An interesting question don't you think? How or what is Gods method of saving us?

What are your thoughts. I am thinking of doing a series on here based on the wilderness Tabernacle.

The reason why is because many today do not realise that the sanctuary and the services in the sanctuary are the core of the Gospel. yes friends the Gospel was not new when Jesus came but rather he fulfilled the Gospel picture that he himself gave to the Jewish nation. It is by understanding this truth as seen in the old Testament that one will soon realise that people in the old days were saved exactly the same way you and I are.

a few scriptures to wet the apatite.

Psa 77:13 Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?

David understood that the way God saves is seen in the sanctuary.

Psa 73:17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.

Asaph the worship leader came to understand the result of sin and the punishment of the wicked in the sanctuary.

Heb 8:1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
Heb 8:2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.

Heb 8:5 Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.
Heb 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

notice that the earthly sanctuary served as an example of heavenly things. Jesus is our high priest.

Heb 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

Jesus is our high priest. do you know what the role of the high priest was in the sanctuary?

Did you know that Revelation takes place in the sanctuary?

Rev 1:12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;
Rev 1:13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

here we see Jesus revealed to John standing in the holy place which is the second compartment of the sanctuary next to the 7 branched candle stick.

Jesus actually based many of his teachings on the knowledge of the sanctuary. In fact many of the errors in Christianity today are due to a lack of understanding of the sanctuary and its services. they served as a shadow to point to Jesus and help understand both what Jesus would do on earth and also what He would do in heaven up to the time he returns.

Joh 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

John the baptist spoke of Jesus as the lamb that takes away the sin of the world. this is sanctuary language.

Dan 8:14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

even the book of Daniel uses the sanctuary to explain truths of God and his plan to end sin.

Simply put. if you do not have an understanding of the sanctuary then you are missing some key ingredients that open up the Gospel like never before. everything I put here is just a teaser. but the bible is heavily impacted by this teaching. I will when I have time start some threads on different aspects of the sanctuary and show how they relate to Jesus and the Gospel of salvation. If there is any interest that is. let me know.

blessings.

It looks good, the book of John has sanctuary language.

Sanctuary in the book of John

Sanctuary symbol - upfront
‘And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us’
(1:14. Compare Exodus 25:8)

Altar of sacrifice
‘Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin
of the world’. (1:29)

Laver of water
‘Unless one is born of water and the Spirit he
cannot enter the Kingdom of God’ (3:5). ‘If you
knew the gift of God and who it is that says to
you ‘Give Me a drink’, you would have asked Him
and He would have given you living water’ (4:10).

Shewbread
‘I am the bread of life’ (6:48).

Lampstand
‘I am the light of the world’ (8:12).

Altar of incense of prayer
‘Whatever you ask in my name, that I will do … if
you ask anything in my name, I will do it’.
(14:13,14).

Most Holy Place
John 17 is the High Priestly prayer – it takes us
‘within the veil’ into the Most Holy place of
heaven.

God's way of saving us is manifested though the trials and tests that we go through in our daily living. It is actually his way of building a strong faith and a strong relationship with the supreme being

Indeed the outline of the arrangement of Temple or sanctuary furniture forms a cross... outside the tabernacle= Altar of sacrifice (place of repentance). Inside the sanctuary - Altar of incense (communion/prayer to God). To the right front,Table of Shewbread or more accurately Table of the presence, this signifies the word of life that brings us into his presence. To the left front the golden lampstand which implies the seven spirits of God as recorded in Isa. 11:2 and are the light of life and the seven eyes which run to and fro throughout the earth beholding the good and evil. Finally there is the ark of the covenant which is Jesus Christ our Lord, for the ark represents Gods word and teaching, it is the mind and thoughts of the Almighty and the place of his throne in the spiritual sense that we become the Temple or sanctuary, the abode of God, and having an intimate knowledge of the true depth and riches of Christ with all wisdom and understanding... Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 2:5

The first step was to come to the door of the sanctuary with a sacrifice
John 10:7-9
(7) Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
(8) All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
(9) I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Thank you for your kind correction... The laver which was also outside in front of the Tabernacle/Temple and had a type of reflective mirror finish from the inside, which when the priest would wash themselves of the blood from the sacrifice they would in turn see a reflection of themselves, but then the blood would mingle with the water and their image would disappear.

Galatians 3:24
(24) Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
John 1:17
(17) For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

These two verses are explained in more detail in Exodus. First God gave Israel the Law in Exodus 20 then He gave them the sanctuary which teaches Christ, the Sanctuary teaches the plan of salvation the grace of God.

Exodus 25:8
(8) And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.
Psalms 77:13
(13) Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?

There were various animals used as sin offerings
Exodus 29:36
(36) And thou shalt offer every day a bullock for a sin offering for atonement: and thou shalt cleanse the altar, when thou hast made an atonement for it, and thou shalt anoint it, to sanctify it.
Leviticus 4:24
(24) And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the goat, and kill it in the place where they kill the burnt offering before the LORD: it is a sin offering.
Leviticus 4:32
(32) And if he bring a lamb for a sin offering, he shall bring it a female without blemish.
Leviticus 5:7
(7) And if he be not able to bring a lamb, then he shall bring for his trespass, which he hath committed, two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, unto the LORD; one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering.
Leviticus 5:15
(15) If a soul commit a trespass, and sin through ignorance, in the holy things of the LORD; then he shall bring for his trespass unto the LORD a ram without blemish out of the flocks, with thy estimation by shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary, for a trespass offering:

Hebrews 10:4
(4) For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

The various sin offerings could not take away sin but, were types they pointed forward to Christ
Hebrews 9:12-14
(12) Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
(13) For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
(14) How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

It is natural that a human being trusts, believes and puts confidence in another human being more than believing supernatural powers. A person who doesn't have the knowledge of the true living God, will confide in his family, friends, in self etc. But he doesn't know that he is living by 'God's grace'. So God naturally will make him understand through giving him experience, that there is a God all powerful and all mighty in deed who is the only one who can give a person all that he is longing for in life!!

I think a few people forgot a few important facts.

1 The high priest had to be cleansed, because he was a sinner. Christ had no sin, which is why he was the perfect high priest.
2. The "sacrifice" of the innocent animal is what allowed god to "look over" the sins (not forgive, this could not be accomplished until Christs death)
3. This is not the first picture. the first picture was what God did for Adam and Eve in the garden.

He took an innocent animal. Sacrificed it. And used the skin of the animal to cover the nakedness of man.

As men, when we stand in front of God, we stand naked, all our sin before us. Christ, by sacrificing himself, covers us with his flesh and blood. so our nakedness (sin) is covered. And God does not see us, and our sin, He sees his son.

If you are refering to Christ's sacrifice then the sacrifice always took place in the courtyard. Only the high priest went into the most holy place once a year with the blood of a sacrifice

Hebrews 7:25
(25) Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
Hebrews 10:21-22
(21) And having an high priest over the house of God;
(22) Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

There is only one door into the tabernacle

Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the door for the sheep. John 10:7

We need to come into God?s presents with a thankful heart and praise for all he is, has done, and will do ( Psalm 116:17). Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations Psalm 100:4-5

Heb 13:15 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise--the fruit of lips that confess his name

Psalm 50:14 Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High,

Yes Amen, the sanctuary teaches the gospel that was the purpose of God giving to Israel the sanctuary message. In Exodus God gave the Law and the gospel (sanctuary message)
