . . the verse that verses 10-15 fully explain. It reads as follows:

Colossians 2:9 NLT - "For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body."

Being made Right with God, or, overcoming the Evil One:

Romans 3:25-26 NLT - For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he declares sinners to be right in his sight when they believe in Jesus."

"Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. But I have prayed for you,
Simon, that your faith will not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”
