wow.... just to clear something up.. cc is not run by voting people off like some reality tv show.

Its run by a pastor who believes in the Bible and uses his God given discernment along with two other men to monitor and give people around the world a safer place to communicate and talk with other people who claim the name of Christ. (the forum part, the live chat has more moderators)

they do not pretend to know who is saved and who is not.

they monitor more for sex offenders and trolls who would take advantage of the children of God than for infighting and bickering. Also those who spam and try to get money from members or sell something.

If people get banned its more often for their behavior than for their doctrinal beliefs.

no matter what they decide every day, someone will be unhappy either the person they banned and that person's friends or the person who believes they should have been banned but were not.

I don't know why so many people expect so much from the adminstrators and moderators of a site that most don't contribute any money at all to help maintain. All the mods are volunteers and are NOT paid for their service of policing this site.

So instead of complaining I think a more people should be praying for them and thanking them when they run across one.
That is exactly the intended spirit of this thread. We who frequent this site should have our own policy when we run into heresy. We should not ask for help from administrators. No one in this thread has suggested taking a vote. My suggestions, to this point, are:
1. We should make sure that a complete thought is included in every post we respond with
2. We should respect the person and refute the idea.
Any more to add to our list? Should any of these be scratched?

In my experiance, those who call others heretics, are usually the most 'heretical' people themselves according to what that term is supposed to mean. (not referring to you in that, just responding according to my observations on internet websites)
However, I have never called anyone a heretic myself, I leave that to the h......s;)

BTW
Never heard the term used in any church I have ever been to, either by the minister or any of the congregation
I've been called many things on this site. Stupid, Unchristian, unintelligent, sadistic, satanic... all by people who say they're Christian.

We who frequent this site should have our own policy when we run into heresy.
i have a question:

Re: Heresy on Christianchat

and what is orthodox theology?
no point tinkering around about heresy until there's some agreement about orthodoxy.
without a standard, there's no heresy.
so, ya...good luck on that one i guess.

If their not preaching or teaching is not the cross the it is heresy Paul said:

1 Corinthians 2:2For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

Basically the teaching of Jesus closely followed by the disciples. (Paul for doctrinal issues particularly for Jews.)

CC has a high roof. One can split hairs if one likes...changes nothing, a spade should be called a spade; some heresy is posted here...quiet serious such to that...apart from the traditional trolling in various forms.

that may be so.
but Ariel has a point, and this is a single forum site without separation by denomination.
it has pros and cons. i'm thankful for it either way.

Drew also has a point, but with all things given, it's not possible for his idea to work, since every belief system under the sun comes through at some time or other. this has benefits also (for me).

concerning orthodoxy....ppl can post a simple profession of faith in Jesus Christ for salvation.
then two posts later post that their jesus doesn't have to be known - universalism is true - their jesus is one of two or more than two gods - Jesus The True Christ did not accomplish the salvation of His people israel since some don't believe, ad infinitum.

so though drew's idea is a good one, Ariel's point is the bottom line.
a-a-a-a-and....there we go back to - without having an orthodoxy defined beyond "believe", there's no possible way to establish what heresy is. there wouldn't be any.

the admins and mods do according to their decisions.
just as one would do on a site they owned and/or operated, or moderated (as i do).

You made a good point in that if someone comes in not reading all the thread
and sees someone hollering heretic while the heretic is acting all lovey then
the rebuker is really bolstering the heretics popularity and then the truth
spoken in response to the heretic is rejected.

So yes each post should be clear in itself completely.
I agree that highlighting the theology and not the person is better.

pray before posting, examine your heart/motives before pushing the post button.

delete if uncertain, pray, read the Bible and try again later if lead by God to respond.

remember if Jesus didn't answer every one of His accusers. sometimes its ok to remain silent and allow God to reveal His truth about the topic.

I must say that anything outside of Jesus Christ and him crucified is heresy. The whole theme of the bible is based on that. What else can be preached out side of this.

Jesus Christ and him crucified.....

and then what?
just who is Jesus?
why was He crucified?
what did that accomplish?

immediately you would see what can happen.
but this also can be beneficial as handling counterfeit can help recognize the authentic.
over time i guess.

anyways, ty tdrew.

On another site we did an experiment. We found that most people won't read much more than 2 medium paragraphs, or 10 sentences.

Something that might help us. "We are not here to fix people." We are here to share the word and truth.

When someone asks me about CC:

"So, what is this forum you talk about like? Is it good?"

Me:
