If men could keep the law, why did Peter say they couldn't, and never were able to, in Acts 15?

5 Then some of the believers who belonged to the party of the Pharisees stood up and said, “The Gentiles must be circumcised and required to keep the law of Moses.”

6
The apostles and elders met to consider this question.

7 After much discussion, Peter got up and addressed them: “Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe.

8 God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us.

9 He did not discriminate between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith.

10 Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of Gentiles a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors have been able to bear?

11 No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”

I'm not necessarily calling other posters, "liars", but I have to openly admit that I do not keep all of God's law.
Yeah. I do not keep the sabbath day either if everyone is referring to the 10 commandments as God's laws, but because Jesus Christ is in me, is why I am blameless for not keeping the sabbath day.

Those who claim to keep such laws, haven't killed me yet by stoning me since the flip side of keeping God's laws is to enforce it by stoning those that do not.

Thankfully, sabbath day keepers are not keeping God's laws in that respect.

And they would be liars if they use any services on the sabbath day that requires people to keep running and providing on the sabbath day since sabbath day keepers in the Old Testament were not allowed to use a hired laborer or servants to do any work for them on the sabbath day.

I do not see any sabbath day keepers shying away from that luxury. Some make excuses for it.

By the grace of God and His help as my Good Shepherd, I follow Jesus Christ by faith alone. apart from trying to keep the deeds of the law. As the OP cited that reference, by doing so, I get to know Him & the power of His resurrection when I see myself following Him by the grace of God.

The good fight is keeping the faith; not keeping the laws. By keeping the faith in Jesus Christ to help us to follow Him and to abide in His words, there is no striving in keeping God's laws when we are resting in Him for His yoke is easy & His burden is light.

If anyone says they do, they need to recheck the law, because only Christ kept Gods law.

All laws and commands are kept by the Hoy Spirit when the Believer places their Faith exclusively in Christ and His Finished Work, i.e., The Cross, i.e., The Blood of Jesus. This allows The Holy Spirit the legal means to help and do what needs to be done in the Believer life because they are glorifying Jesus by believing who He is and what He has done.

Two kinds of peace
1. Justifying Peace - This is Peace with God, a legal standing. Rom. 8:7; Eph. 2:14-15

2. Sanctifying Peace - This is the Peace of God in the heart. Rom. 8:6; 14:19; 15:13; Gal. 1:3

The first is the result of a legal standing. The second is the result of the Work of the Holy Spirit. The first is static, never fluctuates, the second changes almost from hour to hour. The first, every Christian has, the second, every Christian may have.

All and every commandment is kept by the Holy Spirit if the Believer is operating and understand "The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus!" (Romans 8:2)

Majority of Christians are living under the "Law of Sin and Death." Very few Christians live in "The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus."

There are seven great Laws outlined in the New Testament, all devised and created by God. They are:
1. The Law of God (Romans 7:22)
2. The Law of Sin and Death (Romans 7:23)
3. The Law of the Mind (Romans 7:23)
4. The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:2)
5. The Law of Faith (Romans 3:27)
6. The Law of Christ (Gal. 6:2); and,
7. The Law of Liberty (James 1:25)

Romans 8:13 says, "If you live after the flesh, you shall die: but if you through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, you shall live" (i.e., all Laws of God and commandments of Jesus can only be kept by the Holy Spirit when the Believer place his Faith exclusively in Christ and His Finished Work, i.e., the Cross, i.e., the Blood of Jesus).

Paul warns the Believer, he said, "For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, (the) sin (nature) revived, and I died (failed God by sinning, using the flesh) (Romans 7:9)."

The Way Of The Spirit
Focus: The Lord Jesus Christ (John 14:6)
Object Of Faith: The Cross of Christ (Romans 6:1-14)
Power Source: The Holy Spirit (Romans 8:1-2, 11)
Results: Victory (Romans 6:14)

Man's Way
Focus: Works.
Object Of Faith: Performance.
Power Source: Self.
Results: Defeat!

If we truly love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and love our neighbor as ourself then we are obeying the law of God. Love summarizes all of the law and all of the prophets. Love does no harm to its neighbor.

Jesus' great commission told the apostles to go into all the world preaching the Kingdom of God, baptizing them and teaching them to obey all that He has commanded.

Jesus said if we love Him we will obey Him.

Yes, we have our oops moments ........... when we confess our sins, He is just to forgive us and cleanse us from all righteousness.

Jesus' great commission told the apostles to go into all the world preaching the Kingdom of God, baptizing them and teaching them to obey all that He has commanded.

amen making disciples of all people teaching them to obey the same things i taught you. because those things are Gods Love. as the ten commanments are what not to do.

matthew 5:21-22 "Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: <<< do not kill or you will be judged >>> rid yourself of anger and unforgiveness inwardly >>>But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment:..."

if we get rid of anger, resentment, hate, greed, covetousness, pride within our heart, theres no reason to do harm to our neighbor. and we are able to walk in the things of God being cleaned and filled inwardly by the Words of spirit and life.

matthew 5:27-28 "Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: <<< ( do not do this)>>> deal with it in your mind and heart >>>28But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

matthew 5: 38-45 "
Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 39But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.41And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. 42Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
43
Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven:"

Jesus is teaching How to be children of God through a new spirit and clean Heart. we Know what children of God are Like because of what Jesus did and said in the gospel. we Know what Gods Love is like because He put us before Himself, as we are taught to put others above ourselves. ( romans 12:10 , john 13:12-17) to do the deeds of Love taught by Jesus meant for the children of God to learn and believe and do.

obedience to Gods word..... IS perfect Love

Hi dalconn,

Amen on the scripture. :)
There's something wrong with your OP though because all who are in Christ will keep God's law.
Christ kept the Law w/o even committing one sin. He lived the only sinless life. All that He is has been imputed to me, and He kept them so that it is as if I kept them too, seeing I am in Him.

Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation—[Colossians 1:21,22]

We are holy, w/o blemish and free from accusation only because His righteousness has been imputed to us, the believers. All I can say is "WOW!"

Paul warns the Believer, he said, "For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, (the) sin (nature) revived, and I died (failed God by sinning, using the flesh) (Romans 7:9)."
Are you saying that the person was under law and then they got saved by grace through faith making them alive without the law?

I believe that once GOD saves a person, they are eternally saved, therefore no need for that particular warning If you are saying a person gets saved and then can lose their salvation.

I believe Paul was talking about the age of accountability.
