If these verses and the implications of these verses make people so uncomfortable, then why are you giving this book so much authority and importance?

No, no, same topic. Are you a Christian? Your status says you are. It's a simple yes or no answer.
This thread is about the verses in slavery in the bible.

Verses about slavery in the bible is not the same topic as discussing my personal spiritual condition.

An apple ain’t an orange, and an orange ain’t an apple.

Feel free to make a new thread.

You appear to be distracting from the topic at hand in this thead. Why? Because the verses from the book you hold as so important make you uncomfortable? If yes, then why do you hold this book in such high esteen?

What’s happening in this thread from many, is what’s called cognitive dissonance. People are being presented with verses like below, from a book they HIGHLY esteem. Those verses make them very uncomfortable, so they have to find a way to sort of wipe them out of existence, so they can keep highly esteeming said book.

Some are appealing to context, but even in their context these verses remain the same. Others are appealing to the vast cultural and time distance between us and them. That’s fine, but if they’re going to appeal to that, then they can’t claim the same book is relevant for us today. Either it fits today, or it doesn’t because it’s written to people in very different conditions.

If your highly esteemed book provokes so much unease and cognitive dissonance, then why in the world are you esteeming it so highly?

Ex 21:7-8 7 “When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she shall not go out as the male slaves do. 8 If she does not please her master, who has designated her for himself, then he shall let her be redeemed. He shall have no right to sell her to a foreign people, since he has broken faith with her.

Ex 21:4 4 If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out alone.

Lev 22:11 11 but if a priest buys a slave as his property for money, the slave may eat of it, and anyone born in his house may eat of his food.

Lev 25:44-46 44 As for your male and female slaves whom you may have: you may buy male and female slaves from among the nations that are around you. 45 You may also buy from among the strangers who sojourn with you and their clans that are with you, who have been born in your land, and they may be your property. 46 You may bequeath them to your sons after you to inherit as a possession forever. You may make slaves of them, but over your brothers the people of Israel you shall not rule, one over another ruthlessly.

Deut 20:12-14 12 But if it makes no peace with you, but makes war against you, then you shall besiege it. 13 And when the Lord your God gives it into your hand, you shall put all its males to the sword, 14 but the women and the little ones, the livestock, and everything else in the city, all its spoil, you shall take as plunder for yourselves. And you shall enjoy the spoil of your enemies, which the Lord your God has given you.

Deut 21:10-14 10 “When you go out to war against your enemies, and the Lord your God gives them into your hand and you take them captive, 11 and you see among the captives a beautiful woman, and you desire to take her to be your wife, 12 and you bring her home to your house, she shall shave her head and pare her nails

Numbers 31:18 18 But all the young girls who have not known man by lying with him keep alive for yourselves.

Num 31:32-35 32 Now the plunder remaining of the spoil that the army took was 675,000 sheep, 33 72,000 cattle, 34 61,000 donkeys, 35 and 32,000 persons in all, women who had not known man by lying with him.

This thread is about the verses in slavery in the bible.
No, you don't get to sit here and accuse believers and God and then claim you're a Christian. Either you're a liar about who you are or you are in this thread. Which is it?

So you lied on your status.
Don't be frustrated with a heathen. Heathens do what heathens do.
He's wrong in his claims because he can only use reason, and the world through reason will never know or understand God. His purpose is wicked, but this should arouse in us a sense of compassion. Pray for him.
It is a little concerning, though, that so few Christians can discern such motives or give an answer for the hope that is within them.

Well you're not going to get away with telling anyone to "shut the fuc%% up" here. And I am more than willing to answer every single question you posted. In fact I told you I would. But I'm not about to be played by a liar. So you'd have done yourself a favor to fess up and tell the truth. Now I know I'm deal with a dishonest person. And that is far more important than this thread. You get up on your moral high horse, but you can't be honest about a simple question. You want to ask and accuse and you blow up like a rocket when it's done to you. So now you've proved you're lying and are hypocritical. It looks like you're as morally inept as you are accusing everyone else of being. You should have answered the question. Now we're going to have to deal with this a different way.

Or we could just keep on topic. One’s profile status doesn’t make one’s statements true or false.
There IS a reason this fella is trying to distract from the issue at hand.

BTW, if one’s profile status makes what they say untrue, then prepare to be parched, water is wet! And put on a sweater because the sun is incredibly hot.

Again, that user was doing nothing more than trying to deflect attention away from the topic. Possibly because it makes them uncomfortable.

My advice if that is the case? Quit esteeming a book that makes you uncomfy. Or. STFO - Scroll Thee Fastly On.

^^^ Still lying. Do honestly think I'd respond to questions from someone who told me to "shut the fu%% up? No one has ever said that to my face. And I don't expect to see you here much longer. Pity. We could have had a huge discussion.

No you’re the liar.

I merely encouraged people to Scroll Thee Fastly On if they didn’t like the topic.

Your mission here has been accomplished, You’ve derailed the thread, and effectively yelled SQUIRREL!

You're right, I misread what you said. On instead of up doesn't change the meaning. And it's cute that you've made up "Sctroll Thee Fastly On" to cover what it really means. So if I'm lying, that means you're a Christian, and yet this thread shows you aren't. I'm not lying. Answer the question. Did you lie on your status?

Lying on your profile tells everyone else something of your character, which makes motives suspect, among other things.
But back to topic, do you realize that the verses you have cited are part of the old covenant? Do you understand the implications for us today?
