Hello @Chipster, I believe that all of the Gospels were written pretty soon after the Lord's Ascension, within 30 years, anyway (Mark being the earliest). Some of the Epistles were completed prior to that however, like Galatians and James.

Some believe Matthew was written after AD 70, which is fascinating because Matthew wrote about the prophecies Jesus made about the destruction of the temple in AD 70.

I lean toward between 50 - 60s. I reject modern scholar speculation that it was written by someone other then Matthew the apostle. I lean toward the 50-60s based on the internal evidence of the prophecy on one stone not being left upon another. I do not believe this had happened yet, and so it is before 70AD.

"Searched" this question and there are numerous Articles of folks offering their "opinions" with their "justifications" for their determinations of when the Gospel of Matthew was written/and by whom.

It varies from 50AD to 100AD, and each seems to have their own "set of circumstances" and "evidence" for their assertion........

Not to discount this Thread, nor to speak against it's Author, BUT, IMO, when the Gospel was written is not nearly as important as it BEING written, and being the Inspired Word of God.
