An allegory is a story told to teach or illustrate a point. An allegory is not true, although it may be potentially true. He probably should have called it a metaphor.

Hmmm, I think we are going to have to run a credit check on these angels, especially if there is only a potential that they exist to buy floorspace on a pin that may or may not exist as well. Can't be too careful in today's economy.

angel literally means messenger

and in rev 2 AND 3 the messengers may specifically refer to the pastors of each church

so the question becomess...........

how many pastors can dance on the head of an allegory metaphorically?
