Ephesians 1:3-14: "....In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory"
Kings of old would attach their seal to a document or possession, in order to give it authenticity, ownership or authority.
One of many examples in the bible, to show how a seal is regarded....
Esther 8:8: "You yourselves write a decree concerning the Jews, as you please, in the king’s name, and seal it with the king’s signet ring; for whatever is written in the king’s name and sealed with the king’s signet ring no one can revoke.”
Dear Brother or Sister, have you considered the Scriptures below? The Holy Spirit is only given to those that obey God's Word and not to someone willfully practicing sin. That being said though if we are tempted and do sin we have an advocate with the Father.
"My little children, these things write I unto you,
that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous." (1John 2:1)
"And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost,
whom God hath given to them that obey him." (Acts 5:32)
"
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof." (Rom 6:12)
"Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey;
whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?" (Rom 6:16).
"
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Rom 6:23)
"And being made perfect,
he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him." (Heb 5:9)
Jesus says, "If ye love me, keep my commandments." (John 14:15)
"If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love." (John 15:10)
"And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him
." (1John 2:3-4)
"And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
"Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not:
whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him."
"Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous."
"He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil."
"Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God."
"In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother."
(1John 3:5-10)
"Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again,1 he cannot see the kingdom of God. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again." (John 3:7-8)
"For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, and have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame."
(Heb 6:4-6)
"For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. (Heb 10:26-27).
Dear friend the above experience can only be found in the Gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation from sin to everyone that believes in God's Word. You must be born again by repentance (turning away from sin) confessing your sins to Jesus and believing His Words of forgiveness and His promises.
"Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon." (Isa 55:6-7) And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. (Jer 29:13)
From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand (Matt 4:17).
