Jesus said he would send the Comforter. So the Spirit of God comes through Him. I know we will all agree on that, so we can say we receive the understanding of the Word, by the Holy Spirit given to us through, and by the Word. The Bible is the Word of God.

John 1:1-4 (KJV)

[SUP]1 [/SUP]In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]The same was in the beginning with God.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

John 15:26 (KJV)
[SUP]26 [/SUP]But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

So that shouldn't be too hard to understand. The Spirit is given through the Word, and by the Word, not the other way around. We would never be able to receive the Spirit of God except by the Word. The Spirit doesn't teach us the Word, the Word teaches us of the Holy Spirit and is sent to us through the Word.

Peace and Joy be to all in Christ Jesus from the Precious Holy Spirit until we are brought to Jesus and our Heavenly Father.
But what if someone is still alive to self, the physical, can this get in the way of listening to the Spirit of God that came to live in the ones that believe?
So in effect the deeper one is dead to self, the deeper one will listen to God the hidden man of our new heart.
For I know I am carnal, sold under sin yes? but if I were co-crucified with Christ at the cross, dead to self, would I thus be alive in God's Spirit as meant to be, since Christ came to give us life a new one? Is this possible here and now, as it was, is with Paul?

Why Abel's offering pleased GOD more than Cains?
Please do not use other people's answer and opinion.
Please pray and read`GOD's Word on this matter in Genesis again and you who have been born of the HOLY SPIRIT will receive a simple understanding revelation. i have heard this common answer that Abel was a wise person who gave the sin offering and etc. Was this written in the Word?
'i only know this by the Help of the HOLY SPIRIT who gives us sound doctrine say; 'When the law was given, sin came to alive.'
Let us like a little child listen and pay attention to the Word of the LORD as it is authored and still reliable because the HOLY SPIRIT confirm's it.
When my FATHER gave my big brother a field to tilt and me a herd to shepherd and when the right time comes, we are to give HIS share of our harvest as it is fair and just for the world and everything in it belongs to HIM.
As both of us labor without understanding who's sacrifice is acceptable, and then both of us present them equally to the FATHER.
How can HE accept one better than the other? My brother gets an unfavorable field and i get a favorable field. Without knowledge and understanding my brother and i must labor blindly and be bullied by the FATHER that HIS decision was just fair.
This is a manner of a slave master and not my FATHER.
This has nothing to do with the Law of Moses which was given later and comes into effects then. Even if someone content, i would just say Wheat offering was also acceptable offering according to the Law of Moses practice in the Temple to please GOD.
There were no written command for Cain and Abel to do such but they did ......................................................?????
fredjames,

You are correct in stating, "There were no written commands for Cain and Abel to [give offerings of their produce unto the Lord]." Yet there is an often times unclear distinction between "works of the law" and "works of faith." Although the Law of Moses was not yet established at the time Cain and Abel gave their offerings unto the Lord, the story of Cain and Abel illustrates mankind's relationship with God. There are those who give to the Lord our of their great abundance of wealth or produce, but there are also those who give out of the abundance and produce of their hearts. Which do you think God prefers? "Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness" (Genesis 15:6, New International Version, 2011).

Isn't it clear Abel gave out of the abundance of his heart, the best of his flocks to the Lord? To the contrary, Cain did not do the same as Abel. "The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters" (Psalm 24:1-4).

You can see that everything belongs to God, and we would have nothing if not for Him [God]. So who was Cain (or us for that matter), to withhold the best produce from the Lord, to keep for himself? Didn't Cain realize that his produce already belonged to God?

Grace and Peace!

Yes Hommie
to the degree we are willing to deny old sinful nature man is the degree that we will be full of Jesus by the work of the Holy Spirit's works and ways manifesting Jesus in and through us which is His nature and power then the next step is take our cross only the Holy Spirit can reveal what and how each one is to do that, then it is opened to us to vividly see hear and taste and feel the Lord Jesus to follow Him. These are the works of the Holy Spirit it is we who have our choice from our will to follow and each brother and sister to encourage our choice to follow and obey to the end of our finish line.

This whole discussion is based on that Cain's offering was "not sin yet", that the new covenant given to us when Christ made things new someway made a new religion that destroys the old.

I think the whole basis for our reasoning is wrong. God is eternal, God is the "I AM" Christ is God, and Christ went through living as a man in our kind of time and changed how we are to know and worship Him, but Christ always was in eternal time. It was true in Cain's time that blood was needed for atonement, the only sacrifice acceptable, just as we know in 2013 that it is only Christ's blood. I think if Cain would have listened closely to God, he would have known it, but it really makes no difference if he did or not. What Cain knew or didn't know does not change how God created the world, and God created it so blood was needed for atonement. There is a link between our physical world and the spiritual one. When we break a physical law it affects the spiritual law, as sure as when we drop an object it falls for that is a physical law.

When we say we have a new covenant in Christ, we must know in our hearts what that means. It means Christ. And Christ did not come to destroy. Mat_5:17 "Don't assume that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.

John 15:26
"When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father--the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father--he will testify about me.

John 16:7
But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.

John 16:13
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

1 Corinthians 2:10
these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

Romans 8:14
For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.

The Holy Spirit is sent to us by faith, we receive Him through our faith in His Word. Hopefully , this clears things up, the Word is Holy Spirit inspired book written, just THAT , a book :) But, God is more than that, He SPEAKS to us through the holy, inspired, writings of the authors of the bible. HE REVEALS ALL TRUTH TO US . How He chooses to do that is His way for us individually, and, BY FAITH, we will LEARN ALL OF Him known in our lives. Again, if you DON'T have faith that God helped you do something miraculous and just chalk it up as a work God did on His own, but NOT EVER through you, fine, just don't tell me about it, I won't believe that faithless belief of HOW Christ works in my life , which is the same as Abraham going up that hill to kill his son, Isaac, as, DID Abraham have a bible with Him to GO BY as Abraham was walking up that hill? Nope, He had God's voice, and, God is the SAME today as yesterday as forevermore . He STILL speaks to us as He wishes, giving us gifts, sending us places, to do His WORK for His good will and pleasure. Nothing's changed, and, in fact, the more things CHANGE He still stays the SAME :)

Many want to say, "But, green, Abraham didn't have a bible to go by, it was not completed yet, abraham HAD only God's voice to go by. We have the bible, we can read it and know what we are to do regarding doing something like killing our son if we THINK we hear God's voice."

That's right, we HAVE the bible, the complete authoritative word of God !

And, God speaks to our hearts through it's work that shows us what He wants us to do in REAL LIFE :)

How green? Through FAITH in following Him, the Lord leads. The spirit of God will lead His sons and daughters, so, says Scripture , just read Romans 8:14. So, IF you can pick up on God's leading of what He wants you to do from JUST reading the bible, fabulous. Then, DO IT !!! But, MY LIFE is going to be boldly following Him, as He shows me EXACTLY which ways to go in my life, not through the bible reading I do and stopping there, but, continuing to move forth, as He moves me, leads me, by MY FAITH in Him , by the MEASURE of FAITH He gave me to use . Use it !!!! :)

Zone showed tht the Holy Spirit LEADS the children of God.... well what if a person do not FOLOW THE LEAD?

You see, my point is, if the Holy Spirit LEADS the children of God, HOW CAN THEY SIN. the Spirit will not lead them into sin or temptation, but He will lead them OUT of sin and AWAY from temptation.... God KNOWS to deliver the righteous from all temptation... GOD KNOWS the Word says...

So not only does the HOLY SPIRIT leads the Children of God, THEY FOLLOW HIM....

Good explanation! Reciprocation to the truth in sincerity is what makes things happen for the good, not by what we do, but by what God does to enable us to respond. It's a love thing.

It looks like you are missing something important.

1 Corinthians 2:10-16
[SUP]10 [/SUP]But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

Without the Holy Spirit revealing the Word to you, you can't understand. Not fully.

The Holy Spirit is given to us by the Lord Jesus Christ. This is an amazing gift. The more we abide in Christ the more He grows the Holy Spirit in our lives and our spiritual understanding grows.

I read the bible for 4 yrs over and over trying to understand it. I didn't understand it but I had faith that if I kept reading it I would eventually get it. I knew it was just a matter of time and understanding would come...

But understanding didn't come by my methods. Understanding can only come by the Holy Spirit. Which those verses above should have already told you...

I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.
and Sister that is exactly what he did fulfill, then he went to the cross and died to take away the sin of the whole world in Father's sight, so that Father could and does today see us through the Son as perfect
John 1:29 [ John Testifies About Jesus ] The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

Mat_5:17 "Don't assume that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.

John 19:30
When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

So when Christ yelled the above out, do you think he did what he said he came to do, fulfill the Law and Prophets of the first Testament about him?

So are we in a new Covenant or are we still under the Old, under the Mosaic Law?

Hebrews 9:15-17, says we are by the death at the cross in a new Covenant. Hebrews 7:11-12 states we have a new Priesthood and we are under new Laws.
So there are two sides of the cross, before and after
Before we forgive to get forgiven
After we forgive because we are forgiven
Before we love to get loved
After we love because we are loved
Before we are initiators, trying to be equal with God or better than, when in truth we are no more than a creation from God
After we are responders to God, seeing God as the initiator of all things and we are the creation worshipping the creator in Spirit and truth, which today is the only way God can be worshipped after the cross, was before the cross as well, yet by the cross this is 100% clear, for in the First Testament, God counted many righteous, by Faith (belief) in prior to Christ's finished work at the cross, yet all these that had Faith trusted in the coming Messiah Christ that has come and given us the message of redemption.

and being in unredeemed flesh is why we today are at war, needing to see to be dead to flesh crucified with Christ, so we sin not.
Just as Paul uses the allegory of a married woman if husband (Law) dead then one is free to marry another (that is Christ) The risen Christ, in God's Spirit, born again. yes? maybe You decide I know I have.

Not at all. Don't put ANY trust in your mind, it can do NOTHING without the power of God's influence on it and, that 'power of God' unto our life comes in many fashions and forms who we are, who we are to be, where we are to go by His leading us. It's always His leading, even yea so be through the Word of OUR reading, it is ONLY going to be understood ('revealed' as Scripture says) when we take ALL emphasis fully off of what we can do and realize that all things are possible with God and, of ourselves, nothing is possible, nothing good, that is, but with Him in us working , grampsK, ALL things are possible. This is 'faith,' this is where 'through faith' comes in, which we receive the Holy Spirit by faith and then THROUGH our faith in Him, we continue on in His leading, following Him.

'By' is a passive word, like, for instance, a 'byline' for a newspaper story, it's simply a story written BY such and such. But, ah, yes!, 'through,' this is where we get ACTIVE! in doing something, and, THROUGH faith, the Holy Spirit will work and MOVE us toward His ways for us, which WILL, sometimes, be fraught with danger/temptation but with that temptation in place God tells us, too, in Scripture, He will always provide a way out for us, as brother Paul relates this truth in 1 Corinthians. :)

So, to add to this thread's title would be good: Holy Bible taught by the Holy Spirit, through our faith in Him :)

LOOKS LIKE THE HOLY SPIRIT IS ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN THE PURPOSES OF GOD, SINCE HE IS GOD.
DELIVERING SONS TO GLORY.

of course the Spirit teaches us.:)
The Spirit does more than just teach, just bring to understanding things of our lives for us to see through our reading of the Word and by His leading us in our life. Notice the 'active' and 'passive' nature of the words just shown, 'through' being 'active voice,' and, 'by' being 'passive voice.'

The Holy Spirit, therefore, teaches us all truth, which will be revelation for our lives, thus, the word 'reveal,' the great, mighty, mysterious word, 'reveal' said in Scripture, as we cannot see something if it's not in the open, to put it in layman's terms. A box of rocks is not seen behind a black veil or curtain or blanket or ?? until.......

.....it is revealed :) God STOPS up our understanding until we show a faith in Him, and, this faith does NOT have to be perfect, of course, that is where He comes in who leads us, who is God, who is Jesus, His Son, who is whom He gave us for right relationship BACK with Him, who is Christ Himself, the visible image of the invisible God ( Col. 1:15) who is God in the spirit, in the flesh, in the heavens now, wanting so much for you to continue forth your life in faith, reading His Word, listening to His still small voice, thus, revealed, showing you great and mighty things that will bless you as you faith-fully go and, in the Spirit, bring glory to Him, that is, He who is in you, that is, He who is with God now in heaven, that is, He who is God alone, Christ alone, the Holy Spirit alone, ALL leading your life by grace, through faith, not looking back, plowing ahead, working, toiling, NOT looking back, plowing ahead, working, toiling, NOT looking back, plowing ahead, working..........

So not only does the HOLY SPIRIT leads the Children of God, THEY FOLLOW HIM....
only those who are born again (saved by grace through FAITH IN CHRIST's CROSS AND RESURRECTION) receive the Holy Spirit.

He will not fail.

He delivers. He is the GUARANTEE on the future inheritance.

Will God not take possession of what He has purchased?

who can separate us from the love of God?

He is able, He is GOD.

He's not fifty miles up the road out of sight calling and you have to "follow" His lead to where you do not know.

He will not fail.

is The Trinity not working toward the same end?

God is ONE.

Now is time for me to once again say these few words, and maybe Zone and MANY will see the Gospel of God in this...
The Holy Spirit LEADS before HE FILLS....

The Holy Spirit of God leads a person before He fills that person. God send Jesus to pay for ALL people God wants to save. Yet not all CALLED people are saved, for God says: MANY are called FEW are chosen.

Who are these many people that try to enter but does not succeed? Luke 13:24... Strive hard to enter in at the straight gate: for MANY will seek to enter in, and shall NOT BE ABLE... What is the difference between those that seek to enter, and those that actually do? Who are the people that seek to enter, and why are they NOT ABLE to enter?

I guess we should ask what is the difference between the tow groups... BOTH SEEK TO ENTER, that is why they want to enter, but only one group are ABLE.... What is the difference between the two groups?

When we study salvation and how God saves, we come to realize that even if people are reproofed of sin it does not mean they have the Holy Spirit in them. And the ones that are made ONE WITH GOD, as Zone again stated correctly, these people are the ones that are filled with the Holy Spirit.

John 17 says that they are not only made ONE WITH GOD, but also perfectly made one with eachother... WOW! That is the power of the salvation of God.... ONE SPIRIT ONE BODY ONE MIND AND ONE FATHER! ONE TRUTH.... God's Word is tha Truth. That is why they all worship God with ONE SPIRIT AND ONE HEART.... Do I hope to be ONE OF THOSE MEMBERS...

[h=3]Colossians 1:15-23[/h]New International Version (NIV)

[h=3]The Supremacy of the Son of God[/h][SUP]15 [/SUP]The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.[SUP]16 [/SUP]For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. [SUP]17 [/SUP]He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. [SUP]18 [/SUP]And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. [SUP]19[/SUP]For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, [SUP]20 [/SUP]and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
[SUP]21 [/SUP]Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. [SUP]22 [/SUP]But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation—
[SUP]23 [/SUP]if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

We have been past tense 100% forgiven, made Holy by God's doing, not man's at all. verse 22, cobus, clear as a bell, and Eph 1:7 as well
Ephesians 1:7
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace

Acts 10:43 All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”

[h=3]Ephesians 1:13[/h]New International Version (NIV)

[SUP]13 [/SUP]And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,

I hope I am not stepping out of line or posting wrong. If so I apologise and I don't mind correction as I am new here. I believe that there are many unseen truths in the Bible. I can tell you how it was revealed it to me. We know that Adam and Eve sinned against God and where cast out of the garden. You are right was no written command for Cain and Abel to do as they did. Before the fall man walked through the garden conversating with God. I am sure Adam knew (as Adam was not deceived) full well the things that please Him and Adam understood that God is just and must have continued to serve God even after the fall because what is not written tells us that someone taught both Cain and Able to worship God the only other two humans that could have were...Adam and Eve. This tells me they made their peace with God.
