Here is the basic breakdown of everything

  • Grew up with a family that doesn't go to church or acknowledge God
  • I found and accepted Jesus Christ at the age of 20
  • I have ADHD so its extremely hard to keep focused, medicine hasn't helped
  • Have barely read the bible, but learned vital things contained within from listening to others during bible study sessions that a local church held.
  • I have a personality that everyone doesn't want to be around, so I have no one to study with
  • All my friends are aethists except for one whom is a mormon but we keep our faith to ourselves.
  • I pray every day but have issues staying 100% focused on what I really want to ask so my prayers are sometimes seconds quick and few and far between.
  • I love God with all my heart, but because I have a huge lack of ground beneath me feet, just day to day is never anywhere as close to God as I would hope for.

So my question is, what should I do?

Crumblefish, would an audible version of the Bible be more helpful to you than trying to read for now?

What is it about your personality that makes you feel no one wants to be around you? I see a great capacity for love and respect behind your words. :)

Have you tried making friends at the church where the studies were held? It is my prayer that perhaps they would be more accepting and compassionate toward your situation than people of the world, you know? Being able to share, encourage, and pray with other christians is so very important to our spiritual growth.

If making friends in person is difficult for you, perhaps you will make some christian friends here. Have you tried the chatrooms at all? The Bible study room maybe?

I'm going to pray with you about this as soon as I'm finished typing. The best way to completely turn towards God is to simply decide to do it and ask Him to help you do it, but keep in mind that being around atheists all of the time and having that unspoken spiritual battle just under the surface is not exactly the best way for a christian to be fed, you know? Prayer, studying the Word and alone time with Him is key. God bless you! :)

God bless you. Talk to a Greek or Russian Orthodox priest in your local area and he will tell you more about Jesus Christ and the Orthodox Faith in Christ. Everyone needs to become an Orthodox Christian: that is God's will (see 2 Peter 3:9).

Confess your Sins to God, Believe that Jesus is the Messiah, Be Baptized.

The rest is the work of God. The fact that you want to surrender is evidence that the Holy Spirit is working with you. God has already made the first step. Your move.

Following God is the opposite of following men. In ancient times men followed idols made of stone or gold. Today men have created ideas of how to live instead of statues. We just have to choose to live by the truth of God instead of men's ideas. Scripture and the Holy Spirit tells us what comes from Him.

We all have hardships to go through in this life, but the bottom line is that God created us, each different from every other person. God’s main purpose is to have you live forever with Him, he loves you. Each of us has been given special talents to use, different from every other person’s talents just as your fingerprints are different. God wants to bless you with every gift. You can just minute by minute live within the path He wants you to live, reap the blessings, and have complete faith in that life. Even when it seems difficult.

It sounds like you have it hard because of your physiology, my friend. But mate, your heart sounds like it's in the right place :)

"I found and accepted Jesus Christ"; "I love God with all my heart"
These are your words my friend.
Whatever else is there, you love the Lord your God and he knows your heart :)

It can be hard. There are days when I don't utter more than short prayers that last seconds to my Lord and savior who I've know since I was 6; other days I can sing his praises for hours. But the wonderful thing about our Lord, is that he loves us no matter what.

You love Jesus. Pow! :) I know i know, dramatic... but pow!!!! He's Jesus, man! He loves you too, and he's Lord of all creation. Don't worry so much. God didn't give us a spirit of fear, nor is there any condemnation for those in Christ :) Keep loving him and let your actions, however they do, reflect your love for him.

If you'd like I'd be more than happy to organise some bible studies with you.
Blessings - Daniel

Like you I did not start going to church till I was 20. I did not go to church as a child, It is good if you just take one day at a time. Trust in God, He will lead you.
Matthew 6:34
(34) Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Hebrews 13:5
(5) Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
