im experiencing having to much fun in this thread! cya :)
Careful, when we get on a roll we tend to stick our neck out a little too far and that's when it starts to 'stiffen up' on us, but I certainly don't want to take away from your fun.

Thanks for that input. I can relate somewhat to what you say as experiences were important at the early stage of my faith (and during my charismatic period) as well. However, as monergism became absolutely clear to me all that focus dropped. I guess the option closest to what you say would be that experiences affect your faith Only in as far as it is line strictly with scripture since that is in line with that "God chooses to glorify Himself in them". I think that is a wholly relevant and valid input. Yet personally I do not see that very important thing as affecting my faith per se. I do see a little affect in experiences though, primarily the experience of not letting experiences affect my faith :).
I agree that we must be in line with scripture.
But faith is more than just scripture.
It is said, that faith cometh by hearing the word and understanding the word cometh by faith!
Many things come through faith, and expeariences are part of ones walk in Jesus.
One cannot limit Gods power and glory, and Jesus coming showed us that the He fullfilled the laws.
Made all compleat!
For everything is made, done and is Gods!
Now I agree that scripture is the food that sustains us, but we in Jesus are now spirit.
Too often we can make scripture the goal, just as many look to an expeariance, or sign, docturine or religion.
When all these are given to bring us to the goal.
The perfect, Jesus Christ is Lord come in the flesh!

I would be on guard and even caution against some of the above. Yes, there can be a lot things that are profitable and to learn from that is not scripture, however, they will usually harmonize with the normative red thread of scripture. I am not into contrasting let alone contradicting anything to something else - all is supposed to lead us to the goal. Anything can be or become a goal or an end in itself, even our quest for a deeper walk with God, being freed from what you've mentioned above etc, etc. There are so many things... That's why I think its better to not let much affect one's faith and rest in that.
Rom.8

Pickles, the only thing that concerns me about you and it has for a long time, will you ever stop magnifying Christ and glorifying God every moment of every day the way you do? With you it's always Christ and being occupied with Jesus and you never let up and never seem to want to stop no matter what happens in your life. Something happens or someone gets negative or critical of another and instead of joining in you have to bring up Christ and put Him in the middle of all that. If someone came to this site and read your post they would probably think that you're having a relationship with Jesus Christ and I think that it's true! If there is such a thing as godly gossip I want to start it off by saying that Pickles is having an affair with our Lord and we are all jealous.

Thankyou for your words of caution tribesman , as it is always good to test all things.
But , what I hope you will understand is that too often, we believe we are the ones that have to be guarded , careful and are responsible for wether of not we get all right.
I used to think this myself, then God pressed upon me His promise and understanding.
I then saw that in Jesus we are to trust and rest always in Him, for we cannot possibly keep track of all threats.
God will not fail us, Jesus will not let any take us from His hand, and the Holy Spirit brings all desernment and understanding.
As long a one rests first in Jesus, trusting all to God, the Holy Spirit first, the second part where we need to be wacthfull and disern, is given, and we can walk securely always in faith.

You are correct about scripture supporting all things, but then one could caution as well that even satan knows scripture well and can abuse it to decieve.
So what can one do?
As said before, we rely not on ourselves, but trust always in Jesus, God Our Father, the Holy Spirit to protect, teach and guide us.
As said before, all trully is to bring one to the goal, and in seeking the goal, one recives all things needed to obtain the goal :)
As scripture says, Jesus Christ is Lord come in the flesh, and in Jesus, we reciveve the way, the truth and the light!

God bless you tribesman and thankyou.

Well now you have gone and done it, it was supposed to be a secret.;)

Seriously, I often look at you and others here, jealous also, of your knowladge of the scriptures and abuility to recall and find a chapter or verse and know its orgin and theology.
Also the disipline you and others here have.
I know only that all is God's gift to us, and in Jesus, His grace, and everything is the work of His hands.
We all are just clay, and claim nothing except in faith, that Jesus Christ trully is Lord come in the flesh!
We all share the same body and life given in Jesus, and all share His Holy Spirit.
For it is not about who knows Jesus , what matters is that Jesus knows you! :)
All glory is Yours Lord God!

God bless

Funny, I was thinking the exact same thing, I just didn't say it :)

Only one choice applies, so it will be clear where you lay your emphasis.

Of course you may explain your views further, if you wish.
It wouldn’t be wise to ignore what we learn through personal experience.
