VVhat does this have to do with the topic of this thread? Do you mind not derailing this thread, so people can discuss overcoming past sin and moving forward in life? I would appreciate it, as it is you're bringing some negativity to this thread by presenting a relationship with God as legalistic and burdensome.

VVe are His children, we are family. Not just friends, but blood bought children. Adopted by the Spirit of Adoption. Can't be any closer, He resides inside of you as you are His temple. God is your Father, why are you trying to distance God through self-works when Jesus has brought us reconciliation? No need to answer, just get back on topic please.
If you would read my post then you would know how to overcome your sins. If you want to overcome your sins then give your live to Jesus Christ and let the Holy Spirit direct your life.

Or do you just want to overcome your sins and continue to live the way you want to live. That is not going to happen.

(Romans 8:1-4) “The reason, therefore, why those who are in Christ Jesus are not condemned, is that the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death. God has done what the Law, because of our unspiritual nature, was unable to do. God dealt with sin by sending his own Son in a body as physical as any sinful body, and in that body God condemned sin he did this in order the Law’s just demands might be satisfied in us, who behave not as our unspiritual nature but as the spirit dictates.”

The spirit of just men was made perfect and whoever Is born of the SPIRIT of GOD cannot sin so then IMO this would be talking about renewing the mind to the WORD of GOD until we all come Into unity of the faith and knowledge of the WORD of GOD unto a perfect man unto the fullness of JESUS CHRIST.

Romans 12:1-2
King James Version(KJV)

1.)I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2.)And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Hebrews 4:10-12
King James Version(KJV)

10.)For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

11.)Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

12.)For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

When you were a sinner....what was the worst thing that you ever did? I think it's a fair question to ask you because my suspicion is that you have absolutely no idea where some people have come from and the things they have endured and survived in their lives. You have no idea the brokenness that lots of people around here suffer with because of horribly broken and dysfunctional childhoods. In your religiousness, your heart has turned black.

I always wanted to obey God, and tried very hard to never sin, but I always did, I even prayed to die before ever sinning again, but no I lived, and sinned.
Then in my late thirties Jesus gave me his Holy Spirit, and then sinning was no longer a problem. I gave my life to Jesus, and from then on did what he had me do. No longer did I sin.
The only way we can defeat Satan/sin is to give our lives to Jesus Christ, and through the grace given to us by the Holy Spirit we defeat Satan.

Sins of the past can sometimes creep into your mind and torment you. You feel like a monster. You feel sad that you ever did such a thing, even going to thoughts of not being able to live with yourself. Its dark. I can easily see this being answered as a work of the enemy, but beyond that how does one live with what they've done in the past? How does one move on?

Do you alienate yourself from what you did and see it for what it was? The flesh. Do you see yourself in light of who God calls you and not what you were? How do you find peace in your heart and mind to let the past be, just that, the past and move forward?
Positionally we are forgiven.

So,find verses on your position. "if we walk in the light,as He is in the light,we have fellowship one with another. And the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses from all sin"

Next,the battlefield is the mind.

Paul said "........forgetting the things that are behind, and pressing forward to what lies ahead."

Discipline in the thought life. The human mind goes forward, from one thought to the next. Memories are videos, documenting the past. When the vid starts, replace it with another thought. Soon you will do that automatically, and those thoughts will diminish do to you not entertaining them.

I also try to laugh at those thoughts. Somehow it takes all the mustard out of them LOL.

I believe that when we feel shame for past actions/behaviors for which we have been forgiven, it means we have left our abode in our Lord Jesus Christ. When we leave Him, we no longer reap the fruit of abiding in Him. Once we recognize we have left Him, turn back to Him.

The key is doing a check up from the neck up --- just take an inventory of the fruit exhibited in our lives. Is it fruit of the spirit? If so, all is well. keep on keeping on.

If no fruit of the spirit is evident, then we need to turn our hearts to the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the great Shepherd. He will welcome us back to Him with open arms. He will refresh us and clothe us in His righteousness.

When I first became a believer, I used to do my check up from the neck up every hour. I set a timer on my watch. I did that because I wanted to recognize when I had turned from the Lord. It's not that difficult and I got to the point where I could do it even in a roomful of people. I'd just take a mental inventory of my thoughts, feelings, and emotions. I didn't make a big show of it. After awhile, I started to recognize when I had left the Lord even before the hour was up. After another while, I could see things that in the past would draw me away from Him and I would cling tighter to Him so that I would not leave. He never left me to deal with things on my own. He always helped me through. Even to this day, the Lord Jesus Christ shoulders my burdens.

I know some people feel that what they have done in the past is so awful that God could not possibly love them enough to forgive them. They just do not understand the love of Christ. Once we know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, then we will be filled with all the fulness of God (Eph 3:19). Once we are filled with all the fulness of God, our sin-consciousness just disappears, along with the shame which accompanies it. There is no room for sin-consciousness when we are God-conscious. Praise God!!!

I put it under the blood of Christ. He paid for my sins and forgave me. He did not come to condemn.

When we believers finally start to believe in what Christ has already done for us and that our sins are in fact forgiven - we will walk free in Christ of the condemnation. This is the scandal of the gospel of Christ and it will offend others that were taught differently but we press on to know Christ and His perfect work done for us.

All sin has been taken away by the blood of Jesus which is why not believing in Christ's sacrifice is the only thing that keeps us from the Lord.
