I am so humble, I lick dust, as a serpent, I must be a snake. Did Satan not come as a snake on his stomache? Is that humble or a lack of LEGS? What is lower than the serpent? The worm in his hole.... and they shall both be afraid of the LORD our GOD! Micah 7.

Funny the holier than thou are all sinners, but the right name for them is... Hypocrates. pretending to have the Holy Spirit in them. If only they knew what MASSIVE event it is when God puts His Spirit in a person. God make that person Christ-like! Not pretend Christ like! Afrikaans is o beautiful... hypocrate is ....SKYNHEILIG.... Directly translated it means PRETENDHOLY! Or pretend to shine holy! A light does not have to pretend to shine, if he shines the darknes is GONE! If the light pretend to shine there is no light - Only darkness

 BETWEEN THE TWO, WHICH ONE WOULD HAVE WISDOM. THE HOLY MIGHT BE HOLY ON THE OUTSIDE, AND NOT KNOW ANYTHING ON THE INSIDE OF THE WORD, BUT THE NAME ON THE COVER. THE CHILD MIGHT NOT KNOW HOW TO READ MUCH, BUT IS WISE FROM THE INSIDE, AS SOME ASSUME BEING HOLY IS ON THE OUTSIDE. :)

No. There's quite a few in between. I'm one of them.

It seems to me the world is populated with two groups of people, the “holier than thou” people and the humble people.

"Humillity" was and is always crucified! How many "professing" Christians do you see that truly fit this???? Be "sincere" in your response! Someone is "dying" to hear it!!

Ditto. :)

When I see her posts, I always think, "and a little child shall lead them." ♥
And she's SO wonderful, she won't even be offended at me saying that!
Because she understands we are to be like little children. :)

It also depends on how we look at others (our perspectives). Sometimes, because of our own sinful nature, we tend to have prejudice against godly people and see them as "holier than thou" even though they may be very humble in reality. Of course, I am not discounting the existence of people with "holier than thou" attitude. Just wanted to highlight the other side of the coin.

I have seen some people in my hometown and in the city I live now who would not come face to face with the most humble Evangelists/pastors as they considered their lives to be too different (or rater too deep in sin as they themselves would say). And this has nothing to do with "holier than thou" attitude of the evangelists/pastors.

Also, I have discovered over the years through personal experience that common people (both Christians and non-Christians alike) especially in countries like India tend to have high regards and respect for people with 'good morals' whether one is a Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, etc. But some people may misconstrue and see these people as having "holier than thou" attitude.

If the holiness of a church's claim is raised up to condemn all other churches which are members of Christs body except theirs it is a holiness I do not want any part of.
That holiness makes me feel bad real bad actually it is a scary holiness of man.

It would be like me saying to you that I am obviously more holy than you. I would never do that, aside from it not being true, the bible tells us not to.

Luke 14:11 For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

If I can't say it to you how could my church say it to another church???

Its just pride. That ones a biggie.
